AIBU to call it now that his girlfriend is pregnant?

Oh God is there a pregnancy? That ought to be happy news but it feels an unhappy situation - newish relationship, 20 year age gap, hideously demanding jobs, new puppy a few months ago. Hope CS has a supportive network around her. Maybe Johnson is a good dad if he decides to be a dad, IYSWIM.

SaskiaRembrandt · 19/02/2020 06:47

Of course it's our business, he's the Prime Minister not some bloke who advertises shampoo. If he can't demonstrate any control of his actions in his private life or any loyalty or responsibility towards his family, why should we trust him to behave appropriately in his professional role? And that's before we consider the implications for national security of having an impetuous, irresponsible serial adulterer as PM.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 19/02/2020 06:52

Of course it's our business. He has written about single mothers and called their children "ignorant and ill-raised". His party stigmatises single mothers and his party's policies disadvantage them. His hypocrisy is certainly our business.

Floribundance · 19/02/2020 06:56

His personal life is hardly a secret and he’s still been chosen to lead the Conservative Party and then elected with a huge majority. He’s also been involved with intelligent, successful women who knew his reputation. It’s one of life’s mysteries.

PatienceVirtue · 19/02/2020 06:57

I heard she was pg before Xmas and the scant photos since then don’t disabuse me. I’m no moralist but I do feel a bit squeamish esp since the papers (who seem to apply a totally different moral code to him) will be all like ‘baby at no 10’ or ‘Brexit baby’. And they’ll parade the baby around like they do that poor dog.

Mumdiva99 · 19/02/2020 06:58

To be honest this is old news. He was with his gf when conservatives were given control of the country by the voting public. So the decision has already been made that the majority of voters (not exactly how our system works I know but don't know how to express it) don't care that he's a lying, cheating, man. So let's move on and not dwell as it will just become a witch hunt and isn't productive or helpful.

Floribundance · 19/02/2020 06:59

I’m sure both the dog and the baby will have lovely lives despite their close proximity to Dominic Cummings.

Monty27 · 19/02/2020 07:02

It's sychophantasical that's what it is Angry

PatienceVirtue · 19/02/2020 07:02

It will, however, reignite the whole how many babies question. Congratulations PM on your fifth, sixth or is it seventh child?

And I don’t think it’s a private matter given he’s pontificated on single mothers. The double standards are astounding.

Ps it would be seventh child. How very environmental.

Jarvisisgod · 19/02/2020 07:02

Ffs. Mumsnet scraping the barrel again.

Corbyn has an affair with Abbott but I didn’t see many posters starting threads about how he wouldn’t be fit for office

JinglingHellsBells · 19/02/2020 07:04

Dont agree with posters saying it's our business.
It's possible to compartmentalise your life .

Also, the implication is that it was his wife- Marina- who delayed the divorce around the settlement and they have only just agreed.

Your personal morality does not have to affect your ability to run the country or what you choose to do. And BJ is not a dictator- there is a cabinet and the idea of democracy is the other ministers have some input!

If you look at history going back 100 years or more there have been some very dodgy PMs in terms of their personal lives, but they were good PMs.

There are some very successful and powerful men (and women) out there who have made billions and contributed to society yet they have car crashes of private lives.

I do think however, that Boris ought to have kept his girlfriend out of the limelight till he was divorced for her sake as much as anything.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/02/2020 07:05

Pregnant? Pure speculation. There was a photo of her on hols in her bikini in the Mail and no sign of a bump then.

Monty27 · 19/02/2020 07:06

@02Jarvisisgod
I certainly know who I'd prefer and it certainly wouldn't be blow job BJ that's for sure Hmm

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2020 07:06

I would say wanker. But he’d rather stick it in someone. Anyone.

SirChing · 19/02/2020 07:08

I don't actually get the angst about his GF being pregnant (if indeed she is), and Boris not yet being divorced. He has been separated from his wife for over two years.

I am still not fully divorced from my ex but I couldn't feel more single if I tried. And I have had a decent length relationship with someone else since we split. It's just paperwork.

Much as I am not keen on BoJo, I remember well the heavy insinuations in the papers about his wife being less than faithful in a public place, where the chap she was with was arrested and charged for it. So, who knows what goes on behind closed doors? Plenty of people have open marriages, so it's up to them what they do.

His biggest "crime" (aside from his politics) is denying and trying to suppress knowledge of his fifth child. Poor girl. To be cruel to a child IS dreadful.

SirChing · 19/02/2020 07:08

Fuck, that was long, sorry Blush

Fr0g · 19/02/2020 07:09

Have you not seen how much they hate single mothers.

whereas Boris, the absolute charmer, described the children of single mothers as “ill-raised, ignorant, aggressive and illegitimate” and has said nothing against the twat appointed that thinks women should involuntarily be require birth control from puberty.
And least Sabisky has resigned.

PatienceVirtue · 19/02/2020 07:09

Bikini photo an old one. She’s def pg. There’s a mail piece using DM euphemisms that says as much.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 19/02/2020 07:10

@JinglingHellsBells But surely it is different when you are making decisions that affect others to such an extent? I really couldn't care less about celebrities' private lives but politicians should practise what they preach! Different story I know, but it enrages me when you look at all the Republican politicians who get voted in on anti-abortion policies and then it comes to light that they have had their mistresses abort pregnancies (yes, there are several of them!) I can't stand the hypocrisy.

Floribundance · 19/02/2020 07:10

I think it is worth comparing the way the media are treating this to the way that they treat many women in public life and their personal lives. It shouldn’t be notable that they’re not harassing a woman who may be pregnant by encouraging photographers to stalk her and publishing ‘is she or isn’t she’ shots.

Floribundance · 19/02/2020 07:14

There are so many reasons that BJ isn’t fit for office that I doubt his colourful personal life would make the top 10.

gingersausage · 19/02/2020 07:14

Nice to see the double standards are alive and well on here as well as usual.

A woman posted a thread yesterday about having a third child, prompting snarky comments about overpopulation - BJ has 7 and “it’s his business”

The Tory party thinks single mothers are the scourge of the earth and yet their leader thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to litter the countryside with them - yet “that’s his business”

MUMSnet - for women to stick up for the poor oppressed downtrodden men 🙄🙄🙄

Floribundance · 19/02/2020 07:15

Maybe the garden bridge was his attempt at carbon offsetting.

SirChing · 19/02/2020 07:23

@gingersausage personally, I feel like if I condemn Boris if Carrie is pregnant, then I am condemning her too. And she has done nothing wrong.

Also, it would be his Xth child but her first, so I personally can't get cross about the environmental impact for that reason. If they had six together and were having their seventh, then that's one couple with all those kids. But spread across several mothers, who may well have had the same number of kids each but with another man, it kind of dilutes it a bit, IYSWIM.

SirChing · 19/02/2020 07:24

To put it another way, I am way more pissed off with the carbon footprint of the Rees Moggs. One couple doesn't need all those kids.
