To want to do a ouija board?

CassandraGoth · 13/03/2020 22:22

I’ve tried to prove to myself that ghosts exist for years. I’ve stayed in “haunted hoteld”, travelled to “ the most haunted island” etc and nothing has ever happened.

I want to do a ouija board ... as final proof that the supernatural does not exist but nobody will do one with me, not even people m that “don’t believe” or people that “want to believe” etc

I’ve done one on my own but nothing happened. AIBU for wanting someone to just humour me with this?

Don't be daft!

thistimelastweek · 13/03/2020 22:32

I don't believe in that shit. 100% don't believe.
I do believe it can fuck with the heads of people who want to believe in it.
Leave it be.

Fluffybutter · 13/03/2020 22:38

I have one but have never used it .
I’m not “woo” but I do enjoy visiting so called haunted places because I enjoy the stories .
My mum and dad said to never mess with stuff like that so that’s probably why I’m interested !

OlaEliza · 13/03/2020 22:39

I think you should leave shit you don't understand, well alone.

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 13/03/2020 22:49

A friend of my mums did a ouija board when she was a teen. Wished her step dad dead. He died a week later in a terrible car accident. I know this is pure coincidence. But the story put the absolute fear in me & put me off ever buying or participating in a ouija board.

Even if you don’t believe in the paranormal you should believe in the psychological effects and group hysteria messing with things like that can cause. My old high school had a wall put up over one part after students used a ouija board, maybe it became haunted maybe students became hysterical, doesn’t really matter other than it became enough of an issue they walled it off.

Weregoingonanadventure · 13/03/2020 22:51

It's a game. It was made as a game. There is nothing supernatural about it. It's a game!

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2020 22:54

Join a paranormal group.

There are loads of groups on FB that are into that crap - not that you need a board game to prove what you already know.

I'm sure they'll put you in touch with people in your local area.

I’ve done one, I was sceptical after watching it in tv, thought it was being pushed! However, I went with the most haunted team off of the tv and did one and it def worked .
We had many other paranormal experiences whilst there , I went because I wasn’t sure if I believed in it all, i 100% believe in it now.

user1488819536 · 13/03/2020 22:57

Ps, it won’t work on your own, you need the energy of other people.

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2020 22:57

Oh the most haunted team orf the telly? Grin

Nowt dodgy about them at all...

Lidon · 13/03/2020 23:01

Are you peddling nonsense or do you have researched facts to back that up?

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2020 23:02

Since when has gullibility been known as 'energy'?

Isitbedtimesoon · 13/03/2020 23:03

No, no no, no! Okay, imagine for a minute it's real (I believe it is, but accept not everyone does) You don't know what's going to come through and have no control over it. If you want to prove/disprove it to yourself then please dabble safely - go and see a (reputable) medium or go to your local spiritualist church.

KidLorneRoll · 13/03/2020 23:04

Just play monopoly. That's just as likely summon the dead.

(It's fucking bullshit).

Slith · 13/03/2020 23:08

Why not, it's a family board game after all.

YourVagesty · 13/03/2020 23:16

Ouija boards are terrifying.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 23:19

Oh come on!
We got climate change, Brexit and virus. We don't need Evil released as well now.🤷

Give it a year or two

Horsefeather · 13/03/2020 23:24

A nice game of Snakes and Ladders is just as likely call up spirits.

Honestly, OP, why dedicate so much energy to trying to disprove something that only the incredibly gullible believe?

happinessischocolate · 13/03/2020 23:27

Don't do it...

Either...it's a bullshit board game so what's the point

Or it genuinely will open a portal for the dead and you don't know who or what you're letting in 🤷‍♀️

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2020 23:27

Ouija boards are terrifying.

Do you find all squares of wood/cardboard terrifying?

Scbchl · 13/03/2020 23:27

Why dont you fo to a ghost tour vigil. Me and my friend went to one a few weeks ago and I have never laughed so much in all my life. It maybe wasnt meant to be entertaining like that, but it was. They had ouija boards. Cant say I'm convinced by anything that happened, infact I'm more convinced against the after life being real and before that I was a more leaning towards believer.

I still woukdnt do one in my house tho, just incase.

Khione · 13/03/2020 23:29

Used to play with one as a teenager.

In an old house (1800s). 3 teenage girls. Great fun. Always told us exactly the horrible things we expected. None of it happened.

No interest in doing it now but wouldn't be remotely worried to play again

madcatladyforever · 13/03/2020 23:29

Don't.

Rockingthestocking · 13/03/2020 23:42

We used to do them when we were kids....12 to 15 years old. We used to write all the letters and numbers then cut them out, lay them out on the table and get a glass, turn it upside down and put our fingers on it. Someone would call out 'is anyone there' and we would all giggle and get excited. Typical teen stuff really. Shit happened but only cos we thought it did. You think lots of things when you're young....influenced by hormones and an umblemished innocent mind. Of course, if you've sadly experienced shit by that age I think you sort of hope to experience more sht in order to make the previous shit more acceptable. Not sure that makes sense. I'm trying to say I believe that you need to come from a dark place in order to recognise a dark place. Dark places can be found anywhere and anytime. As a teen a Ouija board is a good place to find a dark place. Sadly, as an adult, the dark place finds you much easier.
I live those memories I have of scary Ouija boards, but they were innocent. I wouldn't do one now. No way
