to think that valentines day is pointless

It only benefits the shops that sell all the gifts, flowers and cards doesn't it? I can't see the point in wasting money on it when it's surely the rest of the year that matters more?

Sometimes at work we see people getting stuff like bouquets of flowers delivered but who spend the rest of the year bemoaning how awful their wife/husband are.

I like it, don't do anything though, just get a card and a takeaway.

Yes ok it is pointless, but so are lots of days, Christmas and Easter (unless you're religious), Mother's Day, it's just a bit of fun that you can choose to ignore.

*Valentines is either creepy or showing off. Never actually come across anything genuinely meaningful.

Do you do steak and blowjob day too?*

How can it really be that black and white? I'm not sure how DH and I are showing off if we exchange gifts, cook together and snuggle. Only my son will know about it and will probably make vom noises at us all night.

Steak and blowjob day is my husbands birthday so probably 🤷🏻‍♀️

We have a lot of significant dates in Feb, valentines, wedding anniversary, my birthday and now my daughters due date so we enjoy it being a month of showing one another appreciation.

We always mark it, but not in a big way and certainly not for the benefit of social media. I'd love to receive a romantic gesture, whether it be inspired by the date or just by me being sexy and lovely. I suspect I will remain out of luck there though.

Don't know how you define meaningful. If I were looking for a term to describe dh's and my shared box of chocolates, the first word that springs to mind is not "creepy" or "showing off", but perhaps "companionable". Which doesn't seem a bad thing to me.
