Quorn meatballs

Where have they gone?! Just used the last pack in the freezer and the supermarkets didn't have any when I went.

Any similar suggestions? Trying the birds eye ones tonight so will see how we go.

Hope the Quorn nuggets don't disappear now!

I probably am being unreasonable but I know what I like and I don't want to compromise 😁

I don't think quorn (the substance) can successfully be veganised. The chicken slices for example - veggie ones great, vegan ones are kind of slimey.
I suspect more people manage to be veggie long term than vegan (I have been both) so I wonder if it is really a profit making decision for companies.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:18

I told them that the vegan slices are slimy!

Bibidy · 10/02/2020 12:20

When I was in my local Tesco last week the Quorn selection in the freezer was woefully small.

Yeah same, it was almost empty - something must be going on surely? A nationwide shortage of Quorn! I couldn't even get the fillets last week.

It's weird as there used to be a much wider selection but obviously being vegetarian/vegan is so much more common these days. You'd think they'd be bringing out more products, not discontinuing them.

WhatDoIKnowReally · 10/02/2020 12:20

I wonder what schools are doing? Quorn meatballs are a regular on my kids school menu.

Bibidy · 10/02/2020 12:21

I also agree that it's frustrating that companies are now killing two birds with one stone by making everything vegan. I even notice a lot of restaurants only have vegan options now, which are sometimes fine but I'm really not a fan of vegan cheese so often don't order something I previously would have.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:23

Looks like Waitrose don't stock the balls anymore (not on their site - not the Tivall stuff). I can't bring myself to eat pretend fish and find the Linda McCartney stuff rather greasy. The Goodlife burgers are nice though.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:24

These are yum but Waitrose don't have them anymore - Tivall Vegetarian Meatballs. I need to find a Kosher shop!

Sibbles · 10/02/2020 12:25

They've stopped doing the Frankfurter hot dogs from the fridge section which has annoyed me! Loved them.

QueSera · 10/02/2020 12:27

I haven't seen Quorn's vegan Cumberland sausages, nor their 7-grain chicken filets, for many months.
Really hope they're not discontinued.....

Linda McCartney meatballs are very good.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:29

I did have a nice vegan mean in a greek place revently - it was mezze and mostly food that was vegan anyway (felafel, hummus, salads etc) but the one 'veganised' dish (looked like a type of coleslaw) was bloody awful and coated your mouth - I could taste it for ages afterwards. There's just no need for that!

thesunwillout · 10/02/2020 12:29

Ok, I'm not keen but Quorn hotdogs spotted in the depleted frozen section of Morrisons just now.
No normal frozen sausages tho.

I hope to god Tesco bring their version back as we go into Spring.

I definitely saw Quorn sausage patties in a big Sainsbury's.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:30

Yes, I like the hotdogs too! Waitrose now see some very expensive version which tastes bleuggggggg

TellMeItsNotTrue · 10/02/2020 12:31

They have discontinued the best of British sausages

Apparently the cocktail sausages are now horrible, they have gone from being made in 2 factories to the whole thing being done in 1 according to quorn, not sure why that would change taste/texture 🤷‍♀️ but lots of people complaining about them

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:33

I see their hot dogs are now frozen 'top dogs' - now 8 in a pack rather than 4 proper long ones (veggie though, not vegan yet).

Come on Quorn, stop messing about!

Sibbles · 10/02/2020 12:35

The frozen ones aren't a patch on the long fridge ones they did. Wonder what is going on with them removing so many things.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:37

They have discontinued the best of British sausages - are you kidding me? I told them that this was our favourite!

OK I have 2 packs in the freezer - highest bidder!

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:42

There are at least a million things they are producing on their website. Too much! I don't want to buy jambalaya for god's sake!

MorrisZapp · 10/02/2020 12:47

DS used to love the cocktail sausages, now he can't stand them. So frustrating as it's almost the only non vile protein source he used to eat.

MorrisZapp · 10/02/2020 12:48

Also I love the Thai bites but they have a bafflingly short date on them. I can never eat them on time.

Keeping this thread going, Quorn Watch.
Hopefully someone who knows more than me about social media could link this thread to Quorn.

Dear Quorn
We have been quietly eating/supporting your brand forever, veggies and those substituting meat.

Please keep making the food we love. Think of the children!

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 13:09

I emailed them.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 13:11

I've now tweeted them. The scunners...

RaininSummer · 10/02/2020 13:26

I hate this veganisation of everything. A pub I go to (cheap n cheerful) has done this to their menu fake beef pie (instead of thai lentil one previously) and numerous items with fake cheese etc just emulating meat or fish rather than being nice veggie or vegan real food options.

I hate Linda Mc sausages as the texture is horrible - actually had them in lunch today and binned most of them. Am really missing Tesco's soya sausages as don't eat quorn much (upset stomach issues). Cauldron seem the best replacement.

cushioncovers · 10/02/2020 13:35

I'm sure I read last year that quorn are aiming to make all their products vegan over time.

Magnificentme · 10/02/2020 13:43

I've been having the same problem I can't seem to get any quorn stuff from any supermarket
