To think there is something seriously wrong with Donald Trump?

AlternativePerspective · 14/03/2020 07:36

I heard him speak twice this week, and both times I thought that he sounded almost confused and not coherent. Not in the usual way he sounds clueless, but actually from a “I think there’s something seriously wrong with his health” point of view.

The thing is that usually he spouts such drivel that everyone takes the piss out of him anyway, but this seemed different. Almost as if he wasn’t aware of his surroundings and was struggling to find the words.

It is alleged that In the 1980’s, Soviet President Yuri Andropov was essentially kept alive on inotropes for most of his final months whilst being wheeled out for occasional press conferences to keep the illusion of his presidency going.

Obviously that was the backwards, corrupt, Soviet Union though. Definitely not something that would happen in modern day America. Confused

Tellingitlikeitisnt · 14/03/2020 14:37

I don’t think he sounds any different on that scripted speech to normal?

tiredanddangerous · 14/03/2020 14:48

Power plus lack of intelligence equals dangerous. I can’t tell if he’s got dementia or if he’s just very unintelligent. He can barely string a sentence together can he?

PotholeParadise · 14/03/2020 14:50

It has been my belief that he has been developing dementia (or possibly taking a substance that causes similar symptoms) since before his election. I am not qualified to diagnose but I do, sadly, have experience of watching it develop.

It is a progressive disease and when it first begins to develop it can look just like someone who is too certain they know what they're doing to bother taking advice. Obviously being a frustrating person isn't an illness. However, as the symptoms progress further, it all becomes obvious in retrospect. Sad His tweets give me flashbacks of the texts I used to receive from my late parent. If I had known then what I know now, I would have marched them to the doctor to get diagnosis and potential treatment to delay its progress. But I didn't.

I hope Trump has been receiving treatment.

TheSultanofPingu · 14/03/2020 14:52

I agree re. the travel ban announcement Double.
The way he worded it sounded really odd.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/03/2020 14:56

I have heard he has poor eyesight and is too vain to wear glasses. His auto cue lettering is huge which makes it hard to scan and make sense of sentences. If that is so, he ought to practice more in advance. The clip of him trying to pronounce the Indian politicians' names recently was cringe worthy.

MissConductUS · 14/03/2020 15:06

Apart from the hilarious "bigly" I don't think I've ever heard an adverb or adjective.

He isn't much of a speaker but bigly is an actual word in reasonably common use in the US.

Durgasarrow · 14/03/2020 15:10

He is the worst.

APatchyTomCat · 14/03/2020 15:11

Terrible case of covfefe Sad

ItsAllTheDramaMickIJustLoveIt · 14/03/2020 15:16

I think he sounds ill. Shame that. He’s always been a few French fries short of a happy meal and contradicts himself/chats utter bollocks. He’s seemed almost calm about Coronavirus if that makes sense, which for a germaphobe is a surprise. Maybe his doctor has prescribed something to chill him out? He’s had plenty of opportunities to catch it apparently.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/03/2020 15:20

There are some earlier examples of Trump interviews in this article from 2017

www.statnews.com/2017/05/23/donald-trump-speaking-style-interviews/

Compare them to today.

HoldMyLobster · 14/03/2020 16:48

I believe he also has a degree in Economics.

From Wharton, which he got into using family connections. He has threatened the universities he attended with legal action if they ever release his academic records to the public.

cushioncovers · 14/03/2020 17:00

I think the travel ban speak was very scripted. He probably hadn't had much time to rehearse it and in my opinion he's way out of his depth with dealing with CV.
No matter how much money you throw at it people will die and the economy is going to get fucked up for a while. He has absolutely no control over this. How he behaves now is pretty much what he will be remembered for.
At his age he's also in the higher risk group. His money and reputation means nothing when it comes to CV.

DoubleAction · 14/03/2020 17:02

UK has been added to the travel ban now

Lordfrontpaw · 14/03/2020 17:04

I saw that. He must have come on contact with an awful lot of people who are infected.

Patroclus · 14/03/2020 17:14

Yeah he had 'something about him' RedCrayons. 50 million from his dad.

Patroclus · 14/03/2020 17:31

oooooooooooo a degree in economics.

What is this latest thing with people desperately trying to prove idiotic right wing politicians arnt what we can see with our own senses?

I think people STILL believe all you need to do is just work really long hours and be a bit clever and you could also become a billionaire in a gold tower, peoplewho are constantly trying to tell me that actually Dorisorano Trumpson is actually really actually clever actually are in denial of the obvious fact its all down to nepotism and class.

TurOlive · 14/03/2020 21:50

He's not stupid. He's run a huge business empire and become leader of the free world, he must have some ability. I believe he also has a degree in Economics.

He inherited a huge business empire and then lost a bunch of money. Multiple of his businesses have been bankrupt.

EmmaBridgewater20 · 14/03/2020 22:43

I may upset people when I say this but I mean it in the most literal way of just a basic observation. I have never seen a full interview or press conference with him, I get too stressed and it upsets my cortisol levels. Anyhow I watched the two Coronavirus travel ban press conferences and honestly it is like he has some form of learning how difficulty or Global delay.

HoldMyLobster · 15/03/2020 15:04

BTW Trump has an honorary degree from Liberty University.

Yes, these guys.

www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/liberty-university-president-jerry-falwell-jr-says-in-person-classes-to-continue/2020/03/13/70b23a58-654e-11ea-acca-80c22bbee96f_story.html

"Even as many colleges and universities closed in response to the coronavirus threat, Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. went on Fox News on Friday morning to suggest the virus was a plot to undermine President Trump and to say his school would open as usual when students return from spring break on March 23."

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/03/2020 15:11

Is anyone else wondering if CV might finish him off - not just in a political sense, but literally? I mean, 73 years old, obese, very poorly nourished (apparently he rarely eats fruit or veg), and he does very little exercise because he thinks we're all born with a finite amount of energy and he doesn't want to use his up. I know he'll have access to the best medical care, but still...

Hopeisnotastrategy · 15/03/2020 15:12

I think in Coronavirus he has finally found something that even he can’t blag his way out of to his own deranged supporters. And that in an election year - its bound to be unsettling.

Andylion · 15/03/2020 15:15

He isn't much of a speaker but bigly is an actual word in reasonably common use in the US.

I am not American, but, as a Canadian who grew up watching more American tv and movies than Canadian, I have to say that I had never, ever heard the word "bigly" before he said it.

Heygirlheyboy · 15/03/2020 15:15

Obese?! Is he? He keeps.contradicting himself but he's always been incoherent. Can't believe bigly is a word!

DGRossetti · 15/03/2020 15:21

The wonderful Hmm thing about the modern age, is the fact that most people in the public eye that make it to POTUS will have a long and illustrious history of archive media in their wake. None more so than Donald "The Apprentice US", "Home Alone 2" Trump.

So there's no need to rely on a single spot example we can easily go back to 1989 - over 30 years ago - and see what he was like then ...
