Who is being U regarding lunch?

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 17:02

A and B have had a day out planned for a few months. Day out is a 2 hour trip away and the opportunity for their children to have lunch at a place that sells food they can not get anywhere near where they live. Children are really excited about this. C had asked to join trip last minute which is fine, however, C and children will not eat the food served at this place and has requested they eat at a chain restaurant which they can have in hometown. A and B have said no, kids have been looking forward to this for ages, however if C and kids want to eat somewhere else then that’s fine and they can meet again after. C is mad and saying they are being selfish and not accommodating her palate. A and B refusing to budge as they had trip planned months in advance.
Who is being unreasonable?

Another one for C and me and my kids love sushi too!

QuiteTiredOut · 21/02/2020 20:52

C without a doubt. That menu looks great btw!

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 21/02/2020 20:52

Just looked at the menu and there's loads on there I would try so C is even more U...unless there are financial issues (but then, why would she invite herself it that was the case). She needs to compromise. Enjoy your sushi.

BarbedBloom · 21/02/2020 20:59

C

cheesemongery · 21/02/2020 21:00

I'm not happy having looked at the menu... I'm just home from work with a microwave lasagne for 1 - I want to go there!!!

C - obviously. There's loads on the menu, if her kids can't even appreciate noodles then wave them off to McD's.

VerbenaGirl · 21/02/2020 21:24

C!

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 22:10

And she’s not coming anymore Grin crisis averted!

Maybe she is on MN

LouHotel · 21/02/2020 22:16

YABU to drive through my city to visit those Exeter louts, we have a yo sushi and a half built museum don’t you know.

Have a good time.

HidingFromDD · 21/02/2020 22:20

Well you don't need an opinion on aibu but went there a few years ago when dd2 was at Exeter uni and it was lush, enjoy and savour it (and I have a number of sushi restaurant available to me )

lunar1 · 21/02/2020 22:23

Tell C to bog off. My husband takes our boys for sushi once a month, they'd be highly hacked off at someone joining them meaning they had to swap the meal.

Confuddledtown · 21/02/2020 23:35

Is she not coming because of the food?

AmelieTaylor · 21/02/2020 23:51

Ah well, her choice!

I wouldn’t want to eat there, but I’d happily eat else where & meet you after.

I wouldn’t want to go to the museum either...but I’m sure I’d just enjoy the day out to Exeter from somewhere 2 hours from civilisation 🤣

SentimentalKiller · 21/02/2020 23:58

I feel bereft
I don't have a sushi restaurant near me. Almost 2 hours each way to the nearest. Chains such as KFC or McD are 18 miles each way. Good for the waist line though

SidsWife · 22/02/2020 07:56

No she’s not coming because of the drive. She assumed she’d be jumping in with me but I’m going straight to London after. She’s not a confident driver.

Lol @Sidswife, I did realise how daft that sounded after I wrote it but it's somewhere for us to visit as we tend to stay near the top end of Cornwall to do Devon as well. We have family who have a flat near Exeter.

MaggieFS · 22/02/2020 08:27

Golly, I'm starting to feel so sorry for her children.

FinallyHere · 22/02/2020 10:16

Who are these people who

  • join in an existing arrangement
  • expect to be ferried around
  • demand to change the plans for lunch
  • kick off at the suggestion they lunch elsewhere
  • decided not to join in after all

Who does that sort of thing ?

Mammyloveswine · 22/02/2020 10:50

Oooh I love sushi... we have nudo in town and hubby often pops in after work to get all the half price boxes! Absolute fave!

Roll on payday...

C is being unreasonable, totally!

I hate people like this taking the piss completely! It's even worse when someone makes a big fuss about there being NOTHING at all to eat for them so sit there nursing a drink and moaning about how disgusting your food looks.. my mother does this...fuck off somewhere else and stop acting the martyr.

AlCalavicci · 22/02/2020 10:53

So the the Readers Digest version of Cs plans .
No I can not make it I am working ;
Oh I can make it ;
I dont want to go where you have planed , I want to go to a burger place .

SidsWife · 22/02/2020 11:26

slipperywhensparticus · 22/02/2020 11:29

Sushi? I dont like sushi personally so would eat elsewhere

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2020 11:40

slippery the restaurant does so much more than just sushi, OP posted a menu early on.

CallarMorvern · 22/02/2020 11:45

C. Although it is irrelevant now! That menu looks gorgeous and I'm Mrs FussyMcFussy.

EL8888 · 22/02/2020 11:46

C =it isn't all about her or her children. It is your day out which she is trying to hijack
