That Alexa one where the mother lets her teenage daughter repeatedly thump a football against the wall, lit by the thousand suns of her security lamps at 04.40 in the dead of night.

The neighbours must be getting up a petition.

I don't think I am being unreasonable. Which adverts grind your gears?

Any go compare advert with the opera singer

Synecdoche · 25/02/2020 23:26

Contrary to popular opinion I love the Seal of Approval and Voxi ads. Also I like the Royal Air force one - "extra protection, now with wings!".

Can't stand the Nutella one where the woman's family think it's okay to basically ignore her because they leave a 'world's best mum' note or similar.

BitOfFun · 25/02/2020 23:28

Oh gosh, that Cancer Doesn't Care one. Like freaking people out helps.

Synecdoche · 25/02/2020 23:30

Oh and I HATE the one where they're all hugging blow up paddy mcguinness' or some such nonsense. Particularly the patronising pat on the head he gives to the woman at the eve. Enrages me every time.

Also love the Lloyd's bank one with the mare and her foal rejoining the herd. Makes me tear up a little tbh!

secretllama · 25/02/2020 23:35

Speaking of cancer ads.... those older race for life ones where it was people talking to cancer as if it was a person e.g were coming to get you cancer , eat my dust cancer.... it just made me cringe so much!!

PenguinsOnParade · 25/02/2020 23:36

Also love the Lloyd's bank one with the mare and her foal rejoining the herd.

Our family love this one too but because we once had the subtitles turned on and just before the louder last line of the song is sung the subtitle says (EPIC) before it which for some reason just really tickled us, so we just shout "epic" every time we see the ad now. Blush

Synecdoche · 25/02/2020 23:38

EPIC Grin

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 25/02/2020 23:38

I hate the charity ones for Water Aid and Action Aid and Animal Aid andVision Aid and Hearing Aid (OK I might have made that last one up) that go on for ever with pictures of emaciated black kids and sad eyed dogs. I get that they're for a good cause but do they have to play them on a never ending loop?

lorettalemon · 25/02/2020 23:48

The "did anybody say just eaaaaaatttt" makes me want to throw something at the telly. The "decorative" tena pants one - they don't look nice, they just look like standard tena pants with a pattern on.

Tunnocksmallow · 26/02/2020 00:01

The bastard sun life equityrelese adverts with Carol bloodyVorderman. One of them she’s pretending to be Lorraine jelly, and in another she’s wielding a bloody chainsaw. Hideous adverts.

MaryBear · 26/02/2020 00:35

The Wayfair ones with Lorraine Kelly give me the rage. Sod off love, you prancing around doesn't make me want to buy that overpriced shite. Also the charity one with the photographer saying he'd never seen such atrocities so please cough up. I bet he got paid for that advert though, bloody hypocrite.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 26/02/2020 01:17

The Wayfar ones make me laugh because she compliments her house and scrolls through all the things that she’s purchased from Wayfair on a tablet and then turns around and asks her “But what if I want my house to look fancy”? Cheeky sod! It’s a bitchy comment that’s up there with that Glinda from Wizard of Oz asking Dorothy if she’s a good witch or a bad witch and seconds later tells her that only bad witches are ugly!

tobee · 26/02/2020 01:59

Actually quite a lot of m, if not all people/actors fronting charities don't get paid.

PhilCornwall1 · 26/02/2020 05:39

The Zoopla ones. "We know what a home is really worth".

You sodding don't. The price of ours on there is well wrong! Tossers!!!

PhilCornwall1 · 26/02/2020 05:40

Oh and the dodgy Calgon adverts with the dodgy English voice overs!!! Grrrrr!!!!

BasiliskStare · 26/02/2020 05:52

@SidneyPrescott & @ PrincessHoneysuckle - I have to agree with those Voxi adverts - just weird and disturbing - I have no idea what they are selling - assume some phone thing - but once I find out I shall make it my business not to buy it.

All of this is just making me nostalgic for the days of Martine McCutcheon and Activia yoghurts.

HAhelp101 · 26/02/2020 08:02

Any advert too be honest. They aren't clever any more. Most people understand how adverts work. They might as well just put up a screen and say this is x product. It's costs this much. It does this. If you want it 'buy here'. Quicker, easier and they advertise and we don't have to sit through the sillys

Outfoxed · 26/02/2020 08:15

There are these milk adverts here in Sweden at the moment which I guess are trying to mock soy/oat/etc milk varieties.
They're all the same but in different situations- someone wants milk, gets told they only have molk/bilk/milp, they ask if it taste the same as milk, and the person just laughs at them. Then the mink gets booted across the screen by real milk and it screams "MILK IS MILK!"

It's so unnecessarily agro it drives me up the wall.

OneStepOneStumble · 26/02/2020 08:21

That one for Dreamies treats where the old guy is like "I lied and told her I had a cat so she'd go out with me and used dreamies to tempt some to my house so she wouldn't be suspicious" then he does the suggestive eyebrow thing. Yeah cos coercing woman for dates and sex is really great! It makes me so mad that this was allowed on tv.

TakeYourCanvasBags · 26/02/2020 08:40

I'm not even sure what the advert is for - some tech company - where the little girl is walking to school giving a monologue about the good and bad sides of technology ("it was the best of times, it was the worst of times"), she gets to school and all her classmates are doing exciting, creative things. DH and I always shout at the TV that all that technology can't get her to school on time. Invest in an alarm clock, love!

I'm just delighted that christmas is over and we don't have to suffer the Pandora advert with the creepy dad interrupting her daughter wit jewellery while she's trying to work, any more.

sueelleker · 26/02/2020 08:43

Also love the Lloyd's bank one with the mare and her foal rejoining the herd.
I love the previous Lloyds advert, where everyone gets up at dawn to watch the horses coming along the beach. That's something I'd definitely do!

Mockersisrightasusual · 26/02/2020 08:59

Freaked out by the creepy singing baby: "Take a look at my face! I am the future!"

Put a pillow over it now.

Teddy1970 · 26/02/2020 09:15
