... he took each crate from the driver and proceeded to tip all the contents onto the kitchen floor!

Utter bell end

We use those big ikea sacks. Load them at front door then drag them through to kitchen to unload. Although we have tiled level floors that allow this.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 01/03/2020 18:49

They'll bring them through the house for you? Wouldn't that be a struggle to get the crates through doorways, I know they'd have to rotate it sideways but that would knack my back and I'd feel guilty expecting the delivery driver to either, plus trip hazards like cats and toddlers don't help.

I just unpack into two laundry baskets/ikea bags, it's a fuck on but I always assume the driver is in a hurry to keep to schedule. Maybe I'm doing it wrong!?

CrisPbacon · 01/03/2020 19:36

If its not your nornal practice, Id be fuming. My delivery arrived before me yesterday, driver was running early. DH gave him some cake! (He thought the driver would want to wait for me 🤣 )
The driver left a couple of the plastic things as my freezers are in a barn and between them they decided to pile stuff in kitchen.
I'd be mad at your DH as although it maybe a moment of panic from him, tipping it on the floor shows lack of respect for the stuff and you tbh

MamaFlintstone · 01/03/2020 19:38

This is what I do. I really don’t see the issue.

TreeTopTim · 01/03/2020 19:43

I dont see the problem is. I will empty (not tip) the crates onto the floor mainly because I don't have enough worktop space.

saveforthat · 01/03/2020 19:45

My driver always takes to the kitchen and helps unpack there. To me one of the luxuries of a delivery is not to have to haul the heavy bags in.

Ponoka7 · 01/03/2020 19:56

*My friend is a delivery driver and says that tipping it on the hall floor is absolutely typical of how unsupervised males receive the shopping!"

That's what me and my Adult DD does. I've always been bagless.

AlexaAmbidextra · 01/03/2020 19:59

I don’t like them coming in

Why? What do you they’re going to do?

Elbbob · 01/03/2020 20:08

The floor is ok, the tipping is not! Takes just a few seconds more to lift stuff out and put on floor/counter.

lynney88 · 01/03/2020 23:41

Mine does this. He says "well the drivers don't have all day".

He has a point but it plays havoc with me and my system.

FourDecades · 05/03/2020 19:19

I put a chair in the kitchen and the delivery man puts the crates on the chair. I then unload onto the work top

YouTheCat · 05/03/2020 19:57

I can't get the crates through to the kitchen because my old, stupid, indoor cat would escape so I very quickly bag everything at the doorstep. The drivers have told me this is what they prefer.

YakkityYakYakYak · 05/03/2020 20:12

LTB. Definitely. Grin

Nomel · 05/03/2020 20:21

Great exercise! You would think he emptied the bags themselves onto the floor. Relax maybe?

Merryoldgoat · 05/03/2020 20:27

I do this.

ScarlettBlaize · 05/03/2020 20:45

he took each crate from the driver and proceeded to tip all the contents

I don't think your DH has done anything wrong, but I HATE people who can't write a post without saying

"he then proceeded to..."

No. He didn't 'proceed to tip the contents out'. He 'tipped the contents out'.

It doesn't make it sound clever, or funny, or witty, or like a brilliant blog post. It was a tired old cliche in 2006.
