Tyson Fury's sons' names

lynsey91 · 21/02/2020 17:47

I have vaguely heard of Tyson Fury but today I read an article about him in The Mail (I know!). He has 5 children and 3 are boys all named Prince!

I mean how can they all have the same name? I assume they have nicknames at home but even so what is the point of naming them all the same. It's just totally weird and really seems rather stupid

To be fair, given the state of our 2 local schools, I’d have also removed DS at 11 and homeschooled him if he hadn’t got a place at the local grammar school 🙈 although I suppose they’d go to the Catholic high school in Lancaster?

Yep, I went to the hell hole known as Morecambe High - it ruined my education and left me with a lifetime of social/MH issues. There's no way I'd send my son to there. My OH went to Heysham High and suffered the same. There's a reason they're both under-subscribed and most kids get the buses to Lancaster, Carnforth or Dallam! There are 8 buses or more going up the A6 across the county border to Dallam school - to avoid the "locals" with parents who don't value education.

LoonyLunaLoo · 23/02/2020 11:10

I was only unlucky enough to go to Morecambe High for my A levels and did really badly having done excellently in my GCSEs. I’m certain it’s even worse now especially the bullying. They can make the schools academies and change the names all they like but they never get any better!

Tyson has serious mental health and addiction problems , he addresses this in his documentary, my sister was not recognisable in the height of her previous mental health and full addiction episode , she said and did the most horrendous things to herself and family , now she's 5 years into recovery with the help of NA and the nhs mental health team , she has evolved in her recovery to be an amazing person , a motivational speaker , professional career woman and an inspiration to myself , her children and her community, I am so grateful she survived those horrendous times and she is now who she had the potential to be . I applaud anyone who tackles their demands . Tyson is the heavy weight champion of the world , a family man and helps his local community now he's in recovery , I look forward to watching him evolve even further in his life .

He licked blood off a man’s neck.... Hmm

user1497207191 · 23/02/2020 11:47

I was a straight A* pupil at primary. Went downhill at Morecambe High due to bullying, physical abuse, theft, assault, etc (all reported to and ignored by the crap teachers who didn't give a toss), and ended up leaving after 5 years without a single GCSE. After I left, I taught myself, got a few A levels, got a trainee accountant job, and eventually became a chartered accountant. Schools are supposed to give you an education - not 5 years of hell culminating in suicide attempts and lifetime MH problems. I'd cheer if the place got burned down!

... a sexist, a homophobe, an anti-semite...

ScarlettBlaize · 23/02/2020 13:25

As a Jewish woman I find it really depressing how many people think this
homophobic antisemite is a 'great guy'

EmeraldShamrock · 23/02/2020 13:32

As others have said, he has said awful things, he grew up with hard men anyone different is slaughtered within their own community and the outsiders. His words are learnt words and behaviour from generations before him.
He is willing to break the tradition of hard men don't cry they attack.
He is going to do great things, his book is a great help to suffers.
Congratulations to him on his journey return and win..

ScarlettBlaize · 23/02/2020 14:28

You're ok with him promoting racism, sexism and homophobia then @EmeraldShamrock ?

ssd · 23/02/2020 15:20

He's not promoting anything, he's offering his opinion, which isn't my opinion, but I'd defend his right to his opinion same as anyone else.

His discussions about mental health I do like.

EmeraldShamrock · 23/02/2020 15:33

@ScarlettBlaize No I don't agree with the views he shared. I know his views were influenced by his upbringing as are most people with extreme racism, sexism and homophobic views.
What matters is you learn listen and change your views. His team club is very diverse.

ScarlettBlaize · 23/02/2020 16:19

He's never indicated any change in his views. I expect Nick Griffin was influenced by his upbringing too, does that excuse him in your opinion?

@ssd you think it's important to defend the right of a rich, famous, violent white man to attack Jews and homosexuals? Why?

Holyfork · 23/02/2020 16:19

Lots of people 'grew up with hard men' but they don't go around claiming that a woman's place is in the kitchen and on her back, comparing gay people to paedophiles and ranting about Jewish people owning all the banks and brainwashing everyone.

EmeraldShamrock · 23/02/2020 16:31

Lots of people 'grew up with hard men' but they don't go around claiming that a woman's place is in the kitchen and on her back, comparing gay people to paedophiles Oh I know but those raised in a homophobic way do. Travellers, Russian men, Muslim men view gay people this way, NAM but the majority, their family is banished if gay. I don't agree with it. I think it is backwards thinking but we can't deny it exists deeply in their roots. My friend from Poland who I thought was open minded, said there is No gay men in Poland. Shock how naive.

KatherineJaneway · 23/02/2020 16:35

Prince is a great name.

Holyfork · 23/02/2020 16:35

That doesn't excuse it, especially since he waints himself as a role model.

EmeraldShamrock · 23/02/2020 16:45

It is not an excuse. My thinking is when a person knows better and they do better, then some forgiveness or understanding is due. I think he learnt his views were wrong.
he has apologised for his words many times.

ScarlettBlaize · 23/02/2020 16:46

@EmeraldShamrock

he has apologised for his words many times.

No he hasn't.

suzy2b · 23/02/2020 17:46

I think you will find it's not only his views but the views of all travellers, not only in this country but every where if you are gay you will be disowned

Holyfork · 23/02/2020 18:24

All of them? Even the gay ones?

Saucery · 23/02/2020 18:27

Manchester dignitaries considering whether his homophobic and misogynistic views mean he will not get an official parade in the city. Good on them.
It was chilling to see a young girl at his old gym praising him, considering what he thinks of her future prospects Sad

Pisspoorspeller · 23/02/2020 18:44

For those asking, apparently he's a king so hence the boys are all called prince. But they all get known by there middle names. Twas on the documenty and everything.

justcleanyourbloodyteeth · 23/02/2020 20:04

Can someone please post a link to show where he has renounced his homophobic sexist and antisemetic views?
Oh but he comes across as a nice charming guy in his documentary so that's ok then, all is forgiven.

FFS.

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 23/02/2020 20:19

I personally think he comes across as a thoroughly good bloke. Who cares what his kids are called. He has a very strong faith and is trying to bring attention to mental health issues and overcoming them. Absolutely worse things he might have done than name his sons the same name! Their traveller roots will be the reason for the children having a shortened education. However I would imagine he is forward thinking enough to allow them a choice to a degree. The cultural differences are vast
