I wish Ebay would add a category to report these arseholes.

If some twat wants to buy a 47p product for £19 then knock yourself out. Darwin's theory at play there.....

But seeing OAPs asking in shops for this knowing some utter low life has bought the entire delivery to sell on eBay gives me rage.

I bet Ebay love their cut. I would report it but theres no category.

Arseholes. Yes I am aware I need to get a life and go back to looking for a last minute fucking world book day costume in my dress up pile of doom, but this is why I hate humans and hope viruses kill our species off somedays

ebay has sent a message to ALL sellers that they will stop listings that obviously profiteer from Covid-19!

I haven't really been following this, but I wonder what they'll do about actual auctions rather than buy-it-now prices. And what do we think about the morality of an auction in which the price is driven up by buyers competing?

halfsoaked · 05/03/2020 00:56

Supply and demand, it's inevitable when most people have £££ in their eyes

BritWifeinUSA · 05/03/2020 01:08

Maybe the “old dears” (have you always been so patronizing to those who happen to have been born before you?) were wanting to buy them to sell them on eBay?

I imagine those who’ve lived through the war and other outbreaks of disease over the years are well aware that soap and water is the best way to wash hands anyway.

flirtygirl · 05/03/2020 01:38

For anyone needing/wanting hand gel superdrug has some on their website half price at 61p for click and collect. Some areas do have some.

strawberrylipgloss · 05/03/2020 07:55

It's only 62% Ethanol so not the 70% minimum considered to be effective

ssd · 05/03/2020 07:58

I agree with you op, people who do that are utter scum.

PointlessAddict · 05/03/2020 08:02

There was a professor from the London school of hygiene and tropical medicine on the radio on Monday and she said that alcohol in gels should be at least 62% so these are fine.

middleager · 05/03/2020 08:18

The BBC report just said 60% fine but I thought it was 70%

Hopefully, they will get that much for them and it will serve them right. If they think it's okay to clear the shelves and profiteer from this, I wouldn't trust them not to delete the gel with water or something anyway. The same applies to anyone selling for huge prices on Amazon or eBay.

woodchuck99 · 05/03/2020 09:15

Hopefully, they will get that much for them Hopefully, they won't get that much for them

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 05/03/2020 16:41

You're probably right

PowerToTheMeeple · 05/03/2020 21:28

@BombayTricycleClub The trust I work for is trying to order PPE, including small and big bottles of alco-gel, however it keeps being stolen and flogged on eBay.

I agree OP, people are fuckwits.

TheDogsMother · 05/03/2020 21:35

My local pharmacy was sold out but offered Hibiscrub as an alternative. Not quite as convenient as gel but ok to decant into a small bottle for handbag.

Chouxalacreme · 05/03/2020 22:10

There is loads in production and being flown over from India currently there won’t be a shortage . Well there isn’t a shortage of greedy people it seems anyway . Hang tight !

middleager · 05/03/2020 22:57

That's reassuring Choux
Hope those selling them for inflated prices are left with boxes and boxes!

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 06/03/2020 00:41

Aren't people awful?

HappydaysArehere · 07/03/2020 01:45

As said before washing hands is the best protection but gel also offers some protection for between washes. Heard a paediatric nurse on the radio who said the best protection was washing followed by gel.
As for those on the make when we are all in this together, well what goes around comes around. The miserable, nasty, evil b.......s

CatAndHisKit · 07/03/2020 01:55

woodchuck we were talking about ebay - ebay sent out message to sellers that they will stop such sales. Not sure howthey will deal with auctions, I think most ar sold on BIN for speed.
I think they need to only allow instant buys on these, with no more than 10 per cent profit.

dottiedodah · 08/03/2020 08:07

Good Housekeeping have a recipe for home made handwash Fill small bottle 1/3 to 1/4 with vodka .top up with aloe vera gel . A lot cheaper !
