idontusuallypanic · 24/02/2020 12:40

I looked and couldn't see another 4th thread.

BREAKING: #KUWAIT- 2 confirmed cases coming from #Iran were confirmed as #Coronavirus, bringing the number of cases in Kuwait to 11

wherearemychickens · 25/02/2020 23:20

Thanks for posting that Buttermilk - an interesting (scary) read

Possible first case in South America. I will keep an eye on this one.

RedToothBrush · 25/02/2020 23:36

That article is more or less where I see things.

The economic and supply ripples are as scary as the disease itself.

ofwarren · 25/02/2020 23:39

The Brazil case is true

ofwarren · 25/02/2020 23:41

URGENTE: Primeiro caso de Coronavírus no Brasil envolve brasileiro que veio da Itália. O primeiro teste deu positivo, falta o segundo para confirmar.

From Italy again!

LarkDescending · 25/02/2020 23:42

So the Brazil case travelled from northern Italy to Brazil on 21 Feb, is that right?

InTheWalls · 25/02/2020 23:42

Been on this thread and the preppers thread on a couple of different names but think it's time for me to bow out. They've gone from helping me feel more prepared to increasingly anxious with the constant 'breaking' news and hashtags posts on both threads.
Appreciate that other people find them helpful, so will take my leave!
Planning on getting some last bits in after work tomorrow and then I think it will be the case of riding it out and hoping we're all ok. Good luck all!

Helenpretzel · 25/02/2020 23:44

Perhaps if someone tells Boris that coronavirus is likely able to survive at low temperatures he will hide in an oven instead.........

HisValentine · 25/02/2020 23:45

We have paid a deposit on a holiday to the U.S.A for next year. Currently we can't book travel insurance until a year before our return date - not for another 7 months!
So far we've paid £400 of £7000! I don't know what to do. It's such a long way off, but the economic fall out is what is worrying me.

Any advice please?

FelicityFebruary · 25/02/2020 23:49

Good luck to you and yours InTheWalls.

ofwarren · 25/02/2020 23:52

It's hard not to include all the hashtags and extras cos I'm literally cutting and pasting.
The news is moving so fast and it would take forever to amend all the posts.
Ill happily stop the updates if it's pissing people off. I just find it useful to track where the virus is going as I will know when to bail and pull my kids from school.

ofwarren · 25/02/2020 23:53

4 Italians test positive for #Coronavirus in #Spain, #Tenerife

ofwarren · 25/02/2020 23:55

@LarkDescending
The patient is a 61-year-old man in São Paulo. He was in northern Italy from February 9 until February 21.

HairyFloppins · 25/02/2020 23:55

Blimey it is spreading like wildfire from Italy, it must have been there for weeks. Too late now to contain.

Catmaiden · 25/02/2020 23:55

I'm finding the updates helpful, if thats the right word!

HeIenaDove · 25/02/2020 23:56

You probably wont be moaned at for copying and pasting though cos your user name aint HelenaDove!

CoCoPops55 · 25/02/2020 23:58

I'm finding the updates useful too Smile

KoalasandRabbit · 25/02/2020 23:59

I find the updates useful though can understand if your anxious could increase it so better to take a break if you feel yourself getting more anxious. I'm watching it for our holiday and as I'm interested in world news.

ajandjjmum · 26/02/2020 00:00

When do you have to pay the balance HisValentine? I wouldn't spend time worrying about it until then.

Notthebloodygym · 26/02/2020 00:03

Individual risk of contracting the virus is still very, very low, even if you are in the vicinity of a carrier/infected person. I

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 00:04

I will carry on posting on here and will attempt to remove any "breaking" or "urgent" type headline.
I'm not taking all the hashtags away though because that's a chore.
I've asked on the preppers board if they would prefer me to stop their updates too.

LightofMine · 26/02/2020 00:07

I appreciate your updates @ofwarren. I haven't posted before but long time 'lurker' and have really found this thread and others useful for information and reassurance.

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 00:14

It's hard to get any news out of Iran but a few of their journalists are posting things like this:

Big News if true! Former Mayor of #Tehran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf's initial testing for #coronavirus has come back positive. Ghalibaf has been on track to become #Iran's next speaker of parliament. He reportedly met Supreme Leader Ali #Khamenei a few days ago.

Like I said, it's hard to get news from there but the health minister MUST have spread the virus around. He was sweating profusely and coughing in that video.
