Kids dressing as Mrs Hinch for world book day

I really like Mrs Hinch, I love how she has built her brand, capitalised on it, I think she works very hard. I am not slating her at all , I think there is housework to be done, and she does it with humour and I'm pleased how well it's working for her.

But damn it's depressing seeing all the young girls surrounded by dusters and hoovers and cleaning products for World Book Day on her stories Sad

Not a fan but probably slightly jealous that I’ve been cleaning mad for years but no internet fans to help me pay for home improvements/ extensions for me to then show off?
Totally agree though not the spirit of world book day where children could be learning new and exciting authors. Instead obsessed mothers projecting.

WTFdidwedo · 05/03/2020 15:26

All the children round here were dressed in the usual Julia Donaldson, Peter Rabbit, superhero, princess etc. costumes. Noone on my Facebook had a Mrs Hinch costume I'm pleased to say.

Italiangreyhound · 05/03/2020 15:29

Elouera
"Am I the only one who had to google who/what Mrs Hinch is??"

No, I had to as well.

it's bloody depressing if any young person is really interested in housework!

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 05/03/2020 15:29

Maybe her publisher's marketing department are just very clever...

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 05/03/2020 15:31

Funny how no boys need a quick easy costume. Just girls...

I don't understand how you come to that conclusion

Thisismytimetoshine · 05/03/2020 15:32

If any boys were sent in wielding a feather duster I’ll eat my hat.

Reginabambina · 05/03/2020 15:34

It’s not a bad as the children turning up as comic book/film characters. At least Mrs hitch comes from an actual book.

Were there little boys dressed up as a cleaner?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 05/03/2020 15:37

A comic book is a story book with drawings.

A cleaning 'guide' is not a story of any kind.

Lynda07 · 05/03/2020 15:42

Why only girls, what are the boys wearing or is it an all girl school?

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/03/2020 15:43

*I see her as a positive role model, don’t you?

No. I don’t see her as a ‘role model’ at all, because I don’t aspire to me a good cleaner.

You're being too generous Grin A book of dot to dots and recipes (I use that word loosely) has no literary value!

Lynda07 · 05/03/2020 15:44

I hadn't heard of Mrs Hinch either.

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/03/2020 15:44

Loads of boys in my children’s school dressed in football kits!

qazxc · 05/03/2020 15:45

What kids book has Mrs Hinch in it?

adaline · 05/03/2020 15:46

It’s not a bad as the children turning up as comic book/film characters.

A comic book is still a book, and plenty of films are based on books Confused

outofyourhand · 05/03/2020 15:51

@lastqueenofscotland Hit the nail on the head.

halfsoaked · 05/03/2020 15:53

easy costume or not, it's not anything that a son or daughter of mine would go as - Mrs Hinch (whoever she is, I gather it's something to do with housework) is not welcome in this house.

Shinycat · 05/03/2020 15:56

@PoliticalBiscuit I'm going with YANBU, but that's because I LOATHE Mrs fucking Hinch and everything she represents.

PointlessAddict · 05/03/2020 15:57

Yanbu. But the whole women cleaning as a hobby fad depresses me anyway so I may be biased.

This.

OP if you’re a fan of Mrs H you’re buying into all this crap so are perpetuating this nonsense. Same as the stupid women buying their daughters hampers of cleaning products for their daughter’s birthday’s

PotholeParadise · 05/03/2020 16:00

Whaaaaaaa?

Mrs Hinch doesn't come from any book! She's a social medja personage who has had a ghostwritten book of cleaning tips posted under her name. Her biggest contribution to promoting literacy is the captions on her instagram posts aimed at adults!

Meanwhile, children and teens have read comic books for pleasure for over 50 years! Comic books are their own, entirely valid genre of literature!

PointlessAddict · 05/03/2020 16:00

Also this. She is goddawful and her grey B & M ‘d house is dull as fuck

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/03/2020 16:02

???

She ‘wrote’ a book of cleaning tips. That does not make her a character in a book.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 05/03/2020 16:08

I’d rather they dress as her than a kardashian. I see her as a positive role model, don’t you?

She's the Kardashian of cleaning.
