AIBU to feel that it's insensitive for Westminster Abby to ring it's bells to celebrate Andrew's 60th?

My question is why isn't he being questioned by the police about it? Doesn't that seem like an injustice to you? He lied countless times on TV, lots of his lies have been proven to be lies all over the internet and yet you are willing to believe him? Weird. Maybe you just need to go away and do a bit more research on the subject. I'll assume you know nothing about the topic.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2020 19:55

He needs to be questioned by the police about what he knows

Without doubt, yes, but does anyone seriously imagine, even for an instant, that mummy would allow it to happen?

Not much point in hoping Charles would sanction this when the time comes either ... in his circumstances, encouraging enquiries as to exactly what a RF member knew about a paedophile might not be wise

mindproject · 19/02/2020 19:57

If the Queen won't allow him to be questioned then we do not have a justice system in this country. Plain and simple.

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 19:59

It is an American case, not British. Do you seriously think the Queen has any say in what the American police do?

mindproject · 19/02/2020 20:01

I still don't understand why anyone is defending him?

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:04

It isn't about defending him, it is about acknowledging that we don't know if the allegations are true, we certainly don't know the Queen is stopping the American police investigating but it does seem unlikely. Why are you so keen to be judge jury and executioner?

mindproject · 19/02/2020 20:08

I want to see an end to exploitation, child abuse, sex-trafficking. That begins with investigations into elite pedo rings.

I'm just a person with an opinion. I want to see justice done and the people involved questioned by the police. Why don't you want that?

drina27 · 19/02/2020 20:09

@TheQueef

The expression is “Au contraire...” Don’t you speak French?

(Still “Oh contraire was v amusing.)

drina27 · 19/02/2020 20:11

(Still “Oh contraire...” was v amusing.)

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:12

Where have I said I don't want it investigated? You don't want it investigated, you have already decided he is guilty so you don't need an investigation. That isn't justice, that is a witch hunt.

TheQueef · 19/02/2020 20:12

No it was a Blackadder reference about tits Smile

mindproject · 19/02/2020 20:15

People have become upset because months and months have gone by and there has been no investigation. It makes you wonder why. This is not what justice looks like.

It isn't a witch hunt, don't be ridiculous.

drina27 · 19/02/2020 20:22

Blackadder!? Really really!?!?!

mindproject · 19/02/2020 20:22

Either Virginia Roberts is lying or Prince Andrew is. Which one do you believe?

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:22

So people become upset so you just jump the need for him being questioned, charged and convicted and go straight to knowing he is lying and knowing he is guilty.

You don't seriously believe that is how the justice system works. How about if I say you assaulted me? Say I keep saying it and everyone on here says well it must be true. Do you think that is justice?

drina27 · 19/02/2020 20:24

Prince Andrew’s behaviour was - and probably still us - very sleazy. (I would like to say he IS sleazy but it is forbidden on MN.)

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:24

Either Virginia Roberts is lying or Prince Andrew is. Which one do you believe? Based on what? Always believing the woman, always believing the posh man? I don't have enough evidence to know which one is lying and neither do you although you have made your mind up anyway. That is the witch hunt, you don't need evidence do you.

drina27 · 19/02/2020 20:24

IS

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2020 20:24

Do you seriously think the Queen has any say in what the American police do?

Not sure of the relevance of this, since Andrew isn't in the US and isn't likely to go
Unless you're thinking of rendition I guess, which calls up a wonderful mental picture ... pistols at dawn in the Mall, with the feds yanking (sorry!!) in one direction and Andrew's security staff in the other Wink

we certainly don't know the Queen is stopping the American police investigating

I totally agree we can't know, but would offer just two words:

Paul Burrell

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:25

drina that might be true but being sleazy isn't a crime is it. Being sleazy doesn't mean you get convicted without a trial.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2020 20:27

she might be an attention seeker or looking for a payout

It's Misogyny Bingo.

Play along at home.

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:27

The case is in America, I don't know of a case in the UK.

mindproject · 19/02/2020 20:28

He isn't going to be convicted without a trial, you are being ridiculous. There isn't even going to be a trial as he is above the law. That much is obvious; and it stinks.

1forsorrow · 19/02/2020 20:29

So it is alright to say he is guilty but you can't even say that the accuser could have other motives. I don't know about misogyny but there is certainly misandry.

He could be telling the truth, she could be telling the truth. We don't know however much you want to whip yourself up into a frenzy.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2020 20:31

I don't know about misogyny but there is certainly misandry.

BINGO Misandry for the win.
