It’s just a law of averages that with the amount of books written there’s bound to be one with a situation you can interpret to be the same

I'm in far NE Italy (Friuli). Just had confirmation thay schools are now shut until at least 1st March as well as museums, libraries etc and any type of public gathering is forbidden (so no sports training sessions etc for the kids). They've also been hard at work today setting up two regional quarantine centres despite the fact that the region has yet to have a single case.

@ChipotleBlessing I was actually referring to the UK trends on twitter. There are no coronavirus hashtags trending even though we have just found out that the UK has 4 more cases. Obviously Italy will have them trending.
The BBC hardly mentioned Italy until about 15 minutes after we found out about 4 more cases here. Now that dominates the news and it's buried the news about Arrowe Park.

I'm sure this has been discussed but what are people's views on travel whilst all this is going on. We have a family holiday booked to Turkey end of May...

I think may is far enough away not to worry. Either it will all have blown over or all travel will be cancelled. Either way you can't do anything now!

On my bbc news app the new Uk cases are the top story, Italy is second. Plus I got a breaking news alert about the uk cases. It doesn't seem buried.

Seventyone - apologies, it does read as if Italians are on holiday. I did mean that the Italian ski resorts aren't going to be exclusively used by non Italian tourists. Italians go skiing too!

I didn't realise you were living in Northern Italy. I hope you are OK and this stays contained.

My point is that we are all commuting to other countries and events such as ski holidays and rugby events whilst this virus is quietly spreading.

Air travel is not curtailed. That is something to watch, if you are worried that is. That is how it will spread everywhere now.

But I am still going away mid March. On a plane, to Sevilla, and I am obviously one of millions across the globe doing similar flights to their destinations.

I know it will spread this way, but I cannot and will not put my life on hold either. If the FO puts out a warning I will not go. But unless every flight to everywhere is cancelled, off we go.

I do think half term would have been a huge mixing pot for it and cases will rise after it.

How to self quarantine at home with small dc?would dh leave things out side bedroom door? How would he then collect items, how would one go to the loo if only one loo in house? I can't see how one would self quarantine...

Suspected case of #coronavirus in Romania: A 52 yo woman called authorities saying she just found out a relative of hers from Italy she worked with was diagnosed with #covid19. She was coming from an Italian city under quarantine.

There are 1.2m Romanians living in Italy, the largest immigrant group within Italy. So far the authorities said they'll ask people flying from there to fill in a questionnaire and will be placed under 14 days quarantine if they come from Lombardy or Veneto.

How does quarantining a town work? If you worked in a different town and your home town was put under quarantine would you be allowed home after work? If not and you had nowhere else to go what would you be expected to do?
Was wondering if say commuters from London couldn’t get back to a town that was quarantined for example...
