Should I get a taxi to A&E

I have multiple gallstones and am awaiting gallbladder removal surgery.

Currently experiencing a horrid gallbladder attack. Been in pain since 22;00 but the tramadol is wearing off. Will admit it's not the worse attack I've ever had. Very very uncomfortable though.

Worried if I go in and take some more I won't be in so much pain and am wasting their time or the next load of tramadol will kick in and I'll feel alright again.

It's also my 30th birthday today.and DS dosn't sleep well without me here (bought him into our bed with me and DH earlyer because he's a general terrible sleeper)

YABU - stay home, take more tramadol. Woman up.

YANBU - get a taxi to a+e and pray they decidde to remove gallbladder tonight as a birthday present instead of waiting another 4-6minths on the waiting list.

I dont wish to worry you but you are at risk of pancreatitis when you have gall stones ,as this happened to my mum .

@Hileni, hope you're feeling a bit better now and that they come up with a plan. At least hope the IV drugs are helping.
I had my birthday in hospital a couple of weeks back - it was pants, but we celebrated properly when I came out - hope you can do the same.

I pressed YABU and now I feel bad!

I hope you're ok.

sprinklemagicinmyhair · 09/03/2020 08:41

think getting a taxi to A&E in the middle of the night to wait with people who may or may not have Covid-19 to demand a non emergency operation from overstreched hospital staff is an excellent idea-crack on.

I think being sarcastic to people who are genuinely unwell, with a condition that absolutely justifies a hospital admission, is a bit cunty. How about just not doing it?

The risk to OP here re her gallbladder is much bigger than the risk of catching fucking Coronavirus Confused

sprinklemagicinmyhair · 09/03/2020 08:42

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY OP Thanks

Hileni · 09/03/2020 08:47

Hi all, the doctor just said the surgeons are going to come round and see me soon and if I'm the right candidate will operate today! So please cross all your fingers and toes for me!!

The bloods came.back clear. No infection so hopefully that will help. Thanks again for your lovely messages. Having a little cry because I'm quite overwhelmed with being here but you're all being so lovely. And thanks for the birthday messages! I don't have that many friends in real life so it's really nice to feel so popular.

I'm also missing DH and my lovely little baby DS. We were planning a lovely day at the farm today as DH booked the day off work for my birthday (thank god)

I pressed YABU and now I feel bad!

You know you can press the other button and it will change!

Don't be scared Flowers

I had mine done as "an emergency" after 6 weeks in hospital, because I also had pancreatitis and multiple infections. The surgery isn't too bad in the scheme of things and the relief of no longer having attacks was indescribable!

Honeyroar · 09/03/2020 09:04

Happy birthday. Fantastic news that it’s not infected, and it’s good that they may be getting it done soon. Then you can go home and not have to have this looming over you - and no more painful moments. You’re doing well.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 09/03/2020 09:05

Off to hospital Hileni has darted
With her gallbladder soon to be parted
She hopes that takes place
And if that is the case
She’ll end her Birthday with less than she started

Happy Birthday

gingersausage · 09/03/2020 09:08

@hopefulhalf I really hope you never have to experience the pain of cholecystitis. Luckily it’s not caused by being an arsehole on message boards.

Hileni · 09/03/2020 09:09

Chase, that's the best poem! I'm sending that to my mum, she'll love it!! Grin

Glad you have felt well enough to give us a running commentary on what has been happening

Does that make you feel better? It takes no effort to post from a phone in a hospital bed,FFS Hmm
