Is it something to tell HR about? —Or would that be too outing because they’d recognise you?—

Lolapusht · 07/03/2020 06:05

Definitely log it with 101 OP.

WhatShe5aid · 07/03/2020 06:32

A baby picture of Balonz?

SpaceDinosaur · 07/03/2020 06:44

Tell HR on Monday along with the text as evidence. No, you're not unreasonable. You are however a Pom for keeping us all guessing.

I was going to suggest a meditation bowl you were prone to ringing when you got stressed but then I saw that bitch face ripped it up so now I'm thinking an army of origami platypus!

ElderAve · 07/03/2020 06:51

On the face of it , it seems a very odd thing to do but there must have been a reason they decided to do it?

Catting · 07/03/2020 06:53

So. If they texted you to say they had done it, they MUST have felt justified in doing so.
What was their reason?? Been there too long? Offensive? Not the place to display 'private' things??

TitianaTitsling · 07/03/2020 07:02

Is it an invitation to the wedding of their ex and the OW? Who you are or you are friends/related to OW? Hmm

JudyCoolibar · 07/03/2020 07:15

What did the text say?

EveoftheWar · 07/03/2020 07:23

Did they say why they did it?

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 07/03/2020 07:39

It was something like a postcard, photograph etc ... something small and personal that was given to me

Lucky pants?

BigFatLiar · 07/03/2020 07:49

Lucky pants?

No she said small.Grin
If it was small, inoffensive and meant something to you the they were wrong to bin it especially if they knew it had meaning to you.

StegosaurusRex · 07/03/2020 07:55

You people have really weird ideas of things that are similar to a postcard or photo and can be ripped up 😂Bunch of loons!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 07/03/2020 08:04

Was it something making a political statement?

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/03/2020 08:05

Steg
You’re right. Definitely was a birthday card with a picture of her dh holding Garda Olaf’s cucumber...

catwithnohat · 07/03/2020 08:18

Are you one of these people that has any amount of crap on your desk, starting with the plant and moving on to family photos of three generations/cat/dog/hampster/homemade crap from the kids/grandkids/cutlery/entire china place setting/enough condiments to stock a ship.

If the answer is yes then they aren't and you are (BU)

AnneKipanki · 07/03/2020 08:37

Have not RTFT .
Will later.
Just got to clear a desk or two .

HeronLanyon · 07/03/2020 08:43

Voucher for spa day ?

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 07/03/2020 08:48

You've given a key piece of 'outing' information, yet you won't say what the item was. The very fact that someone took it and deliberately ripped it up is probably more identifying than the offending object itself. Unless it was International Nick Something From Your Colleague's Desk and Destroy It Day.

Some hilarious suggestions here though. Almost worth the mystery.Grin

RiftGibbon · 07/03/2020 09:04

Slightly off topic but someone near me lives in a second-floor flat with a balcony. On the balcony flies a US flag with a full technicolour image of Trump.
How can I destroy it?
I am not in the USA.

TARSCOUT · 07/03/2020 09:13

I have nothing funny to suggest but its freaking annoying you won't say what it is. We already know it has been ripped up and the person texted you to say they'd done it so not really outing yourself if you tell us what it is. A postcard of a bull fighter, I would have ripped that up?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/03/2020 09:18

Was a picture of Boris Johnson doing a get Brexit Done thumbs up gurn?
A white feather that you gave to people to scared to face the boss?
Your membership card for the Donald Trump fan club?

(Your colleague was wrong and it’s a matter for HR)

NoveltyFunsy · 07/03/2020 09:22

@newroundhere

This is going in Classics, right @mumsnetHQ ??

Oh god I hope not

SnickettyLemon · 07/03/2020 09:24

OP, not one person on this thread can possibly give a true opinion of whether you or colleague were unreasonable ( unless said colleague is reading this). So...ask the colleague why they did it, ask other colleagues, as chances are they know what the item was, but don't waste time asking us unless you are willing to reveal what the item(RIP) was!

AnneKipanki · 07/03/2020 09:31

Signed photo from BJ .

AnneKipanki · 07/03/2020 09:32

Haha @ChazsBrilliantAttitude .
