I’m not talking about food/drink.

Was it a badge with a birdie friend on it which you had picked up in a welsh hostel? Because in that case your colleague was probably perfectly justified in getting rid.

Skierrdery · 07/03/2020 12:28

A party political flyer?

Skierrdery · 07/03/2020 12:31

As you're being unreasonable on this thread, I'd say it's safe to assume you're unreasonable in real life, so I'm going to go with - your colleague was correct.

recklessruby · 07/03/2020 12:38

This is like I spy....what does it begin with?
If you re the geography teacher in room 8 who keeps a mouldy cup on her desk yabu.

Jimmers · 07/03/2020 12:38

Was it a cheque you hadn’t cancelled?

TheReluctantCountess · 07/03/2020 12:39

It must have been something offensive. The mind boggles!

FairytaleofBykerGrove · 07/03/2020 12:41

Was it the mumsnet post where you finally tell us wtf it was?

HappyHammy · 07/03/2020 12:52

If they texted you to tell you what they did then guessing you werent actually there at the time so maybe they had asked you several times to remove it. Why wont you just tell us all the facts instead of only your side of the story.

steff13 · 07/03/2020 13:13

YABU for being so weird and cryptic.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/03/2020 13:19

Was a Mexican standoff? Two of you refusing to deal with an old KFC wrapper and colleague has intervened to save you from the war of pettiness even tho you are obv in the right

TiddlestheCat · 07/03/2020 14:03

Was it a handmade Coronavirus mask made out of a paper towel, a couple of paperclips and an elastic band?

A huge stockpile of toilet paper?

A signed photograph of Daniel O'Donnell?

TiddlestheCat · 07/03/2020 14:11

Was it your dear late pet mouse taxidermy business card holder??

Or your personalised rabbit toaster that had failed the office safety testing audit?

AnneKipanki · 07/03/2020 14:14

You are not going to tell us .
If you left anything I would chuck it now too .

HighNetGirth · 07/03/2020 14:14

Crap way to handle it regardless of what the item was. Texting afterwards is just rubbing it in. Op, you need to devise a revenge strategy. We are all here to help you.

RingPiece · 07/03/2020 14:19

You’d take a postcode off a colleagues desk, rip it up and bin it?

Yes
I hate actual real-life postcodes

Reginabambina · 07/03/2020 14:20

Either there was something wrong with the item or with your colleague. Is it something that might give someone rage that you deem to be inoffensive like a ‘woman: adult human female’ postcard? Or maybe a hammer and sickle?

NearlyGranny · 07/03/2020 14:27

I reckon it's something feminist or sexist, gender critical or Brexit related and the colleague takes the opposite view. High-handed and very unpleasant behaviour, including the text, and should have been handled through HR who probably woukd have told the colleague to get over themselves.

Colleague had better play the scorched earth tactic on their own desk!

redcarbluecar · 07/03/2020 14:37

Generally speaking I’d say this is not ok, but context is all.

LikeGlitterandGold · 07/03/2020 14:38

Was it an alphabetic letter? I remember reading that a good way to get rid of CFers was to print out the lower case t in Times Roman (it needed to be printed as large as you can) and to put it up on the wall.

I did that and a friend of the boss (who was the worst CF) came in, saw it and said "that's the most offensive thing I've ever seen" and he left. We never saw him again!

CustardySergeant · 07/03/2020 14:46

Was it this pencil sharpener?

To think a colleague has no right to take something from your desk and throw it in the bin?
Changeofname79 · 07/03/2020 15:14

There must be some sort of back story here, surely no one would actually do that for no reason?!!

thequeenbeyondthewall · 07/03/2020 19:04

We still don't know?!?!

hellcarryingahandbag · 07/03/2020 20:04

Was it a racy picture of her granny?
Your collection of mould?
A letter from Sharon, detailing how she snapped and farted while eating pom bears, crying at the Sistine Chapel, because she was on a stopover from someone's wedding in Maui, where she was meeting up with an elderly korean lady?

hellcarryingahandbag · 07/03/2020 20:13

What was it????
