To think that some Mumsnetters hate men?

Ruby8719 · 05/03/2020 14:53

Am I being unreasonable to think that some (not all) mumsnetters hate men and can’t wait to jump in and tell women to leave their husbands?

Obviously there are a lot of stories on here about husbands/boyfriends/dads that sound like arseholes but the amount of comments I see from strangers telling women to leave their men for making a mistake is crazy!!

I agree with Hooves here. Your sons may end up with girlfriends/wives/daughters. Of course they should understand periods.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 18:57

As regards equality - I don't know how we can measure it. In some areas men have more of an advantage, in other areas women have more of an advantage and in yet others both are the same. I don't know how we calculate who, if anyone, has the greatest advantage.

Which sex has which advantages?

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:00

Also, it’s interesting to me that you are once again using class argument to make your point - despite your insistence that everything should be based on individual cases.

The goalposts are moving so fast they are blurry.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:08

Another intelligent post from you Eckhart 👍

Eckhart · 06/03/2020 19:10

Another pointless, personal insult that's got nothing to do with the discussion at hand, pump

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 06/03/2020 19:12

Exactly Eckhart

Pumper - I have got no idea who really has what advantages because there are too many variables. What carries more weight? Sex, class, wealth, race, age, disability or able bodied? I have no idea.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:13

Ah ok. It’s men. Men have the upper hand. We don’t live in an equal society, so as I said many pages ago - if you want men and women to get identical responses on here, you’ve a long way to go.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:14

What did your goalposts post add to the discussion at hand Eckhart?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 06/03/2020 19:22

So a disabled men has advantage over an able bodied woman?

Women live longer than men - that's an advantage.

Generally in divorce women retain custody of the children

Women have much more freedom with regards to expressing themselves - emotionally, in the way that they dress, with jobs, toys, hobbies.

Women aren't regarded with suspicion if they choose to work with children or in caring professions.

Again though, these are just wild generalisations and I think there are many other factors that apply too.

Women live longer than men - that's an advantage. biology - men run faster than women

Generally in divorce women retain custody of the children - because society sees women as caregivers

Women have much more freedom with regards to expressing themselves - emotionally, in the way that they dress, with jobs, toys, hobbies. Toxic masculinity.

Women aren't regarded with suspicion if they choose to work with children or in caring professions. - because society sees women as caregivers

Again though, these are just wild generalisations and I think there are many other factors that apply too. - do you mean like the gender pay gap and the fact that two women per week are murdered by men?

Eckhart · 06/03/2020 19:29

I don't think that outright insulting someone strengthens your position, pump Why do you feel the need to do it? My comment was about the thread, and whilst you might not have found any value in it, others may have. Because not everybody agrees with you.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:30

You quoted my post and made a sarcastic comment. Why do you feel the need to do that?

Eckhart · 06/03/2020 19:35

I said you moved the goalposts because you moved the goalposts. It's an analogy, not sarcasm. I didn't question any of your personal qualities. It's not the same thing.
Are you going to answer my question, now I've answered yours?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 06/03/2020 19:39

Pumperthepumper

You asked me for examples of where women have advantage over men and you simply dismissed them all, in some cases with unrelated or irrelevant points.

I could do exactly the same if you listed ways in which men have advantage over women.

You refuse to accept any other point of view so what is the point in this?

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:41

I felt the need to retaliate because I felt your post was a dig at me and it added nothing to the discussion.

So Eckhart, do we have equality between the sexes or not?

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:42

You refuse to accept any other point of view so what is the point in this?

Honestly Hooves, fuck knows. You also refuse to accept any other point of view (on every thread you But What About The Men on) so what’s the point?

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:44

I could do exactly the same if you listed ways in which men have advantage over women.

Men kill two women per week in the UK. Dismiss that advantage.

Eckhart · 06/03/2020 19:44

No, I've never said or thought that we do.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:45

That’s why men get different responses Eckhart. Guess that’s the end of this thread.

Eckhart · 06/03/2020 19:50

So, the way to end inequality against women is to treat individual, innocent men worse than individual, innocent women.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:51

Nope, the way to end inequality is to stop excusing the Good Men from any responsibility from the Bad Men, and stop making it a women’s issue instead of a men’s one.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 06/03/2020 19:51

Men kill two women per week in the UK. Dismiss that advantage.

How is that an advantage? You have a very warped view of the world. What a bizarre argument.

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:51

Pumperthepumper · 06/03/2020 19:54

It’s not an argument, it’s a fact. Men are killing women at the rate of two per week - so let’s not pretend there’s any question over which sex has the better deal in society. Women are dying at the hands of men at a rate of two per week and you are confused at whether or not we have equality in the UK? It’s you who has the warped view, I’m afraid.
