To think there is something seriously wrong with Donald Trump?

I heard him speak twice this week, and both times I thought that he sounded almost confused and not coherent. Not in the usual way he sounds clueless, but actually from a “I think there’s something seriously wrong with his health” point of view.

The thing is that usually he spouts such drivel that everyone takes the piss out of him anyway, but this seemed different. Almost as if he wasn’t aware of his surroundings and was struggling to find the words.

There's a serious theory that he's got quite bad dementia and that he's being propped up as much as possible by the real people in power.

My DH follows this all on Twitter.

AlternativePerspective · 14/03/2020 07:40

Last night that did cross my mind. But if that’s the case he won’t be able to continue for much longer.

Or a serious drug addiction. He clearly has a personality disorder too.

Bluewater1 · 14/03/2020 07:41

I agree, he doesn't seem right at all. Really really hoping that he doesn't get voted in for a second term.....

wowfudge · 14/03/2020 07:42

I think he likes to be unscripted and when he has to be more precise he struggles. Interesting theories though. Can't stand him though.

Bluewater1 · 14/03/2020 07:42

Yes, @ludothedog definitely true. I've long thought he has narcissistic personality disorder. He ticks the box for every symptom

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 07:43

I’m not exactly relishing the democrats getting a go - they are wandering into Labour territory...

dementedma · 14/03/2020 07:44

I thought this last night after watching his press conference. There was clearly something wrong.

Harakeke · 14/03/2020 07:45

Yes! I agree. I watched his speech about Coronavirus this week and thought he looked ill. And he was doing this funny nose snort thing. He seems to be getting oranger to compensate.

KonTikki · 14/03/2020 07:45

He has Never seemed normal, but events do seem to be getting on top of him.
Definitely losing his grip on reality and that is scary.
The US has always maintained that they have a system of checks and balances to control excess.
Unfortunately Trump has shown that this is simply an illusion.

Msmcc1212 · 14/03/2020 07:46

I agree. My 8 year old can read better than he was! He has anxiety around germs etc I heard so he is probably really anxious too.

Hard to feel any sympathy for him though..

He’s handling the whole Coronavirus thing so badly. He can’t possibly win another term. Can he?....

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 07:48

Aren’t they supposed to have regular doctor check ups and for the info to be released? I know his ‘check up’ was a load of made up nonsense but still.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 14/03/2020 07:50

Definitely. If you see clips of him speaking a few years ago and compare them with now there has been a huge decline.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 14/03/2020 07:50

Any links?

MissBax · 14/03/2020 07:50

Well, duhhhhhhh Wink

SpyApp · 14/03/2020 07:52

You think?!

CircleofWillis · 14/03/2020 07:54

I've heard him twice on the radio and both times wondered if he had the corona virus. He was spluttering and slurring his words and was frequently clearing his throat.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 07:55

I saw him on the news last night - he reminded me of when my grandma had dementia - and although sometimes quite lucid, she would other times start speaking and trying to get a thought out but couldn’t quite keep to the the thread or think of the words, or ask where grandpa was (he does in 1974).

The people flanking him standing there, steely eyes, glaring over the crowd... I was half expecting someone to come over and lead him away.

Mlou32 · 14/03/2020 07:56

You are all nuts 😂

OldUnit · 14/03/2020 07:57

I'll probably get flamed for this, and although I do agree with the NPD suggestion, I think he actually might struggle with reading and writing, but understands concepts very well. He's always performed awfully reading speeches and is well known for getting words wrong and making gaffes.

I don't think America are messily their approach to Coronavirus up though, and wish GB we're doing something more like they are. I actually quite admire their stance.

onalongsabbatical · 14/03/2020 08:00

I quite agree. However the Dems seem to be heading towards having an equally doddery Joe Biden, so either way we've got more years of this, unless the incumbent manages to die.
Whereas the younger, articulate, competent and vibrant Amy Klobuchar got nowhere. So the US is fucked for a bit, no?

Seventyone72seventy3 · 14/03/2020 08:00

I think he actually might struggle with reading and writing
I thought that was a given!

Seventyone72seventy3 · 14/03/2020 08:01

@Mlou32 why?

lljkk · 14/03/2020 08:01

Obama said that being POTUS reveals who you really are.
Jimmy Carter is kind, honest and self-effacing.
Reagan was a very charming bumbler and bad CEO, but with a bit of grit about him.
Clinton is a cunning, charming philanderer.
Both Bushes were caring & not very bright.
Obama turned out to be a clever, funny, charming but can't-live-up-to-his-own-principles gentleman.
Ms. Clinton would have been impatient (demanding of everyone to do their best) and without charm but amazing at detail and preparation.
They all struggle under the strain.

Trump turns out to be gloriously ignorant & self-centered with a chip on his shoulder. Who knew ?
