I have multiple gallstones and am awaiting gallbladder removal surgery.

Currently experiencing a horrid gallbladder attack. Been in pain since 22;00 but the tramadol is wearing off. Will admit it's not the worse attack I've ever had. Very very uncomfortable though.

Worried if I go in and take some more I won't be in so much pain and am wasting their time or the next load of tramadol will kick in and I'll feel alright again.

It's also my 30th birthday today.and DS dosn't sleep well without me here (bought him into our bed with me and DH earlyer because he's a general terrible sleeper)

YABU - stay home, take more tramadol. Woman up.

YANBU - get a taxi to a+e and pray they decidde to remove gallbladder tonight as a birthday present instead of waiting another 4-6minths on the waiting list.

@Hileni
I’m so pleased to hear how well you are doing, and that hospital was a more positive experience for you this time 🙂

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 11/03/2020 23:36

@fudgesmummy (on the assumption you are now well so it’s OK to joke) that would be a dream come true as far as weight loss is concerned!

DaveMinion · 12/03/2020 06:03

Glad you are doing well and relaxing @Hileni. I wish I had seen your post sooner to put you at rest. But you had others here to do that xx.

Sorry for the mistake @ArgumentativeAardvaark 🤦🏻‍♀️

Glad you too are getting one well @fudgesmummy. Xx

  • My gallstone op was private, maybe getting to keep the evidence was a perk of that? Gallbladder itself was taken away to be tested, never saw that and would not have wanted to.*

My surgeon, pretty sure he was winding me up, said they open (uninfected) gallbladders during the surgery, slice it open and check the stone size. Mine boasted he's the "leader" in retrieving the largest (my) stone!

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 14/03/2020 10:11

@SimplySteveRedux they won’t open it up inside you. He means after they take it out. Stones are never removed leaving the GB in situ, it always comes out, and there is no way they’d open it up insider you and allow all the bike to leak into your abdominal cavity. You can watch the op on You Tube, the GB is placed into a sealed bag inside you then the bag is extracted through the hole next to your tummy button.

Sorry, I meant they opened it after removal on a surgical plate - apologies for any misunderstanding.

@Hileni, I’ve only just seen your update and I am so glad you are home and recovering well.

Brilliant timing with the mattress topper! 💐

What a lovely message. So glad you had such a positive experience in hospital.

Ostagazuzulum · 15/03/2020 22:22

@hileni I've just come back and read through the thread. What a lovely update you've given. I'm so pleased you were able to have the op and had a positive experience in hospital. You honestly sound like such a lovely person.

My gallstone op was private, maybe getting to keep the evidence was a perk of that?

Mine was NHS and I got handed my stones in a tube... Hundreds of them! No wonder I was so unwell (I had pancreatitis for nearly five days before anyone took me seriously).

Really glad you’ve been treated so well @Hileni and glad you are now out of pain. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
