Hay...

Listening to the wind just starting to pick up here in Suffolk.

Is it bad where you are?

@RapidRainbow I'm not too sure officially. I just did a quick google and I think glasgow (where I am) in 1968 we had winds of 140mph

iklboo · 09/02/2020 12:04

Manchester here - still quite bad. Calmed down a bit from about 7:30 but very windy and rain lashing. Cats not happy.

RightestPersonOnMN · 09/02/2020 12:05

My idiot cat is out, @iklboo Hmm

Lordfrontpaw · 09/02/2020 12:05

Cat will blow away!

carnivalisover · 09/02/2020 12:06

Pouring here but Ikea managed to make my delivery 😁

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 12:07

We got home from the shop to find the large fire escape window open downstairs. Not sure if somebody has tried to get in but nothing is missing.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 09/02/2020 12:07

Just had to pick up my wheelie bins. Thankfully food shop has just been delivered.

shinynewapple2020 · 09/02/2020 12:08

Midlands / think it's starting up again now. We had a bit of a lull this morning so I was able to take dog out. We've certainly not got it as bad as some though - can't see any damage in surrounding houses at the moment (touch wood)

Lordfrontpaw · 09/02/2020 12:08

I’ve seen quite a few healthy trees split or with huge branches blown off. It’s very blustery!

LuluJakey1 · 09/02/2020 12:09

Seems ok here this morning - north-east coast. Windy but not terrible. Not too cold. Dry and sunny now. We are off for a walk and an ice cream with the DC.

Justaboy · 09/02/2020 12:09

Thunder storms in the surrey area!..

LakieLady · 09/02/2020 12:11

I was very surprised to see nothing in the garden had moved this morning including a trampoline but that always seems secure in the corner we have it in

Someone in Kent wasn't so lucky.

On the news just now, they announced that the railway line between Sevenoaks and somewhere else has been closed because of a trampoline on the line!

It seems to be getting worse here (Sussex). We've just had a couple of massive gusts.

Vilanelle · 09/02/2020 12:14

Windy and rain in south wales. Doesn't seem to be the worst I've experienced though. Although not sure I would travel in it

millerjane · 09/02/2020 12:23

Would it be evil of me to order a takeaway? Feel bad for the driver

ADarkandStormyKnight · 09/02/2020 12:26

Feel bad for the driver big tip?

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 12:27

MIllerjane I am tempted to do that tonight...I've just driven the route they would take as we went to the supermarket and it's OK but there are big trees. I think I'll have to give it a miss or I'll feel too bad - but then the onus is on the company as well to suspend their service. I wouldn't want to be on a moped in this though.

RapidRainbow · 09/02/2020 12:28

@millerjane they might want the money so do what suits you rather than being dismissed early because its quiet. Give them a tip if you feel bad Smile

SunshineCake · 09/02/2020 12:36

@Ponoka7 I have been reading this thread on and off so may have misunderstood but were you saying the UK is getting snow in a couple of days ?

I've made a note on my calendar for the 25th as that is when my son thinks we are getting some.

Just been out with DD and had one moment of scariness when we were blown a bit. Some poor person was on the ground covered in blankets with lots of people helping so I hope they are okay. Bit concerned about the two small children stood nearby Confused.

DecemberSnow · 09/02/2020 12:44

I couldn't bring myself to order a take away, i would feel to sorry for the poor driver....

But no-one delivers where we are... So i hate all of you who can get just eat deliveries :)

In the SE, not far from the coast and the wind is quite bad here at the moment.

The house has been making a funny sort of humming noise, which is quite alarming and the dog keeps looking at me in a 'what the hell was that' way - she has an exaggerated idea of my ability to solve problems and sort out scary things - I told her it's ok and she's gone back to sleep; I'm just hoping the windows aren't about to blow in.

NemophilistRebel · 09/02/2020 13:10

Countless photos of cars with trees through the roves popping up locally on social media

The windmill has lost a sail

The nearby reservoir looks like it’s too dangerous to surf on

One of my plant pots fell over Blush

I saw a good recycling caddy fly across the road

This concludes my 1pm update

Clutterbugsmum · 09/02/2020 13:10

Well our shed roof nearly blow off, had to screw it back on. Funnily I was holding the roof on in wind and torrential rain while DH was in the shed screwing the roof back on.

isseywith4vampirecats · 09/02/2020 13:13

being going all night here in Halifax three parts of the local area have flooded already Hebden bridge, and Mythomroyd again and Mixenden parts of there have flooded for the first time in 30 years feel so sorry for the people involved, homes and businesses going through this again so soon after the last one

TyroSaysMeow · 09/02/2020 13:13

They've closed the Humber Bridge and the Pride of Hull couldn't dock this morning. Wind is ridiculously noisy; also pissing down. The cat insisted on going out in it. She was back two minutes later, looking like a drowned rat.

Littlemissdaredevil · 09/02/2020 13:13

A bit of wind and rain here in Devon but nothing exceptional
