We are into the land of the unknowns here. We don't know the long term prognosis of those people who have recovered from COVID-19.
We do know that people with respiratory problems are more at risk to subsequent infections.
If you've got lung damage getting reinfected would be bad news.
We don't know if there is a mutation. It's possible. It's something scientists are worried about in case in becomes more viriluent.
I think the research I've seen suggested its genetic make up looked stable but there were concerns that just one mutation in one area of its code could be a problem.
I've seen the comments about this reinfection thing.
I'm slightly dubious about it being so early on tbh.
What I've seen about COVID-19 is that after two weeks people can show some improvement and then have a massive relapse when their immune system kicks in. This would be in keeping with the idea of 'reinfection' especially if reports of false negative testing is to be believed.
If you have a lot of patients if you show signs of recovery and there is pressure to discharge then you might get a pattern that looks like a 'reinfection'.
Too early to tell and speculation is really unhelpful on this. It just scares people as if it's not scary enough.
