Northern Ireland case is via Italy...

ifonly4 · 27/02/2020 19:26

RocketFire Cheltenham Gold Cup and Aintree are before the Marathon.

The first is in two weeks time, employs 6000 staff, up to 85,000 use the shuttle buses each day to access the town (some come with partners and go shopping!) and racecourse. It's over four days and others attend on foot, car, helicopter.

DressingGownofDoom · 27/02/2020 19:27

Fuck. Fuck. I'm in NI. I need to start prepping PDQ before it becomes plain old panic buying

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 19:31

@MrsStrangerThing I'm dyeing my teenage sons hair so I dropped the ball 😁

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2020 19:32

Cheltenham are insisting it will still go ahead.

5 more cases in Sweden too.

I suspect we will have a few more in the UK tomorrow...

MrsStrangerThing · 27/02/2020 19:34

Hahaha Warren, what colour? Is he pleased with it?

Thisisworsethananticpated · 27/02/2020 19:35

NettleTea

Hon get her tested , that’s all you can do

MrsStrangerThing · 27/02/2020 19:36

Dressing gown, I wonder if they will give an idea of where the person lives? Would be interesting to know. The other UK cases mostly had a more specific location did they not?

Was only a matter of time really, wasn't it. I work in the Royal so will be interested to see what information and advice we get over the next few days. It hasn't been very forthcoming thus far!

MyPartInHistory · 27/02/2020 19:37

OK, so I'm a prepper - I've looked at the evidence and believe that, at some stage in the not so distant future, there is a possibility that my family will be in lock down. We have a few medical issues within the family and I don't know how they will pan out if the worst happens.

However, until the worst happens, we need to lighten up a bit.

I just read that the NI case travelled home from Northern Ireland via Dublin.

MyPartInHistory · 27/02/2020 19:40

At least the USA is in safe hands -

Taytocrisps · 27/02/2020 19:41

Sorry, that should read travelled home from Northern Italy via Dublin.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 27/02/2020 19:43

They've still not said where the second new case today is located, have they?

I wonder if it was London and they fear mass panic if they release this. I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist though.

NcFortuna · 27/02/2020 19:43

This ‘Deep Clean’ business. I do wonder how thorough it is in this country. Is it a quick swiff round with a damp cloth by a private cleaning contractor paying minimum wage? It is so easy to conjur up misleading images with clever phrases. Like ‘Smart Motorways’ when we know they are unsafe death traps.

It is so easy to say such and such is shut for a ‘deep clean’ and everyone assumes it is being done properly with the efficiency seen in China and Korea. I doubt it somehow.

Taytocrisps · 27/02/2020 19:46

There's speculation here (ROI) about whether St. Patrick's Festival will be cancelled. St. Patrick's Day falls on the 17th March. We get visitors from all over the world flying in for it.

MyPartInHistory · 27/02/2020 19:48

This really made me laugh out loud

twitter.com/i/status/1232865782704398336

MrsStrangerThing · 27/02/2020 19:50

Tayto there's a fair chance that is correct, when we fly to Italy we always go via Dublin because I refuse to fly with Ryan Air which is the only option from Belfast, for where we fly to anyway!

what do you think, should it be cancelled? Its a tough one, it won't exactly help morale to cancel. But restricting international travel and avoiding large congregations of people seems sensible Sad

FourTeaFallOut · 27/02/2020 19:51

A proper deep clean of schools must require an army of cleaners. They're just so big and so many chairs and tables, books, equipment, toilets, doors, walls... yeah, it's just a billy bullshit gesture to pacif

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 19:51

Spain reports 6 new cases of coronavirus in Valencia, raising the number of new cases in Spain today to 12 t.co/eUoE2b20hL

FourTeaFallOut · 27/02/2020 19:52

..y the parents. (Not sure what happened there).

MrsStrangerThing · 27/02/2020 19:53

Four, our school closed for a long weekend recently after more than half the kids got a horrible stomach bug at the same time. They claimed they scrubbed every surface, including every pencil etc, took them three days.

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 19:54

@MrsStrangerThing it's jet black. He's 17 and a bit of a rocker. I've stained all his neck and ears 🙈

Choux · 27/02/2020 19:56

@webuiltthiscity am convinced that the second case has been in canary wharf. Probably commuting across London to get there.

Why else would Crossrail send staff home because of a suspected case in a neighbouring company (Chevron)?

I bet it looks fab!! Very cool. Have you tried baby wipes or nail polish remover?
