Department of health will have to say something soon. It's all over the newspapers. It's in the telegraph, the mail on the BBC and the local radio stations

To be worried about Coronavirus part 5
RedToothBrush · 27/02/2020 09:08

Passed on from Italy and Tenerife...

Tenerife.

teta · 27/02/2020 09:08

I'm starting to find some of these posts very distasteful. The criticism of the Tindall's ,anyone who's visited Italy etc. It's all Chinese whispers and playground gossip. Following on from the vilifying of anyone Chinese. The government advice is very mixed message. Without closing school, stopping flights, closing businesses covid 19 going to spread everywhere. I think we're just going to have to accept it.

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 09:09

Where is the other case?? I know one is Buxton obviously but where is the other? I'm fucking frantic. Just dropped my immune suppressed son at school and I've no idea whether it's in my town.

Notstrongandstable · 27/02/2020 09:09

Ofwarren- any more info on the Geneva case...I'm flying there on Saturday 😬

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2020 09:09

Checks time

Published at five min past 9am...

YoursTunbridgeWells · 27/02/2020 09:10

@ofwarren clearly nobody in until 9am to send the tweet. Ridiculous and dare I say it almost disingenuous behaviour from our so called leaders.

They need to held to account. We need a daily briefings with CV advice - Pref: AM, lunchtime and evening with either BoJo or health minister standing up and delivering the news. This is akin to being at war now. Thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of lives are at stake, the economcy and the whole future of the nation.

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 09:10

Surely they have to add advice about travel to Tenerife now?

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2020 09:10

Geneva case is man in his twenties who had just returned from Italy.

cheninblanc · 27/02/2020 09:10

Oh dear, I thought we were getting away with it given it had been so quiet for a few weeks. I wander what will happen re the school being closed as children aren't the cleanest of us!! I imagine this means the people stuck in tenerife now face a quarantine of longer and back here.

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 09:11

I'll check when I'm home not strong

Goingunderground2 · 27/02/2020 09:11

Two more coronavirus cases confirmed in UK www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51656609

ACautionaryTale · 27/02/2020 09:12

Surely the least economically devastating course of action is to just let it sweep the population.

Its the long term economic fall out that will cause more problems than the relatively small number of deaths that will ensue.

fannyanney · 27/02/2020 09:12

So... is Tenerife the test case for what happens if the virus is left to run its course amongst people? Is this what they'll potentially base future containment advice on?

HasaDigaEebowai · 27/02/2020 09:13

ofwarren if you're worried why not keep him off for a couple of days. Its almost the weekend and unless he's in Year 11 and has GCSEs I would in your position.

NatyoCheese · 27/02/2020 09:13

Did they say royal Liverpool and royal free hospital?

Poppytime · 27/02/2020 09:14

Yes I believe so @NatyoCheese

HasaDigaEebowai · 27/02/2020 09:15

Royal Liverpool and Royal Free London

Poppytime · 27/02/2020 09:16

As nhs told us they had to 'assume we are fine' we have sent DD to school today (despite having been in Lombardy and symptoms)...I don't have anything to back up keeping her at home but it doesn't feel right...

ofwarren · 27/02/2020 09:17

My husband has gone to get him. He's more persuasive than me. I'm a wreck.

Glittercandle · 27/02/2020 09:17

I wonder if the person who has it after being in Tenerife stayed at the quarantined hotel.

HasaDigaEebowai · 27/02/2020 09:17

I think you should keep her off Poppy. She has symptoms, she's been in the area and she hasn't been tested and cleared. I'd be getting her back home and calling 111 again.
