Kids dressing as Mrs Hinch for world book day

I really like Mrs Hinch, I love how she has built her brand, capitalised on it, I think she works very hard. I am not slating her at all , I think there is housework to be done, and she does it with humour and I'm pleased how well it's working for her.

But damn it's depressing seeing all the young girls surrounded by dusters and hoovers and cleaning products for World Book Day on her stories

Yanbu. But the whole women cleaning as a hobby fad depresses me anyway so I may be biased.

I wonder if it's a case of 'shit, we've got nothing to make a costume out of but plenty of dusters'. Plus, it's a bit of a joke isn't it?

TBH, I get where you're coming from. WBD is, one assumes, about aspiration and adventure and life's possibilities. Not hoovering.

Should send some kids in as Mrs Beeton's, level it up a bit.

That's just empirically not true though. Plenty of entitled adults do zero housework on a daily basis - usually only ones with penises.
I think it's just a quick costume. But obviously not a children's book. Mind you I dressed up as a Noel Coward character as a child for fancy dress so I'm not judging unusual choices.
But I would prefer a load of Hermione's to a load of Mrs Hinch's.

Mrs Hinch are doing it because they want them to think cleaning is for women, I imagine it's because it's an easy costume to put together last minute......some dusters and a bit of pledge......sorted! You're way over thinking this.

And it is depressing because by 'kids' you mean 'girls'. I doubt there are (m)any boys being trussed up in cleaning garb by their parents and posted on Instagram.

I've never met anyone who enjoys cleaning only on MN. It is depressing and a v. boring costume.

Ahh this is depressing. I don’t admire or like her at all, I’ll be pleased when people stop posting ‘tap to tidy’ posts on Instagram, it’s tedious as hell. It’s setting girls back a fair few decades, reducing us to ‘’housewives’ again.

Although I know the kardashians aren’t a book.. people seem to dress their kids up as anything now!
