It is done, what will be will be... what is the point in getting stressed over it now?

'Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.'

@Notthissh1tagain for you.

Lifeonmars

Yes I am. Though mainly just to make the point that you are allowed to be sad about things you can't change. There's nothing wrong with that.

Please don't patronise me. I have experienced recent personal bereavement of a particularly tragic sort and am comfortable with the analogy.

Lonelycrab · 31/01/2020 23:11

You’ve drunk the koolaid and sleepwalked into the consequences.

Now reap what you sow, and own it.

Historians will look back on today’s events perhaps less optimistically.

Floribundance · 31/01/2020 23:11

Another 15 years and demographics will support rejoining. Sooner if we get a few cold winters and a strong flu season.

happyandsingle · 31/01/2020 23:12

Nice to be called a twat. What a classy comment that was.

Scautish · 31/01/2020 23:12

It must be delightful to be so utterly oblivious and devoid of thinking that you are not concerned.

I am almost jealous.

TheDarkPassenger · 31/01/2020 23:13

I’m a remainer but I’m far too laid back to be upset about something out of my control.
I do feel sorry for those for who this has affected their mental health though.

We enjoyed watching the fireworks here tbh

Didiusfalco · 31/01/2020 23:14

Don’t be a dick op. The whole point of a democracy is that people don’t have to passively accept things, but can debate, express differences of opinions, vote and try and change outcomes.

Greenpop21 · 31/01/2020 23:15

The arrogance of some remoaners. It’s ok to call leavers twats, cunts, imbeciles now is it? I’m embarrassed for you.

FlourBug · 31/01/2020 23:15

the courage to change the things I can

Useful advice

Floribundance · 31/01/2020 23:17

Anyone who sets off fireworks with no regard for animal welfare is a cunt.

Boom45 · 31/01/2020 23:17

I'll probably be ok, mine and my husband's jobs don't rely on trade with Europe or on any of the trade agreements we are giving up and we are currently healthy and reasonably young. I worry about others though, and I'm mourning what we've given up for our children. And I spent yesterday with a group of elderly people who actually remember the 2nd world war and they were so so sad.
I'm sure many people will be fine. Tonight I am going to mourn those who will not be. And all that which we have thrown away.

redcarbluecar · 31/01/2020 23:18

Thanks for your wise words OP. People are entitled to feel how they feel about Brexit or anything else in life. Happy, sad, bitter, resigned...mindset is a complex thing. You don’t sound like someone with the sensitivity or insight that would change anyone’s perspective, so why not just enjoy yourself on your own terms?

Boom45 · 31/01/2020 23:19

(And luckily none of my neighbours are setting off fireworks, I love fireworks but I live in a place where people are not celebrating)

Lifeonmars77 · 31/01/2020 23:20

@Chloemol thank you xx

@Floribundance That's a shame, I wish you well x

@MordredsOrrery I have more reasons to be unhappy than to be happy right now. In fact I am at rock bottom and have pretty much lost everything. If I don't hang on to the reasons to be happy and stay positive (however few they may be) then I risk everything. So, please do not call me 'crass' for trying to find the positives amongst all the negatives that have tried, unsuccessfully, to destroy me so far. Thank you x

Remoaners have shown their true colours by the vile language used at leave voters and for that reason I have zero empathy or respect for them.

BuckingFrolics · 31/01/2020 23:22

Brexit has so much in common with the Gordon Riots, the Civil War, and the Tudor's religious bloodbaths. I suppose they should have all just got on with being happy? The Op has the emotional intelligence of a lettuce.

Greenpop21 · 31/01/2020 23:22

@Floribundance whatever do you do on 5/11 or 31/12 and many Saturday nights during the summer wedding season? They’re all cunts too I presume?

BohoBunney · 31/01/2020 23:22

Is it really done? Because half the laws / policies / procedures haven't even been bloody agreed. Headless chickens could have organised this shit show better than TM / Bojo and the Tory Twats in parliament.

rosie1959 · 31/01/2020 23:25

OP I understand your post if many dont
I suspect I know reading between the lines where your words come from
Keep on going the only way is up

Floribundance · 31/01/2020 23:26

Summer weddings are not an excuse for fireworks. Unless you’re a fuckwit. Fireworks randomly from Diwali until New Year are also fuckwit territory. One day for a festival that’s traditionally celebrated with fireworks means I can get the prescription drugs necessary to drug my dog.

AnotherMonthAnotherName · 31/01/2020 23:27

I promise that if it's completely fine and wonderful I will stand up publicly on every social media platform and say "I was wrong"
I hope I am wrong. I hope I get to make those posts.
Time will tell.

Lifeonmars77 · 31/01/2020 23:27

@buckingfrolics It doesn't matter what they could have or should have done. The time has gone. All we can deal with is the here and now.

Go stand outside and wave flags quietly if you feel the urge.

Notthissh1tagain · 31/01/2020 23:28

Anothermonth amen to that!
