The number of cases in the Tenerife hotel is now 4. I've got a really bad feeling about this.

Mainstream media running the Paris death story. I'm basically getting the info half an hour earlier. Its because it's coming from local french news reports.

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/02/2020 09:57

Tellurian I would suggest you start your own thread on conspiracy theories or else tootle off elsewhere entirely.

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/02/2020 09:59

Ive reported your post

FlyingNorth · 26/02/2020 10:00

So have I.

MarmiteRocks · 26/02/2020 10:00

Place marking here

lucy101 · 26/02/2020 10:08

Why has the post been reported? Tellurian has an opinion which you may or may not agree with but why shouldn't it be read and considered like any other?

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/02/2020 10:10

Because Tellurian is recommending people take dangerous steps to deliberately create an artificial temperature. There are vulnerable people frequenting these threads who might actually listen to her stupid pseudo science.

FlyingNorth · 26/02/2020 10:14

Exactly Hasa. Many of the people on these threads are very worried and are concerned the public authorities are not doing enough to assist. The last thing they need is suggestions of positively dangerous methods of "self help". We'll leave aside the (bonkers) conspiracy theories.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/02/2020 10:14

Because it’s dangerous bollocks and somebody else might be as daft as tellurian and decide to take her advice.

WaterSheep · 26/02/2020 10:18

raising total to 139 cases and 19 deaths

Surely they can't think people are believing their bullshit.

South Korea have 1,261 cases and 12 deaths.

Iran has a serious problem.

Orchidflower1 · 26/02/2020 10:20

I’ve reported tellurian too. Crazy conspiring I can cope with. Dangerous pseudo medical advice I can not!

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 10:20

I know. Sounds like half the government have the virus in Iran.. the tweets coming out from Joe public make for a worrying read. I haven't shared any because obviously I can't verify

Lweji · 26/02/2020 10:21

They probably mean cases in hospital.

aintnothinbutagstring · 26/02/2020 10:22

www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2020-02-20/fecal-transmission-may-be-behind-coronavirus-s-rapid-spread?__twitter_impression=true

Not sure if already shared. Apparently spreading more like a gastro bug (and we all know those can spread like wildfire). So employ good handwashing in public places/toilets. Might be worth holding your own handwash, anti bac wipes for toilet seats, handgel after touching doors/surfaces. Seems extreme (I'm usually quite lax with hand hygiene except after using the toilet, but not concerned by public doors/handles), however may be more effective than wearing a mask.

Givemeabreakpls · 26/02/2020 10:22

Matt Hancock is due to make a statement on CV at 12.30. Wonder what that will be?

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 10:25

Oh dear... I always worry when there is a statement. What channel?

MissPoldark · 26/02/2020 10:29

I just worry that I’m not doing enough to protect my family. The thought of putting my son at risk destroys me.

lemonjumper · 26/02/2020 10:30

Where is he making the statement? Is it just to update MPs in the Commons?

FelicityFebruary · 26/02/2020 10:32

I'm not sure if it was noted here yesterday but it was reported yesterday ( I saw it in Time) that the woman from the Westerdam cruise ship who had tested positive was not carrying the virus after all. It is described as a false positive and Westerdam passengers are deemed a low risk. First false positive I have heard of.

FelicityFebruary · 26/02/2020 10:34

aintnothing

Very important to bear in mind.

Papyrus · 26/02/2020 10:35

These drive in tests are all very well, but what happens if you don’t drive? You could get a lift, taxi or public transport, but that would risk exposing other people.

middleager · 26/02/2020 10:36

This is alarming. The Prime Minister has disappeared

This!

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/02/2020 10:37

Re Matt Hancock - Its just a commons statement not an emergency statement.
