When I got home from work husband had pain in his lower right chest/upper abdomen and was struggling to breathe in properly. He kept telling me he was fine and he’d just got very cold on his cycle home from work (it’s about 45 mins-an hour in all weathers so not entirely inconceivable) and would be fine once he warmed up. I put it down to an intercostal muscle sprain or maybe a virus. Before bed I checked his temperature and it was 37.8 so again, I assumed viral infection. Kept telling me he was fine 🙄

We tried to get an early night at about 8.45 as we were both shattered. He’s been lying next to me with really laboured/irregular breathing, whimpering. He’s now got aching/pulsating hips/bum/legs. His temp is 38.3. He just asked me to check the colour of his legs ‘because they feel like they are rotting away’. I’m assuming he’s a bit feverish?! They look normal! I’ve given him some paracetamol but he’s point blank refusing to come out from under the duvet or take off his pjs. He was complaining that he hadn’t been able to poo today earlier (very unusual for him).

He’s an endurance athlete and used to a fresh kind of hell when it comes to suffering so I’m inclined to think whatever this is must be pretty awful to have floored him like this. I have no idea whether he’s about to drop down dead or if he’s being a bit dramatic.

It sounds like he’s being hit hard with something. I’d be concerned about appendicitis or sepsis. Hopefully you’ve got an ambulance coming!

Justaboy · 21/02/2020 01:08

Just had a text back from a relly who is on duty tonite said " sounds bad ambulance now"!.

I hope the OP has gone with him and hope all works out with a good outcome!

stickerqueen · 21/02/2020 01:20

call 999 chest pains. 111 will send an ambulance for chest pains so you may as well call one yourself.

Elle7rose · 21/02/2020 01:30

Just call 999 for an ambulance, don't wait for 111 to phone back. People with sepsis can seem reasonably well one minute and then deteriorate (and without treatment pass away) very quickly.

PickleMyPepper · 21/02/2020 01:44

Please tell me you've called 999 or are on your way to the hospital?

I've had those types of symptoms twice.
The first time I had a bleed on the brain, the second time I had sepsis.
Delirious, hallucinations, fever, pain, altered breathing.

This really isn't a 111 and wait situation. It's a blue-light, 999, straight to resus situation. Don't hesitate.

TenShortStories · 21/02/2020 01:51

Oh gosh, hope you're busy getting this sorted. I'm sure he'll be fine once he's in the right place.Flowers

Hotchocolate321 · 21/02/2020 01:59

I’m not generally an A+E NOW person (I really hate it when people write this!) but in this case I would echo this. I never trust 111 personally, not if it’s niggling in the back of my mind that it might be something serious.

Hopefully you have gone there by now given when you originally posted and are being seen to, hope it isn’t anything serious.

PixieDustt · 21/02/2020 01:59

Agree with @PickleMyPepper hope he's okay!

Littlemissdaredevil · 21/02/2020 02:07

Hope you are ok and you are at the hospital now

Enchiladas · 21/02/2020 02:09

I hope he's ok OP

TheoriginalLEM · 21/02/2020 02:23

Blatant place marking in the hope that you have got some medical help. In my experience 111 isn't fit for purpose.

cheesemongery · 21/02/2020 02:40

Fever, hallucinating, chest pains, deliriousness...

there's only one thing for it...

ask Mumsnet.

FFS.

I sincerely hope he is feeling better soon and is in hospital now.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/02/2020 02:55

I hope your dh is safe and being looked after. The symptoms you described are very worrying.

shudup · 21/02/2020 03:05

How did it turn out?

Instatwat · 21/02/2020 03:10

I hope you went to A&E? I will never understand people posting urgent medical-related queries on here. That is exactly what 111 is for.

Kwkwjwkek · 21/02/2020 03:24

A&e

kateandme · 21/02/2020 03:45

please be in hospital now

BlackCatSleeping · 21/02/2020 04:24

Hope everything is ok and he's getting checked out?

thaegumathteth · 21/02/2020 04:30

As soon as I read your OP I thought of my experience with sepsis. I hope he's ok

MarchBorn · 21/02/2020 04:40

Hoping you’ve got the help you need OP

Whentheleavesfalldown · 21/02/2020 05:00

Hope he's at the hospital being checked out!

Also @Queenie8 an AAA is not a type of heart attack, but it can be the cause of one. Sorry to hear your DF had one, hope he's okay now!

OrangeLindt · 21/02/2020 05:04

Sounds like Sepsis, hope your DH and you are ok op

bananallamas · 21/02/2020 05:20

Hope he's ok

Bitofnamechanging · 21/02/2020 05:22

Hope you're ok op

wehaveafloater · 21/02/2020 05:29

Exhaustion from lack of food and over exercise can be sustainable for a while but all of a sudden it hits you like a freight train . This is what I experienced and it sounds awfully like your description . I was admitted for a week and given weekly 'chat sessions ' to make sure I didn't have some sort of eating disorder .

I do hope he ( and you ) are both ok ?
