To feel so disgusting and to ask strangers for advice?

I am so embarrassed by these pictures, but I have no one in real life I can ask. And I'm too ashamed to visit my doctor, plus I'd just be wasting their time.

I have an underactive thyroid which is managed by medication. I am not overweight in other places, yet my stomach is huge and round, but also saggy.

I have no idea how to even begin to find ways to solve this.

Has anyone had experience with this?

Why is my belly so big when the rest of me is a size 12.

I feel so ugly, disgusting, gross. Tops barely fit me anymore and I'm scared to move in case my top rides up at work and the belly is shown. My coat won't fasten up anymore. I look horrible in everything I wear. I just don't feel happy with my body at all.

Please don't be too harsh with me.

Hi OP, did you have this problem before taking the medication or is it a side affect of the meds?

Timmytoo · 04/02/2020 21:53

How long have you had this problem. Only asking as I looked exactly like this in my last no th of pregnancy. Could there be any chance you may be pregnant and not had any other symptoms?

HerculesMulligan · 04/02/2020 21:53

I don't want to scare you, and it's probably just a harmless side-effect of the medication, but bloating can sometimes be indicative of ovarian problems. I really think you should see your GP. He or she should take you seriously.

WhoDisNewPhone · 04/02/2020 21:53

Have you had a C section? Mine has done the same.

Why not go and see your GP. They will have seen everything and should be able to offer some help/advice.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 04/02/2020 21:54

Get it checked out, by a GP

SabineUndine · 04/02/2020 21:54

I think you need to get checked out by your GP in case this is NOT a side-effect of your medication. Even if it IS a side-effect, maybe your GP will be able to suggest something to help.

Fuckitwhynot · 04/02/2020 21:54

I 2nd getting ovaries checked, please ask your GP.

Geneshish · 04/02/2020 21:54

Oh love, you are not disgusting at all.

It does look like there might be some medical reason for the weight all being on your stomach.

Go to your GP. They have seen lots and lots of things waaay worse than a bit of a belly and will be able to advise.

MusicTeacherSussex · 04/02/2020 21:55

Oh OP Flowers I dont know what can cause it but I am feeling really sure that your doctor will understand and advise you on what to do.

Handhold here for you, don't be too hard on yourself you can sort this xx

HarleyQuinnRocks · 04/02/2020 21:55

I've always had a tummy since having 2 children but it just seems to be getting worse every month.

I can guarantee I am not pregnant so it is not caused by that.

I am having time of the month at the moment, but that's only made me slightly bloated compared to normal.

I just feel abnormal and I hate it. I can't stand seeing myself in the mirror. It's like that part of me is alien it's horrid.

ChevalierTialys · 04/02/2020 21:55

Mine has looked like ever since having a c section too.

londonrach · 04/02/2020 21:56

Id see the gp op. It could be ibs (my tummy does that if i eat brown bread), pregnancy or cyst or something else like reaction to medication. X

HarleyQuinnRocks · 04/02/2020 21:56

To the person that asked I had a c section with my first child who is now 11 years old.

OP posts:
FoamingAtTheUterus · 04/02/2020 21:57

It could be a cyst. make an appointment with your GP, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Doctors spend their days looking at butt holes and allsorts, a bloated belly won't phase them. And the sooner you go the sooner you can get help.

pickingdaisies · 04/02/2020 21:59

Oh sweetheart. Why do you think you'd be wasting the doctor's time? Tell them how miserable this is making you, and ask for help. But you aren't disgusting of course you aren't. You have a medical problem you need help with to sort out.

Yabadee · 04/02/2020 21:59

My tummy is identical to yours, except I have a stoma bag hanging from mine :) section, surgery’s and a hernia caused mine. I’ve been exercising recently though and it has gone down a bit.

No harm in going to see the doc to put your mind at rest, then you will know your next steps.

BuddhaAtSea · 04/02/2020 22:01

There’s nothing disgusting about your belly, lovely. It’s...a belly. I had my c section longer than you, I am not overweight but still have a tummy.
Go see the GP. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Mulledwineinajug · 04/02/2020 22:02

You absolutely have to go to the doctor to rule out sinister causes. I don’t want to scare you but there was a lovely lady posted a very similar thread on here a few years ago and it turned out to be ovarian cancer.

Of course, there are lots of other explanations but you absolutely must get more serious things ruled out.

Veterinari · 04/02/2020 22:02

Please see your GP ASAP - you need your ovaries screened. It is important. Please don't wait

Bockbockcaboose · 04/02/2020 22:02

OP, there is a lady on another thread who is considering showing her bumhole to a complete stranger so she can change the colour of it.

This is your belly, genuinely for your health, and your GP would be delighted to help you. Go and see them x

HarleyQuinnRocks · 04/02/2020 22:03

Why would something related to my ovaries cause fat on my entire stomach though?

OP posts:
Russellbrandshair · 04/02/2020 22:04

Please get this checked out with your GP. This level of bloating isn’t normal.

Russellbrandshair · 04/02/2020 22:05

Why would something related to my ovaries cause fat on my entire stomach though?

It’s called “ascites” and it’s build up of fluid

norealshepherds · 04/02/2020 22:05

Go to your GP. There’s no harm done in just getting things checked
