I wish Ebay would add a category to report these arseholes.

If some twat wants to buy a 47p product for £19 then knock yourself out. Darwin's theory at play there.....

But seeing OAPs asking in shops for this knowing some utter low life has bought the entire delivery to sell on eBay gives me rage.

I bet Ebay love their cut. I would report it but theres no category.

Arseholes. Yes I am aware I need to get a life and go back to looking for a last minute fucking world book day costume in my dress up pile of doom, but this is why I hate humans and hope viruses kill our species off somedays

It doesn’t need to be anti bac soap. Any soap will do.

GingerBeverage · 04/03/2020 12:30

You can stop worrying about it now. Message from ebay:

Bacteria are not viruses. Viruses are not Bacteria. You cannot kill a virus because in many respects it is not alive in the first place.

For all the people who have no access to any water or anything all day long, what about Dry Shower gel?

@sleepingpup I’m actually being serious. But glad I made you laugh! 😉

I work in the community and often need to wash my hands with no access to a sink, I was making my suggestion based on fact that I use hand wipes and hand sanitiser and was thinking what I can do if I don’t have any hand sanitiser. Also a lot of public toilet don’t always have soap..

It’s also not much different from carrying baby wipes for nappy changes and hot water for formula feeds.

PointlessAddict · 04/03/2020 12:34

We know that handwashing with soap and water

The point is that to buy up all available supplies of something rather than just what you need (and maybe a bit extra) so no one else can get any makes you a bit of a cunt

Oscaree · 04/03/2020 12:37

Wash your hands. That's all you need to do. It's the best form of hand hygiene.

Robuns · 04/03/2020 12:37

@PurpleDaisies guessing you still need a sink and water for them though, I don't get why people who don't see the point of gel or want to use it feel the need to comment on those that do. Bars of soap are out of stock here, just the heavily scented beauty ones which is a no thanks.

steff13 · 04/03/2020 12:37

Isn't hand sanitizer basically just rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel? It seems like you could make your own relatively easily.

alittleprivacy · 04/03/2020 12:39

The effective stuff is. It's not that easy to buy surgical spirit/rubbing alcohol at the moment though because lots of people have copped onto that and bought it.

MasakaBuzz · 04/03/2020 12:41

Well my local Lidl has them 8n stock. They were restricting people to 4. I bought 2, and a panic purchase of one pack of paracetamol just to join in.

I am going to London a couple of times over the next few weeks, and the size is handy. I also have various half used bottles around the place, from previous trips.

I also discovered some unopened bottles of cuticura left over from last years cruise. Mind you they are only 58% alcohol, so I probably should be panicking.

However I have decided not to worry about Coronavirus. If it kyboshes my travel plans for this year I will not be impressed. Not to mention the fact that it is almost certain my knee op will end up even more delayed.

HowlsMovingBungalow

A word to the wise, washing your hands in tinned ravioli only makes them smell of sick, and go a funny colour.

Far better to get hold of a funky OAP's shopping trolley, load it with a well insulated container of hot water and a foot pump, tie on an economy size bottle of shower gel and a few towels then you have your own personal portable sanitation station conveniently to (gloved) hand at all times.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 04/03/2020 12:44

Excellent plan @viques! Reckon you could sell them on eBay for ££££!!

sportinguista · 04/03/2020 12:45

My DH works for Boots and a while back they used to get stuff from staff sales in bags that were just kind of pot luck, you'd get a bag of stuff and there'd be loads of random stuff in it. Some was really good, some just basic. Some of them had loads of big bottles of hand sanitizer in. I remember unpacking and thinking "How the hell am I going to use all this?". Little did I know a couple of years down the line my question would be answered...I now have loads of an in-demand product! Don't worry I will not be selling on Ebay or suchlike as I'm not that morally bankrupt.

As regards sanitizing I reckon you could get one of those little spray bottles (the ones for make-up/travel) and put a bit of surgical spirit/dettol in it and just give the hands a little spray and job done (we've done this to clean the suede sofa - it's really good for this too!). You could do it with Vodka at a push as a PP says but I guess if you're at work or are a taxi driver this might prove somewhat dodgy if you reek like a wino!

sportinguista · 04/03/2020 12:46

Love the plan viques it brings back memories of my DH selling beer from a wheelie bin full of ice at festivals. That entrepreneurial spirit!

Rubyupbeat · 04/03/2020 12:48

Definitely scumbags, but they are not doing anything illegal, sadly.

MrsLCohen · 04/03/2020 12:48

I think if it gets quite bad I will just wear a pair of pink or yellow marigolds as you can just wash them in the sink while they are still on your hands, no need for loads of overpriced hand gel then. Not sure how you report an eBay seller if they are breaking the rules

kateandme · 04/03/2020 12:49

sanitiser doesnt work.its covers it for the moment youput it on but does not wash it off.it simply axplodes the outer mebrane with the alcohol.you need to wash it off.

Yummymummy2020 · 04/03/2020 12:55

@alittleprivacy well said and I second every word!!! We are not all only concerned about ourselves with the extra hygiene it’s others too, and you are correct high alcohol gels do kill viruses, and so are useful if there is no soap or water nearby. A lot of people are incorrect in saying hand sanitiser is useless, indeed it is quite the opposite as WHO will tell you themselves on their site.

JRUIN · 04/03/2020 12:55

I bulk bought loads of hand sanitizer (was on special offer) pre the coronavirus outbreak, but rarely use it because I realised it's a rather pointless exercise when the bottle itself gets covered in bacteria Confused

NotYourHun · 04/03/2020 12:57

You’re aware that this is literally exactly how capitalism works at every level?

Sofonisba · 04/03/2020 12:58

Pisses me off that some supermarket or pharmacy can charge 47p for an item that gets made for 4p.

Seeing OAPs asking in shops, knowing these utter low-life companies have cornered the means of production to sell goods on at an inflated prices just for profit gives me rage.

I bet the CEOs love their cut.

Sofonisba · 04/03/2020 13:00

Every thread like this has the enlightened saying how washing hands with soap is better. Of course it is! But if you use public transport or something it's unlikely that your stop has a sink and supply of soap

But wherever you're going to presumably has toilets with a sink and soap?

heartsonacake · 04/03/2020 13:02

YABU. They’re not doing anything wrong; they’ve been very clever. Wish I’d have done it 😂

woodchuck99 · 04/03/2020 13:04

Yes, but people will almost inevitably touch their faces at some point on the journey so better to keep hands as clean as possible. Great if you never do but most people touch their faces without realising.
