Quorn meatballs

Where have they gone?! Just used the last pack in the freezer and the supermarkets didn't have any when I went.

Any similar suggestions? Trying the birds eye ones tonight so will see how we go.

Hope the Quorn nuggets don't disappear now!

I probably am being unreasonable but I know what I like and I don't want to compromise 😁

Asda own brand ones are the best imo. And I'm not vegetarian.

Neither am I but they are so lush definitely the best ones around

Lordfrontpaw · 09/02/2020 16:30

I’m nowhere near an Asda! Dammit.

Flightsoffancy · 09/02/2020 16:34

Most of the Quorn fridge sausages have disappeared off Ocado, and they don't seem to be able to tell me anything about it. I miss them! Sad

cyberfairy · 09/02/2020 17:08

My MIL has just found two packs of old Tesco veggie hotdogs in the bowels of her freezer and given them to me- feel like eating them would be like killing the last Dodo....i give the two days.

thesunwillout · 09/02/2020 22:06

@cyberfairy I'm so envious.
I loved them.

Lordfrontpaw · 09/02/2020 22:21

The Waitrose meatballs... well some dissolved into mince so I wasn’t overly impressed. It looked like dog food but tasted ok (but it was curry so why wouldn’t it?).

EvilPea · 10/02/2020 11:16

Just done my shopping.
Aldi have lots of sausages and chicken nuggets. Sainsbury’s, only a few crusty looking roasts in the freezer.
Fridge section was full though.

Did anyone used to have the Sainsbury’s Indian spiced burgers?
I swear they’ve changed the recipe in the last 6 months.

Marellaspirit · 10/02/2020 11:18

The birds eye ones are lovey but much higher in fat so I don't get them very often. According to Quorns website, they aren't making them at the momentSad

Letthemysterybe · 10/02/2020 11:22

Coop gro meatballs are worth a try.

Tombakersscarf · 10/02/2020 11:29

It's the vegans.
Or not the actual vegans, but the shops' desire to appeal to vegans.
Hence I cannot find hotdogs that the dc love anywhere, but could bathe in jackfruit if I so wished.

Letthemysterybe · 10/02/2020 11:33

I miss the lemon and pepper escalopes too. I probably used to have them once a week, now I reckon I have something quorny only once month.

BorneoBabe · 10/02/2020 11:39

Also, where did the Cumberland sausages go?

Sainsbury's?

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 11:42

I miss the lemon and pepper escalopes too yes! the new fangles 'southern style' ones aren't quite as nice, and the frozen round 'chicken' ones have disappeared too.

So - Brexit or Vegans - who shall I sue?

pigsDOfly · 10/02/2020 11:44

If all the lovers of Quorn meatballs sent emails to the company that makes them it might persuade them to reinstate them.

Many years ago I used a particular shade of lipstick from, I think it was Max Factor, although, it's so long ago I can't be sure.

Anyway, when I couldn't find it anywhere I rang the company to find out if it had been discontinued. They told me that they'd had so many women contact them about it that they had decided to reintroduce it.

Some companies do listen to their customers and want to supply what the customer really loves.

Although, it didn't work with the cat food that was discontinued and I had to deal with a cat that refused to eat anything else.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 11:45

Can they make them round too? They are ever so slightly just the wrong shape (yes I am that sad).

ClinkyMonkey · 10/02/2020 11:47

When I was in my local Tesco last week the Quorn selection in the freezer was woefully small. There was a lot of the Fry's brand vegan food which I don't like at all.

There is definitely a move towards catering more for vegans and assuming vegetarians will be ok with that. Lots of the things I normally buy have disappeared recently. I like vegan food (I do cook it quite frequently), but some of the vegan meat substitutes taste like roofspace insulation and I can't be doing with all those vegetable combos squashed into the shape of sausages and burgers, which either explode or disintegrate when you cook them.

BohoBunney · 10/02/2020 11:50

Quorn meatballs were the best, no wonder I've not been able to find them. I'm still upset about the sausage patties they were heaven for hangover breakfasts.

ClinkyMonkey · 10/02/2020 11:53

I wonder if Quorn will bring back their meatballs in vegan form - maybe that's what they're up to, messing around with the recipe. If so, they won't be the same.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/02/2020 12:00

I've never seen lemon and pepper escalopes, but assuming that we're talking about crispy crumbed ones, rather than just a marinated fillet, there's a cheese and brocolli one that I've only ever seen in Tesco and a garlic and mushroom one, that's a bit reminiscent of a chicken kiev and is usually in Asda. Not sure if either of these are available elsewhere.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:01

I have emailed them and mentioned the missing products, the veganisation of some (and they taste horrible when they do that). I have been eating this stuff for years and years now - it must be 16 plus years as I'm sure we used to buy it before we moved to our current home.

I wandered through M&S the other day (I'm boycotting buying fromt hem but walking through is ok) and noticed that there were quite a few 'Vegan' tagged shelves and no vegetarian ones (not even a 'Vegan/vegetarian' one like Waitrose - which is mostly vegan anyway) and just a few of the old vegetarian ready-made items in with the vegetables. The M&S 'protein' is really nasty (and I can eat most things).

nevermorelenore · 10/02/2020 12:05

Oh you are kidding, they're gone? They were one of the few veggie things all the family would eat including autistic DS. I tried some of the birds eye ones as an alternative and they were gross.

thenightsky · 10/02/2020 12:06

The Quorn facebook page is full of people asking where half the damn products have gone! We need to keep pestering I think.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/02/2020 12:08

I never used the meatballs, only the mince, but I too am perturbed at the replacement of vegetarian food with vegan.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 12:10

And the mince gives me a jippy tummy (it never used to back when it first came out) and makes DS really sick (D&V).

In fact - thinking back - I am sure I started cooking the mince back in the early 90s (fried with onion and green chillies yum yum) in our time wee started house.

thenightsky · 10/02/2020 12:10

Not been able to get the frozen mince or the pieces on my Tesco delivery since before Xmas now. Luckily our local Lidl sometimes have bags.
