111/GP tomorrow/tell him to man up?

When I got home from work husband had pain in his lower right chest/upper abdomen and was struggling to breathe in properly. He kept telling me he was fine and he’d just got very cold on his cycle home from work (it’s about 45 mins-an hour in all weathers so not entirely inconceivable) and would be fine once he warmed up. I put it down to an intercostal muscle sprain or maybe a virus. Before bed I checked his temperature and it was 37.8 so again, I assumed viral infection. Kept telling me he was fine 🙄

We tried to get an early night at about 8.45 as we were both shattered. He’s been lying next to me with really laboured/irregular breathing, whimpering. He’s now got aching/pulsating hips/bum/legs. His temp is 38.3. He just asked me to check the colour of his legs ‘because they feel like they are rotting away’. I’m assuming he’s a bit feverish?! They look normal! I’ve given him some paracetamol but he’s point blank refusing to come out from under the duvet or take off his pjs. He was complaining that he hadn’t been able to poo today earlier (very unusual for him).

He’s an endurance athlete and used to a fresh kind of hell when it comes to suffering so I’m inclined to think whatever this is must be pretty awful to have floored him like this. I have no idea whether he’s about to drop down dead or if he’s being a bit dramatic.

Hope some medical help is on the way x

MrsEricBana · 20/02/2020 23:53

A&E. Def needs checking. Hope he's ok.

Lipz · 20/02/2020 23:55

Gosh that doesn't sound good. If he never normally complains I'd be concerned. It could be a number of things. I'd phone now to see what is advised.

NotYourHun · 20/02/2020 23:55

111 called waiting for call back. Managed to sound reasonably together when he spoke to the man on the phone.

Right handed abdominal pain with fever could be appendicitis or peritonitis and sepsis. I hope you're in hospital with him by now OP.

SingleSidedShoulderShrug · 20/02/2020 23:56

Call 999

Marshmallow91 · 20/02/2020 23:57

Please call 999 for an ambulance. He very likely has a serious infection if he has a temp and hallucinations and is difficult to rouse. Don't wait any longer, please. Every minute can make the difference.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 21/02/2020 00:04

Please don't wait for the 111 call-back: the third time my husband had sepsis (yup- three times in the space of a year he had it) we did this and it went undetected. I still had to do a mad dash to hospital with him the next day. The reason 111 weren't concerned? He was fairly lucid on the phone and downplayed symptoms. Please get your DH to hospital.

incognitomum · 21/02/2020 00:05

Blimey how scary I hope he'll be ok?

AllyBamma · 21/02/2020 00:06

ICU nurse here. Please don’t wait for the 111 call back, phone for an ambulance now. His altered mental state is extremely concerning and I would also be suspecting a ruptured appendicitis which can be life threatening

Queenie8 · 21/02/2020 00:10

It could also be a AAA. Which is a type of heart attack. Please call 999. My DF had one, and thankfully lived to tell the tale.

Herocomplex · 21/02/2020 00:13

Have you called OP? I’m worried he’s got pneumonia.

36degrees · 21/02/2020 00:19

This really does sound like it could be indicative of sepsis. Hopefully you are on your way to have him checked out at A&E now. Not the most fun place to spend the evening, will be thinking of you OP.

GoldLeafTree · 21/02/2020 00:19

Hope they call you back soon. I'd be going straight to A+E/calling 999

PawPawNoodle · 21/02/2020 00:29

Yes, please do tell him to man up from his quite scary symptoms.

Sounds like appendicitis to me.

MusicTeacherSussex · 21/02/2020 00:34

Ambulance, now.

Thinkingabout1t · 21/02/2020 00:36

OP, dial 999. This sounds too serious to wait for 111. He needs to be seen at once. Good luck.

lucylocksmithx · 21/02/2020 00:37

If he doesn't usually moan, I wouldn't just tell him to man up, it could be serious, definitely contact 111

DreemOn · 21/02/2020 00:40

.

Yeeted · 21/02/2020 00:40

I agree. Forget 111 and phone 999. Could be sepsis

Justaboy · 21/02/2020 00:42

Call 999 now 111 could be ages and too late!

Namechangeforthegamechange · 21/02/2020 00:49

111 could be hours calling you back I would take him up and be seen xx hugs x

GloGirl · 21/02/2020 00:50

I'd also call 999 with the laboured breathing and feeling so deathly I'll "my legs feel like they're rotting"

If you dont need an ambulance they wouldn't send one.

Good luck Flowers

Josette77 · 21/02/2020 00:54

Call 999

FloopDeLaPoop · 21/02/2020 00:57

Hopefully you've gone quiet because you've either rang an ambulance or are taking him to A&E yourself.

If not, listen to ICU nurse and others telling you to get him seen now. All of the symptoms on their own are fairly serious and would warrant being seen tonight anyway, never mind being added together with a load of other serious symptoms.

Good luck.
