Its definitely cheap as chips- from a south London perspective!

it does look very tiny, the clutter/furniture make it look like there's not much space to swing a cat! And the windows seem v small

A similar property down here would prob be £250-75k or more depending if it has own parking etc. Bonkers

Iggypoppie · 01/03/2020 08:43

I looks like a rental.

TV should be on wall. Get rid of large sofa and chair and put in l shaped sofa below window.

Bed needs cushions etc as looks very bland and uninviting.

All these will give potential buyers a nicer feeling about the place.

MarchDaffs · 01/03/2020 08:46

Is that a guest house or some kind of commercial property to the right of the flat OP? Just wondering because of the sign.

Lockheart · 01/03/2020 08:50

Good grief from some of the comments I was expecting a sea of rubbish in a dingy hellhole.

Yes it's small and needs a bit of TLC but blimey do some of you just like dripping venom for no reason.

TravellingSpoon · 01/03/2020 08:53

Its really small, and the pictures dont help, especially the one of the bedroom.

I hope you do find a buyer OP, but first if I were you I would declutter and get better photos.

hokolo · 01/03/2020 08:58

Sorry! I agree I was harsh! I do apologise.

I think it's the shock as ever on what houses cost down south - not even in London.

I live in a Victorian four bed flat five minutes from the station and good restaurants and park etc, in a lovely market town in Yorkshire. I rent but I happen to know the landlord paid less than 100,000 for it. And that's quite normal.

It just must be so hard to live down there! I get recruiters (I'm in tech) constantly going on about roles in London and yes the money is a bit better, but honestly, not THAT much better. If I can earn ten grand a year more but my house costs seven hundred grand more, I don't see how it's enough.

DimplesMcGee · 01/03/2020 09:00

That flat is where hope goes to die. Very depressing.

emilybrontescorsett · 01/03/2020 09:11

People are being realistic.
Where I live for £100,0000 I'd expect far more than that. There isn't anything nice about it apart from the overall look of the outside of the building.

DimplesMcGee · 01/03/2020 09:13

Sorry, that was harsh.

Just looking again and realised that the living room is mostly carpeted except for the square of the “kitchen”, yet the fridge is sitting on carpet. Not a lot she can do about that but it does seem very poorly planned.

I’m not sure I agree about flipping the sofa and TV - I wouldn’t want to look at the fridge all evening.

StealthMama · 01/03/2020 09:23

There's too much furniture in there, not enough separation from kitchen to loung, no where to sit and eat. I'd replace the furniture to make it more functional, stick the tv on the wall etc to create more space.

So no not right now.

daisypond · 01/03/2020 09:26

Part of the problem is that the kitchen area isn’t well designed, meaning there’s nowhere to put the fridge. There’s nowhere else it can go without a complete redesign.

Snuffkindle · 01/03/2020 09:29

The thing that would really put me off is the fridge freezer in the living room. It's such a shame they didn't build one in( along with a cover for the washing machine). I might be tempted to remove the fridge for the photos but I know that doesn't really help with viewings. Curtains would help with longer pole than window and whole window showing. And smaller sofa, and smaller or wall mounted TV. The cream chair should also definitely go.

Mimishimi · 01/03/2020 09:31

That's not a double bedroom!!

Hauskat · 01/03/2020 09:34

Wow I was thinking how nice it looks. And how very very very cheap. I live in London so I guess that explains it. And it’s in Devon? Wow. I need to re think my life!

Monty27 · 01/03/2020 09:39

Get the clutter out. It looks like hard work. The views outside?
Mates rates? Asking for a friend Smile

starfishmummy · 01/03/2020 09:48

OP you obviously know the flat well....is there a wardrobe or drawers to keep clothes in? I'm just being nosey but really cant see where they would go!!

HeartyGreenSalad · 01/03/2020 09:49

Is there parking with the flat ?
I would clear the entire place if possible

puds11 · 01/03/2020 09:51

Definitely empty, paint, make sure blinds are fully open.

starfishmummy · 01/03/2020 09:54

I looked on google maps...didnt take long to find it. Guess this would put people off

To ask you to buy this flat?
strawberry2017 · 01/03/2020 09:59

Empty, paint it so the interior isn't the same as the exterior. New pictures showing some different angles of the bedroom and bathroom.
Is there any built in storage other then in the kitchen? Show this if there is.
It looks like a shoe box but it will appeal to someone.
Make sure it's realistically priced.

DisorganisedPurpose · 01/03/2020 10:00

It is what it is and will sell if the price is right. If it has been sticking lower the price a bit. It is depressing how planners, architects etc who design these dwellings expect us to live in such small, impractical spaces. There seems very little room for living essentials like clothes and appliances. It would look much better with refitted kitchen area and completely redecorated.

GinUnicorn · 01/03/2020 10:00

If your friend really wants to sell the best thing to do is just drop the price, well priced places sell no matter how much love they need

GreenLeaf88 · 01/03/2020 10:03

It's a jail cell!!! My university dorm room was nicer than that. The couch is in the kitchen??? So weird

2020newme · 01/03/2020 10:05

The photos are bloody awful.

All that stuff on top of the fridge/freezer and scattered around the lounge! Get rid of the runner too.

Huge TV in bedroom needs to be removed for photos. Also, photo of outside should have no cars in view.

Good luck to "your friend" Grin

Runnerduck34 · 01/03/2020 10:12

Is this for selling it buying?
I love the outside of the building and ( with my S.E head ) it seems good value but without knowing area it's hard for me to say .

It is small and I don't think it's presented as it's best , lounge kitchen look small fridge freezer seems to encroach in lounge area, probably needs a smaller sofa and fridge with freezer drawer so everything is scaled to the small space. Is there a wardrobe/ chest of drawers in bedroom ? TV looks too close to bed. Windows also look a bit small and rooms boxish, could do with some pictures on the walls.
But my older DC ( late teens/ early twenties) would love to have their own place and if it meant they could get on property ladder they'd buy it .
