AIBU to wear a poncho?

Just that really.
Was trying to find something high necked this morning in a vain attempt to hide the fact that I’ve ran out of a lighter foundation and I ended up discovering a long forgotten poncho.
I stood in front of the mirror for a while before concluding that I looked fucking ridiculous.
Are ponchos still a thing?
Should I rock it? I did used to live in it.

And yes, before anyone points out, this is possibly the most trivial AIBU ever.

Any techs where to buy some great ones? I've got huge norks so need to be careful with necklines...

Ooh that's nice, 5foot5! I'm going to have to finish my blanket and socks before embarking on any poncho projects.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 14/03/2020 20:03

i have sidetracked to a Giant scarf wrap but I shall return to the poncho!

lazylinguist · 14/03/2020 20:54

That's fab, Laurie! I can't believe a thread about ponchos has got to 105 posts. Grin Nice one, OP!

I've not really liked the patterns I've seen so far, so I'm thinking up my own.

Sort of along the lines of two giant granny squares joined across the top with a space for the head to go through, but also joined about halfway down the sides to create armholes. I got some pink varigated yarn cakes from Aldi. I don't normally wear pink, so it's a bit of an experiment.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/03/2020 16:00

@MulticolourMophead not sure about the large granny square but it reasonably simple to do with smaller squares joined and leave a gap for your head!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/03/2020 16:03

ooh here is a nice wafty granny poncho

Heartshappedsunglasses · 19/03/2020 16:38

I bought my son and I matching ones from Picallilly, they are soft and warm and fleece. Like an extra blanket. I think they are great, might not be the most fashion style ones as not all wafty so not work but great for walks at the weekend and wearing on the sofa...
My husband thinks we are nuts but at least we are warm.

MulticolourMophead · 19/03/2020 19:37

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow That's a nice pattern.
