... he took each crate from the driver and proceeded to tip all the contents onto the kitchen floor!

Utter bell end

Why did he do it?

tiredanddangerous · 29/02/2020 11:31

Yes that would piss me off. Did he pick it all up and put it away?

pinkyredrose · 29/02/2020 11:32

Presumably he tidied it away after that?

Marlox · 29/02/2020 11:32

Thats what we do some times. Sometimes we put them in bags at the front door but often just put it straight on kitche floor or work tops.

There often feels like a pressure to unpack and i figure our kitchen floor is probably cleaner than what happens in the supermarket

Pipandmum · 29/02/2020 11:32

Ok only if he then picked it all up and put it away! Hope there weren't any bottles or eggs!

Curiosity101 · 29/02/2020 11:33

So long as nothing got damaged and the floor was relatively clean then I don't see the issue.

We normally take them through to the kitchen and empty them out onto the worktop though (lifting each item out 1 by 1, not dumping them out sandcastle style). Then we put everything away once we've returned all of the empty crates.

DimplesMcGee · 29/02/2020 11:38

We put it the crates on the breakfast bar and transfer the contents onto the kitchen table - I wouldn’t want them on the floor but we have pets, so...

drumandthebass · 29/02/2020 11:39

That's what I do. Put the contents on the floor and hand the crates back to the driver so he/she can get away ASAP

TweetUsOnFacebook · 29/02/2020 11:40

I'd be annoyed at that. I have bags ready by the door and decant everything straight into those.

Pilot12 · 29/02/2020 11:44

That's what I do, tip the crates on the carpet and hand them to the driver. Do you expect the driver to stand and wait while you put everything in the cupboards? My driver is usually in a hurry to get to the next delivery.

Squirrelblanket · 29/02/2020 11:45

That's what I do. As long as nothing was damaged I don't see the issue.

strawberrylipgloss · 29/02/2020 11:45

How clean do you think the supermarket, trucks and the crates are? How dirty is your floor?

Unless you mean he didn't put them away or he broke things when he tipped them on the floor yabu.

Perch · 29/02/2020 11:48

I do that. Unpack/tip crates on the floor/kitchen table so the driver can get away and I can unpack at leisure.
Do you unpack your entire shop while the driver is waiting for you????

RedskyAtnight · 29/02/2020 11:48

Another "that's what we do" too - we obviously isolate any breakable items first, but basically tip everything out onto the floor - it's the quickest way to do it and we don't have enough room on the kitchen surfaces to put everything on there.

ImportantWater · 29/02/2020 11:49

To be honest, I don’t care if the driver is in a hurry to get to the next delivery, part of the delivery timing should factor in unpacking especially now they don’t pack in bags. I unpack the crates onto the kitchen table, I’ve usually emptied one before he or she comes in with the next one. Surely if you tip the whole crate out things will break, eggs etc, apples will bruise.

Owngoal77 · 29/02/2020 11:49

Tipping (ie turning upside down) is unreasonable as stuff can break.
I've just first delivery coming today since the bag ban. Can I expect them to wait slightly longer while I take the crates into my kitchen and quickly lift the stuff out? Rather than lifting it all out on the doorstep and then having to relift and carry into kitchen?
I wish they would just leave you the crates and you could return them at next delivery.

ImportantWater · 29/02/2020 11:50

Owngoal, that is what I do. And my dad was a delivery driver so I know it is quite normal to do that.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 29/02/2020 11:50

We stack ours up in the hall for speed, then put away after. If your DH tipped it on the floor and left you to put it away I wouldn't speak to him for a week. Or cook his dinner.

Gruffalosandbuffalos · 29/02/2020 11:52

I empty mine out on to the kitchen table and work surfaces. I don’t tip though as things will break and get squashed, just quickly grab them out.

Lllot5 · 29/02/2020 11:52

My driver brings in it the kitchen helps me unload it into worktops/ table. Sign his thingy and away he goes.

MinesaPinotPlease · 29/02/2020 11:53

In the great scheme of things I would let it go.

theemmadilemma · 29/02/2020 11:54

I'd hate it if they left the crates, I don't have room to store them either.

I have a line of open reusable bags at the door and they help me unpack the crates into them and I can then take them through and unpack. It's fast which is helpful for them as no, they didn't get more time for delivery when the bags stopped, and it's fast and easy for me.

PotteringAlong · 29/02/2020 11:56

What’s the issue?

adaline · 29/02/2020 11:56

Why is it a problem? Confused

vikkimoog · 29/02/2020 11:59

I tip mine on the floor too. The drivers are under immense time pressures and I've never had anything break yet.
Is your floor very very dirty?
