I have multiple gallstones and am awaiting gallbladder removal surgery.

Currently experiencing a horrid gallbladder attack. Been in pain since 22;00 but the tramadol is wearing off. Will admit it's not the worse attack I've ever had. Very very uncomfortable though.

Worried if I go in and take some more I won't be in so much pain and am wasting their time or the next load of tramadol will kick in and I'll feel alright again.

It's also my 30th birthday today.and DS dosn't sleep well without me here (bought him into our bed with me and DH earlyer because he's a general terrible sleeper)

YABU - stay home, take more tramadol. Woman up.

YANBU - get a taxi to a+e and pray they decidde to remove gallbladder tonight as a birthday present instead of waiting another 4-6minths on the waiting list.

@hopefulhalf

Have you had gallstones? I had them throughout pregnancy and attacks continued after the birth (dismissed as a fussy FTM). I was admitted to hospital when my daughter was a week old and had to stay there for six weeks, as the lack of treatment had led to cholycystitis, pancreatitis and another infection. Attacks are agony-worse than giving birth. If the OP is having an attack and has been advised by medical professionals to go to hospital, that is exactly what she should do.

You're opinion is absolute nonsense, please try to have some empathy for other human beings, even if you can't relate to their exacg situation.

BaruFisher · 09/03/2020 09:15

Happy birthday.

The op and recovery is so much easier than an attack. Fingers crossed they can do it!

purplepandas · 09/03/2020 09:17

Happy birthday @Hileni and hoping you get the op today. Sounds like a tough day and totally understand that hospitals are difficult places for you. Glad the messages are helping. Flowers

revelsandrose · 09/03/2020 09:19

Good luck! Hope you get the operation today, I have had gallstones and during my worst attack I actually thought I was going to die, the pain is worse than childbirth. I've had mine removed and a few niggles afterwards but almost two years later it's absolutely fine. The operation wasn't too bad and I'm a total wimp!

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 09/03/2020 09:30

Happy Birthday Op 🎂. This is one birthday you are going to remember. I really hope you get your operation - fingers crossed for you.

Hileni · 09/03/2020 09:33

@Fedupofdoingit I have PTSD from the last time I was in a hospital. Posting and reading the supportive messages are really helping me ground and cope with feeling so vunerable.

You get it done today. I was in and out as a fat case when I had mine done so hopefully you might get your birthday evening at home.

X

Frownette · 09/03/2020 09:35

Aaaand we have another one: @Fedupofdoingit.

Are some people powered by spite and jealousy this morning? Nice bit of corona paranoia and scaremongering thrown in earlier as well.

Go and get some tea, plenty of sugar. Might work...

nettie434 · 09/03/2020 09:36

Happy Birthday Hileni. Hope you get your operation today.

Nomummyonlyzuul · 09/03/2020 09:39

jackstini · 09/03/2020 09:53

Happy Birthday @Hileni Flowers
Hope you get an op as a present and glad the pain is under control Smile

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 09/03/2020 09:55

Happy birthday!

I hope you manage to get the op. My fiancé’s uncle has been in hospital four times with gallbladder problems while awaiting surgery, he’s currently been in for three weeks Sad poor guy.

Illberidingshotgun · 09/03/2020 09:55

Happy birthday - I hope you get an operation as your present Grin. Keep posting all you need to - ignore those who are unsupportive, there's always a few negative people in life, but like the majority of people here I wish you well.

Hileni Happy Birthday 🥂🌺🍰

Can you try a meditation type thing, it might help a bit with the fear

Imagine yourself standing on the beach/mountaintop
The wind is blowing in your face quite strongly, you can close your eyes, lean into it and feel it supporting you. Your hair is whipping out behind you. Take a deep breath and relax into the wind, it will support you. Another deep breath and sigh. Then imagine opening you eyes and the sun is setting, wonderful pinks reflecting off the clouds, you can hear bird song and smell flowers and those warm end of day smells ypu get in the countryside. Take a big breath and enjoy the lovely fragrance, let your stress seep out of you as the sun sets and darkness sweeps over the land.

If that setting isnt right for you, you can try something similar that does work, maybe being at home with DH and DS etc

Princessfaffalot · 09/03/2020 09:57

Happy birthday! Hope you get the op today Flowers

Notgoodatchoosingnames · 09/03/2020 09:58

Happy birthday. Hope you get the present you were after and all goes well x

Hileni · 09/03/2020 10:07

@SeaToSki that's gorgeous! I've copied and pasted that into my phone's bites so I can read it over and over anytime I need! Thanks so much for that :)

Happy birthday. Flowers

And best wishes that you have the op and for the op.

Schuyler · 09/03/2020 10:14

Hileni I’m glad you went to hospital. Sorry it’s not the ideal birthday but you can make it one hell of a celebration when you’re better. Take care. Flowers

@Fedupofdoingit
I have a serious long term health condition that often means treatment in intensive care. People in ICU post quite frequently to the online support group when they’re in respiratory failure.

sprinklemagicinmyhair · 09/03/2020 10:15

Glad you have felt well enough to give us a running commentary on what has been happening.

People like you shouldn't be allowed internet access.

SoupDragon · 09/03/2020 10:19

I see a couple of people could do with this inspirational meme.

Should I get a taxi to A&E
Poppinjay · 09/03/2020 10:20

Glad you have felt well enough to give us a running commentary on what has been happening.

What is it about someone receiving support on an internet forum that makes you so bitter?

Are you jealous or just generally an unhappy, unpleasant person who gets a kick out of kicking people when they're down.

notanurse2017 · 09/03/2020 10:22

Gallstone pain is the absolute worst, Op. When I had it, I was unable to function properly. It actually really scared me because I had no idea when it would stop.

May you feel better soon 😊

xJune88 · 09/03/2020 10:27

Hope they operate and get it sorted for you, remember this is temporary and this is a different situation (I understand my birth/induction/afterwards was horrendous and stuck in hospital for 11 days with a poorly baby and no support) they are going to make you better try to stay calm if possible. And sorry it's your birthday and you're stuck there!! Take care x

RB68 · 09/03/2020 10:29

with gallstones you don't nec feel ill unless you are in the throw up everything phase, once the first lot of pain meds are in you feel fragile and uncomfortable but need distraction or th focus becomes the residual pain (I have never known anything get rid of the pain totally in both my and others experience and yes that includes morphine) so I can understand been on here to distract and occupy whilst hanging about in hospital.

The reality is its best to wait to do a gallstone removal until the inflamation goes down so she may have a few days in hospital with or without pain while they monitor.

I was lucky the surgeons were both women and realised I have my new born prem in scbu when I was readmitted with gallstone issues so they kept me in for 5 days till it all settled and there was space on the list. I had to cope with only paracetamol for my whole pregnancy even when I had to have a stone removed as it had released and was blcoking liver and kidneys and I was going into organ failure
