To think my friend was incredibly unfair?

I look after a friend's 2 primary school DC's when they've finished school, every Monday. They often have swimming lessons so I take them to that, whilst I have a short swim with my DS and then get ready to get them.

They are on a small break from it so we did a fun swim instead. Their mum asked me to take them to Pizza Express for dinner. The one she was thinking of is no longer there so I took them to Pizza Hut style place instead.

My own DS was asleep and wasn't having anything. We got a huge pizza with bottomless drinks for all of us. The kids had an ice cream each. This all came to £16 so a fairly good deal. Loads of pizza was left over so I packed it up for the kids.

When we got to their house I handed over the change (the mum had given me £40 for their food). The receipt for it all was coincidentally in there to.

I've just received a text from friend saying ''Hi, was your drink at the pizza place paid for by you? Just wondered as the money was for [NAME REMOVED] and [NAME REMOVED]. The pizza was obviously huge so not bothered at that being shared! "

In truth I didn't pay for my own drunk, no. It was £2.70. Yet I don't charge if I've ever picked something up for the boys quickly. I don't charge for petrol going to and from their school or swimming.

Was I really being that cheeky or is she rude? Blush

Pay the £2.70 and ditch the crazy.

LaurieMarlow · 06/03/2020 20:44

Jesus what a dickish thing to do.

No more child minding for her and send a bill for the petrol.

Walnutwhipster · 06/03/2020 20:45

Time to call it quits, CF!

HollowTalk · 06/03/2020 20:45

How many hours a week do you spend with her kids?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/03/2020 20:46

“Dear friend,

I cannot believe that you begrudge me a £2.70 drink, when I have looked after your children for free every week! I guess that tells me all I need to know about our friendship and how much you value what I have done for you.

Clearly you will not be wanting me to carry on looking after the boys, when I have ‘defrauded’ you of £2.70!

AStarSoBright · 06/03/2020 20:46

£10 a month?? Does she pay for you to go swimming? She's taking the absolute piss. Tell her it no longer works for you.

HollowTalk · 06/03/2020 20:46

How many hours a week do you spend with her kids?

arethereanyleftatall · 06/03/2020 20:46

Lol!! £10 a month?!?
For what, 2 kids for 2/3 hours every week?
So, going rate round my way is £6 per child per hour or part thereof, plus whatever costs.
So, (2x 3 x 6) plus £2 petrol per week. £38 per week. £160 per month.
You've saved her £150 per month.
It is INSANE she begrudged you a drink.
Please, please, please never ever do anything for her again.

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 06/03/2020 20:46

Does she pay you to look after her kids?

needmorecoffeeandcake · 06/03/2020 20:46

Tell her your busy next week. And the one after that. And forever.

Refreshed · 06/03/2020 20:47

The arrangement has gone on for around 6/7 weeks now. Swimming was closed a few weeks back and we did a film evening with treats, popcorn etc. I wouldn't dream of asking for anything for it so I'm so saddened I have been asked for this money Sad

I feel like I've been taken for a muggy cow

£10 a month and no fuel money? Insane, you’re surely losing money doing her a favour- and she’s clearly not even grateful. I’d also be telling her I’m no longer available.

AnneTwackie · 06/03/2020 20:47

That’s horrible. What a cheeky cow.

flumposie · 06/03/2020 20:48

Please point out to her how this has made you feel. Totally unfair of her.

Bunnybigears · 06/03/2020 20:48

The phrase 'fuck off' would not be out of place here.

Kastanien · 06/03/2020 20:48

Please tell me you are now going to end this arrangement? She is a total CF!

arethereanyleftatall · 06/03/2020 20:48

You have been taken for an absolute mug.
On the bright side, you never have to do it again.

annamie · 06/03/2020 20:48

Time to bring this arrangement to an end.

She thinks your the hired help. not a friend doing her a favour.

It would stick in my craw to giver her free childcare, free treats for her son now and again, having to pay incidental swimming costs to facilitate her son's lessons and being made to fee like for a £2.70 drink.

HollowTalk · 06/03/2020 20:49

I feel like I've been taken for a muggy cow

What do you mean - that she thinks you're sponging off her?

solomonsfish85 · 06/03/2020 20:49

That's a disgrace! She is taking advantage of you! Dont let her make a fool of you and tell her make her own arrangements in future .. cheeky bitch

Lillybelle05 · 06/03/2020 20:49

Tell her to pay for petrol. And a living hourly wage for looking after her kids.

Hmm Unbelievable.

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 06/03/2020 20:49

That's because you have been taken for a mug OP.

I think I'd send her a text asking for her bank details so you can refund her the £2.70 and also wish her good luck in finding childcare for £10 a month as you're handing in your notice.

She's a CF
If the highest order

itsallthedramaMickiloveit · 06/03/2020 20:49

JFC!!

How did she have the balls to send that message?!

I would reply.

"Is this a joke? I assumed after all I do for you you wouldn't begrudge me one drink!!"

Symbollove · 06/03/2020 20:49

£10 a month!! Wow!! She is tight! You pick her kids up Atleast 5 times a month and she pay you a measly £10 for the whole month!! That's a joke

You need to ask her if she's actually being serious about the drink, minor amount, so did she think her kids will eat £40 worth of food, the didn't but she's crying over £2.70? I hope you give her a piece of your mind, am fuming on your behalf, I would go return £2.70 to her and tell her how much you have paid towards her children plus petrol and that arrangement no longer works with you

annamie · 06/03/2020 20:49
