Kids dressing as Mrs Hinch for world book day

I really like Mrs Hinch, I love how she has built her brand, capitalised on it, I think she works very hard. I am not slating her at all , I think there is housework to be done, and she does it with humour and I'm pleased how well it's working for her.

But damn it's depressing seeing all the young girls surrounded by dusters and hoovers and cleaning products for World Book Day on her stories Sad

In some homes, there really aren’t many books, but I agree this is particularly sad.

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 05/03/2020 18:26

I also don't think this thread is directed at Hinch - more her avid adult fans who have dictated their kids WBD costume choices to them?
cool yy you would think so since the thread is about DCs dressing as her (which she can't control) but somehow (like every thread on here since Tattle discovered we exist) it also features a lot of posts directed at her.

Thefaceofboe · 05/03/2020 18:55

@TheMagiciansMewTwo I discovered tattle a few days ago and read the threads on Mrs hinch. They are vile nasty bullies on that site.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 05/03/2020 19:04

My toes are curling at same of the vacuous comments on this thread. I'm hoping and praying that "at least Mrs Hinch comes from a book" is a joke or a genuine case of mistaken identity.

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2020 19:17

I have nothing against Mrs Hinch, she is quite entertaining if a bit samey-there's only so many times you can watch someone clean already clean stuff.

But there is no way even though she has 'written' 2 books that there is any connection to WBD and children dressing up for school. Her books are more like notebooks and dot to dot/colouring in, there's no plot!

Me too.

maddiemookins16mum · 05/03/2020 19:29

Ny niece went as an Argos catalogue a few years ago.

4cats2kids · 05/03/2020 19:30

Schools are missing a beat here. Get all the girls to dress as Mrs Hinch and zoflora the school for Coronavirus while they are at it

PotholeParadise · 05/03/2020 19:32

Maybe they're thinking of the Grinch?

ScarlettBlaize · 05/03/2020 19:33

@flippyflapper What a nasty bunch you can be, is she doing you any harm? Hurting you in anyway? Nope. Honestly i bet alot of you were posting "be kind" messages when caroline flack died.

What?

I am not a hincher before anyone starts, just no need for it

Wtf is a 'hincher'?

lazylinguist · 05/03/2020 19:37

What PotholeParadise said. It's bloody depressing. World Book Day in schoops should be about actual proper children's books. And I can't believe people think that being an 'influencer' is in any way admirable or a good thing.

Hopoindown31 · 05/03/2020 19:37

I am constantly surprised at how far one can stretch the definition of 'literature' for a world book day costume.

TurquoiseDress · 05/03/2020 19:38

No idea who Mrs Hinch is, will go off for a google!

Maybe she'll inspire me to get all house proud...or maybe not.

Am I allowed to admit losing the will to do housework most of the time. I full time outside the home, can I use that as an excuse?

Doidoit19 · 05/03/2020 19:40

@Skyejuly

She has been caught out lying loads on tattle!

Oh, you're one of those 🙄 because Tattle is such an amazing website, full of bitchy women who go on with the sole purpose of dragging other women down and saying disgusting things about their children.

halcyondays · 05/03/2020 19:41

If people are daft enough to follow her advice to mix bleach with other chemicals, she may well be doing them harm.

PoliticalBiscuit · 05/03/2020 19:42

Thanks for the interesting responses for this, for once I didn't know if I was being U! I just found it utterly depressing, and couldn't articulate why.

And no, I didn't share any "be kind" memes, ecause I think it's more or less used to say that women should "be quiet".

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2020 19:49

Tattle is very funny. Blush Someone posted this which sums it up for me-

1. It's World Book Day, not "Your mum's favourite Internet salesperson" Day

RedRedWines · 05/03/2020 19:56

This is one of the most depressing things I’ve read on here today and aibu is rarely a lighthearted read

Skyejuly · 05/03/2020 20:31

I dont post on tattle but I have had a look and it was quite amusing.

everythingisginandroses · 05/03/2020 20:37

"Mrs hinch (sic) is vulgar". "a follow-on book for Take a Break readers". "written with words suitable to the average primary school reading level". "A literary nadir...the bimbo look she espouses". "everything that is wrong with the UK" (WTAF?)

I've never been on Instagram, but I have read Mrs Hinch's book. She seems like a kind, funny, vulnerable person. I've also read Madame Bovary, Anna Karenina, Middlemarch, Portrait of a Lady and Infinite Jest and I enjoyed them too.

WBD is a pain the arse, and the class prejudice on here is an even bigger pain in the arse. Biscuit

HeavenlyEyes · 05/03/2020 20:38

The undisclosed swipe ups, the making a fortune out of dot to dot books and then cashing in on the mental health of vulnerable followers is something which doesn't sit right with me at all, I must admit.

ScarlettBlaize · 05/03/2020 20:47

You think that objecting to a fucking housewife/cleaner/instagram influencer being held up as a role model for young girls is 'class prejudice'?

What a disgusting idea of working-class womanhood you have.

everythingisginandroses · 05/03/2020 20:52

I grew up in a council house on benefits, went to a comprehensive and attended a Russell Group university. Thanks for telling me what I think about working class women, though, @ScarlettBlaize
