Tyson Fury's sons' names

lynsey91 · 21/02/2020 17:47

I have vaguely heard of Tyson Fury but today I read an article about him in The Mail (I know!). He has 5 children and 3 are boys all named Prince!

I mean how can they all have the same name? I assume they have nicknames at home but even so what is the point of naming them all the same. It's just totally weird and really seems rather stupid

He's made multiple homophobic and antisemitic comments. I hate how he's being turned into a 'character'.

ScarlettBlaize · 22/02/2020 02:10

Hadn't rtft so I'm glad to see others have already made this point eg @CommunistLegoBloc

sashh · 22/02/2020 02:21

emilyldn You rebel.

OP Aren't Micheal Jackson's sons both called Prince? Or is it Prince Michael?

crustycrab · 22/02/2020 09:48

Communist you clearly aren't following. Or more likely just twisting words on purpose.

I didn't say that your views mean you read the daily mail but if it suits you to say I did then crack on 🙄

lynsey91 · 22/02/2020 09:51

Well I didn't really know who he was only that he was a boxer. Having read this thread he sounds a horrible person.

I'll stick with thinking his sons' names are stupid.

I watched their programme the other night and Tyson was trying to book something over the phone the operater was confused by Prince × 3 so advised they bugger off booked online Grin I love the Fury's Paris is a women I wouldn't mess with !

Holyfork · 22/02/2020 12:01

He's a sexist, homophobic anti-Semitic twat. His son's names are the least of it.

Whatsername177 · 22/02/2020 12:43

I've read this thread with interest. I've no opinion on the names of TF's kids or him as a person. I dislike the homophobic/sexist/racist comments he has made, but, I don't know him and can only hope he hasn't taught his children those views.

However, the education debate does interest me. I teach pupils from the traveller community, including settled travellers. It is becoming more common for children to continue their education past the age of 11. Often, the mums are the decision makers. It can be really tricky for parents to keep their kids in school as there is often pressure from the community to follow traditional ways. It is even more difficult when the pupils get labelled and bullied for their heritage. I'd like to see peoples' 'kindness' being directed towards stamping out judgement and bigotry towards people from the traveller community. The daily fail have set people up to read the fact that his kids have the same name and react negatively. In reality, it isnt that odd. My great grandma was Irish and she and all of her sisters were all called Mary. My great grandma was Mary Alice, everyone called her Alice. The fail slip these little details in so to encourage the separation in peoples thinking - THEY are different to US. It is all bollocks, dont engage.

moondance19 · 22/02/2020 14:34

I watched the programme but I didn’t think it right the way the grandma (who was looking after them) let the kids get up in the middle of the night to watch the fight. Not so much because it was the middle of the night but the actual fight, watching their dad pouring with blood etc. I think it just perpetuates violence from an early age.

Thewitcher · 22/02/2020 17:35

I hope his children don't turn out to be gay. Poor kids.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 22/02/2020 17:37

SemperIdem · 22/02/2020 18:48

I assumed the boys would have middle names they could go by as well and the Daily Mail was being snide.

I have very little interest in TF personally or as a boxer.

His desire to go against tradition regarding education did interest me though.

Maybe if his kids are allowed to stay in schools it'll be them away from their scumbag father and his fucked up views.

Fedupwithmyhouse · 22/02/2020 21:55

Aww, I watched the docs and thought he came across as a really decent chap so I’m a bit disappointed to hear about his antics.

Rubyupbeat · 22/02/2020 22:03

@SimonJT
But all muslim males have the first name Mohammed, usually called by other names in daily life.

SimonJT · 23/02/2020 07:24

No they don’t, lots do, but a very large majority don’t.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/02/2020 08:25

News to me. We haven’t a single one in the family. It’s not compulsory to give your kids religious names!

KeeponswimmingKeeponswimming · 23/02/2020 09:02

Maybe that’s what happens when you get hit on the head a lot for a living?? No time for the man, sexist and homophobic as well as a bit thick.

KeeponswimmingKeeponswimming · 23/02/2020 09:07

He’s anti- Semitic as well, absolute hero that one... and his views on Jewish people, gay people, women, etc are not him being ‘misquoted’ or taken out of context - he has repeatedly said awful things over the last 5 years or so.

Whatafustercluck · 23/02/2020 09:19

I knew nothing about him until this morning. He has a very interesting back story. But Traveller or not, the views he's espoused in the past are very backward indeed. While I applaud his openness about mental health, I can't hero worship an individual who has the opinions he does about abortion, Jews, homosexuals etc.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/02/2020 09:19

He’ll fit in well in Trump’s USA.

Whatafustercluck · 23/02/2020 09:23

@Lordfrontpaw and indeed Johnson's UK it seems. The US doesn't have exclusivity in stupidity.

emilybrontescorsett · 23/02/2020 09:35

My dd had met him through work and found him to be very pleasant.
There are plenty of people who name their sons (and it is mainly sons) after themseleves.

ssd · 23/02/2020 09:41

I think him and his wife are great, a really close family. Good on them.

LoonyLunaLoo · 23/02/2020 10:18

To be fair, given the state of our 2 local schools, I’d have also removed DS at 11 and homeschooled him if he hadn’t got a place at the local grammar school 🙈 although I suppose they’d go to the Catholic high school in Lancaster?
