Who is being U regarding lunch?

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 17:02

A and B have had a day out planned for a few months. Day out is a 2 hour trip away and the opportunity for their children to have lunch at a place that sells food they can not get anywhere near where they live. Children are really excited about this. C had asked to join trip last minute which is fine, however, C and children will not eat the food served at this place and has requested they eat at a chain restaurant which they can have in hometown. A and B have said no, kids have been looking forward to this for ages, however if C and kids want to eat somewhere else then that’s fine and they can meet again after. C is mad and saying they are being selfish and not accommodating her palate. A and B refusing to budge as they had trip planned months in advance.
Who is being unreasonable?

I am the world's fussiest eater and even though I dislike raw fish intensely, I have looked at the menu and found plenty that I would try and more than likely enjoy. Thank you for giving me somewhere different to eat when we next visit Cornwall.

JudyCoolibar · 21/02/2020 20:07

Suggest to C that it's a brilliant opportunity to widen her DC's horizons and that they really need to get used to different types of food for their own sakes.

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 20:11

@theswordthatdangles it’s in Exeter Smile

PineappleDanish · 21/02/2020 20:12

C is an arse. And a fussy bugger to boot.

nettie434 · 21/02/2020 20:17

That menu looks delicious. C’s option is to go to somewhere nearby or bring a packed lunch. Interesting that you think she is the inflexible one, not her children.

KeyboardCat · 21/02/2020 20:20

Oooh I live in Exeter! Where is it?

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 21/02/2020 20:22

C is most definitely unreasonable.

1Morewineplease · 21/02/2020 20:22

C
And tell her that A and B have already planned it and it’s what the children want. She can tag along next time.

Cinderemma · 21/02/2020 20:22

C is being unreasonable!! That menu looks 👌

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 20:22

@keyboardcat it’s on north street, round the back of the guildhall I think! Been a while since I lived in Exeter!

AlexaAmbidextra · 21/02/2020 20:22

Most definitely C. I bloody hate it when someone joins last minute and then tries to change the plans.

SidsWife · 21/02/2020 20:23

Definitely C that’s inflexible. I’ve secretly fed her kids lots of food she wouldn’t allow when they’ve been at my house. She send them to mine with a packed lunch as they won’t eat my cooking (I’m Chinese/Russian) but they always eat my food Grin

OP posts:
KeyboardCat · 21/02/2020 20:28

Ah there are some lovely places round there - ignore C for latching onto your day out and trying to change your plans. Ridiculous behaviour!

Wereallsquare · 21/02/2020 20:29

What redeeming qualities does C have? She sounds intolerable!

FinallyHere · 21/02/2020 20:30

@katy1213

If you have only ever tried supermarket sashimi, I'm afraid that you do not know what you are missing.

nettie434 · 21/02/2020 20:33

Definitely C that’s inflexible

My careless wording Sidswife. I was trying to say that I wondered if she was trying to deflect from her own fussiness by saying her children wouldn’t like the food.

reefedsail · 21/02/2020 20:34

Only read page 1 but I knew it would be Yo Sushi. Literally my 9yo's favourite thing to eat and he'd be gutted if we were passing one but he couldn't go (we are a good 90 mins from one too- also in the West country).

There are tonnes of other places C can eat- probably even in that same street in Exeter!

MulticolourMophead · 21/02/2020 20:36

Well, it looks pretty clear everyone thinks C is BU (including me).

I also think it's a shame she's teaching her DC to be fussy, when they could be enjoying that lovely looking menu.

reefedsail · 21/02/2020 20:38

Oh! Not Yo Sushi. That looks even better! I really need some tempura vegetables now.

Don't cave OP!

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 21/02/2020 20:45

I hate sushi but even I think C is a being an eejit. You don't need to eat together and you aren't joined at the hip. You go out, split up for lunch, meet back for coffee and cake in the afternoon. No big deal.

ineedaholidaynow · 21/02/2020 20:46

Do you think that restaurant is now going to be taken over by MNetters?

Okbutno · 21/02/2020 20:47

C is being unreasonable

cstaff · 21/02/2020 20:48

C is being a pain in the arse. No question

LoonyLunaLoo · 21/02/2020 20:48

C is BU

But YABU to not put a vote on your post as you’d have got a rare 100% YANBU I’m sure!

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 21/02/2020 20:50

Definitely C
