Kids dressing as Mrs Hinch for world book day

I really like Mrs Hinch, I love how she has built her brand, capitalised on it, I think she works very hard. I am not slating her at all , I think there is housework to be done, and she does it with humour and I'm pleased how well it's working for her.

But damn it's depressing seeing all the young girls surrounded by dusters and hoovers and cleaning products for World Book Day on her stories Sad

It's depressing that they aren't book characters. The point is to encourage kids to read, isn't it? Not fawn over some insta-celeb.

Thefaceofboe · 05/03/2020 12:38

@Shrekhasabogie 😂 I was thinking in terms of influencers!

GingerGingerGingerGinger · 05/03/2020 12:41

Has she written a children's book about cleaning then?

She has been caught out lying loads on tattle!

CodenameVillanelle · 05/03/2020 12:45

The vast majority of kids don't dress as actual book characters from books they have read and enjoyed. The hinch costumes are just a way for mums to performative parent. They do it all the time.

CodenameVillanelle · 05/03/2020 12:45

Tattle is OBSESSED with her. It's weird.

dayswithaY · 05/03/2020 12:48

How depressing. All the amazing talented authors in the world, with rich imaginations and they want to go as a Insta star? Do they know it's meant to be your favourite fiction piece? You might as well go as a Volkswagen Golf manual or a bottle of Zoflora.

RightOnTheEdge · 05/03/2020 12:49

I've seen a few "mini Hinchers" on Facebook and Instagram this morning all girls of course.
I thought it was a bit weird.

It's an easy costume though I guess.

Thisismytimetoshine · 05/03/2020 12:51

It’s supposed to be based on children’s books, isn’t it? Their favourite book; one they have actually read? It’s really sad that so many airheads miss the point so spectacularly.

bestbefore · 05/03/2020 12:52

It's just so weird - in no way is she related to world book day?! Confused - I know she has a book but it's not the same as bloody Mr Men or Roald Dahl etc is it?! Bizarre.

Notso · 05/03/2020 12:57

It's probably for the likes, it's a bit pathetic. Do the kids even know who she is.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 05/03/2020 13:00

Why would any child want to go as someone who spends all day, every day cleaning with products companies send her?? What child ever said... oh mummy I love Mrs Hinch- weird

Amanduh · 05/03/2020 13:32

It’s pathetic. It’s for the ‘hinchers’ who are instagram obsessed, 100 bottles of zoflora hoarding, diamante covered febreze weirdos like some sort of cult. Also, Mrs Hinch does not ‘work hard’ either 😂

Shandied · 05/03/2020 13:44

YANBU, it's grim and probably mostly for the 'gram. I don't get world book day as a whole though to be honest, when we did it at school we would bring in a book we no longer read (if we had any) which would be donated, and everyone got the £1 book token to exchange. We also would have a 'guest' speaker in the main hall who would read a book, usually someone like a firefighter or nurse, and it was really exciting. I am not sure how an outfit from the Asda or a onesie fosters a love for reading.

PotholeParadise · 05/03/2020 13:51

For the first time ever, in years of MNing, I'm proper judging a WBD costume. I have vociferously defended Ninja Mutant Turtles, Elsas, Batmen and so many more, but here. is. the. line.

Dressing up as a Flash-in-the-pan (see what I did there?) Instagram star for World Book Day? That's not okay.

Spend a bit less time cleaning the mirror and actually take a moment to look at yourself and your aspirations for your daughter.

Cam77 · 05/03/2020 13:52

Who the fuck is that?

outofyourhand · 05/03/2020 14:05

The only reason these idiots send their kids to school on WBD dressed as Mrs Hinch is because they know she reposts their tagged pictures on her Instagram stories.

It's for likes and because they want to blow smoke up her arse. Simple as.

BirthdayCakes · 05/03/2020 14:24

Hmmm - Kardashian or Hinch? Kardashian or Hinch?

LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters · 05/03/2020 14:27

Why are none of the lads dressed as Jamie in jeans with feet up.

Fluffybutter · 05/03/2020 14:28

I don’t object to it but it’s bloody sad .
I don’t know how these people become famous and why kids would want to dress up as her

Rosehip10 · 05/03/2020 14:29

Mrs hinch is vulgar.

glitterstarsshower · 05/03/2020 14:34

I know she technically has a book but it does miss the point of book day which is supposed to be about children reading.

I’m on a hinch cleaning fb group which can be handy for tips and hints but I really cannot understand the obsession and enthusiasm for cleaning products/equipment and cleaning everything. If it makes people then it’s no bad thing I just cannot relate at all.

ScarlettBlaize · 05/03/2020 14:38

Yanbu except for the bit where you think she's great and admire how she's "built her brand". Bleurgh

Imagine aspiring to that. Awful.

Theroigne · 05/03/2020 14:41

Wtf has a cleaning lady on Instagram got to do with books?!?!

I get the last minute rush, I was in that situation myself a few times but I damn well cobbled together something that didn’t make a complete pisstake out of World BOOK Day.
