To ask those in favour of Scottish Independence to join together to renew our hopes for the future

At 23:00 on the 31st January, Scotland will be dragged out of the EU against our will.

Scotland did not vote for this. Scotland does not want this.

Now we're told by Boris Johnson that our voices will be silenced. Apparently, Scotland must remain in the UK, and the right to express our will to be independent will not be 'allowed'.

On Wednesday we saw the Brexit Party wave union flags, and embarrass the whole of these islands. I don't want to be a part of it.

So now, we will no longer be a part of the EU, and we're told we should shut up and get on with it. I won't.

It will be a truly depressing moment for me to see Scotland dragged out of the EU.

But I hope with this, we can all come together in Scotland and have a renewed focus on campaigning for independence, and ultimately righting a wrong.

What Lottie said.

hadenough · 30/01/2020 23:47

Oh, you're ahead of schedule.

Two posts in and the bashing has already started.

OP posts:
Caplin · 30/01/2020 23:48

No, just no.

I’m in Scotland, I am an ardent remainder. But that also means remaining in the uk.

I strongly believe the UK will go back in the EU in the next 10-15 years, I don’t want any more constitutional/ trade chaos.

And I cannot stand the SNP who are so obsessed with independence they are failing on health and education. And worst of all they are underspending the budget, I can only think they want to blow the money on another referendum. I’d rather they spent it on crumbling hospitals.

Caplin · 30/01/2020 23:49

And what Lottie said...

ginghambox · 30/01/2020 23:50

Scotland did not vote for this

Apart from the 1,018,322 people who did.

hadenough · 30/01/2020 23:54

@ginghambox

Just a bit outnumbered by the 62% who voted to remain.

OP posts:
Redglitter · 30/01/2020 23:56

Totally agree with @Caplin

hadenough · 30/01/2020 23:56

@caplin

I genuinely do wish that I had the same faith, but right now, I cannot see it. I am not convinced that in the rest of the UK there will be the appetite to revisit this issue, nor face the obstacles of rejoining. But I would be incredibly happy to be wrong, so I hope you're correct.

Stressedout10 · 30/01/2020 23:58

Anyone remember the 2014 remain slogan "A VOTE FOR THE UK IS A VOTE FOR THE EU "

ginghambox · 30/01/2020 23:59

What about the 2,001,926 people who voted NO in the indy ref?

Motherontheedge1 · 31/01/2020 00:01

Scotland voted to remain part of the UK and the UK decided not to remain in the EU. I think if there’s another referendum about Scottish independence it should focus on whether the rest of the UK is prepared to let you stay.

Redglitter · 31/01/2020 00:01

What about the 2,001,926 people who voted NO in the indy ref

Exactly the Scottish voters opinions only have to be listened to when it suits the SNP.

hadenough · 31/01/2020 00:02

@Stressedout10

Yes, I remember. I was told that a 'No' vote was the only way to secure continued EU membership. I also remember being told the idea of Boris Johnson as PM was a scare story.

@ginghambox - the above point answers your question.

OP posts:
Caplin · 31/01/2020 00:05

@motheronthedge1 that is a dick statement that makes it tougher for us Scottish remainers to justify staying with England. I don’t want to leave, and then people come out with shit like that and it is hard not to say ‘f off’

hadenough · 31/01/2020 00:05

@ motherontheedge1

'it should focus on whether the rest of the UK is prepared to let you stay.'

The question should be

´why is the rest of the UK so scared to let us decide to leave'.

We don't need permission from the UK to express our combined will.

OP posts:
Fatasfooook · 31/01/2020 00:08

Scotland should not be stopped from deciding it’s own future. It’s a disgrace that the country is allowing BJ to act like a dictator in this way. Whether scotland decides to leave or remain in the UK is a decision for the Scottish people. And yes, the goalposts have significantly changed so the 2014 vote needs revisited

Retroflex · 31/01/2020 00:20

@Stressedout10 "Anyone remember the 2014 remain slogan "A VOTE FOR THE UK IS A VOTE FOR THE EU ""

Exactly, yet more lies from the South to keep Scotland running scared... It's an absolute joke! And certainly not a democracy in my opinion, as no matter what way, Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales vote, the "masses" of ignorant sheep determine what dictatorship is in power at any given time...

Retroflex · 31/01/2020 00:21

England decides who is in power, and anyone who believes otherwise is as delusional as our current government!

Mollypolly2610 · 31/01/2020 00:33

Get rid of Queen Nicola! It’s boring! Get the NHS sorted out.

TheGirlfromtheFictionDept · 31/01/2020 00:40

It was a UK wide vote so sadly we're leaving. You can thank SNP Nicola and LibDem Jo for giving Boris the GE he needed to Get Brexit Done Angry

RasberryRoyale · 31/01/2020 00:46

More people voted to leave the EU than voted for the Snp I read.
We voted to stay in the U.K., it wasn’t a question of does Scotland want to stay in the EU, but a question of does the UK want to stay.

But then again, respecting results of democratic processes isn’t a strength of the snp. Had we voted for independence we would have left the EU. I cannot believe they overpaid bunch of muppets spent hours debating if they should fly a flag - a fucking flag - on Friday when education which is a priority (ha ha ha) hasnt been debated in some time.

Two referendums haven’t gone their way, they need to get over it.

Overtheknee · 31/01/2020 00:59

Wow. The vote is currently 55% to 45%. Familiar?

Nippybutsweet · 31/01/2020 01:49

The democratically held vote on leaving the EU has been upheld and the UK will leave tomorrow at 11pm GMT. This is only right as it's what people voted for - twice, once in the EU Referendum and once in the General
Election to 'get Brexit done'.

Scotland voted to remain in the EU by 62% against 38% to leave in 2016.

In the General Election in 2019 Scotland voted by a landslide to reject the 'get Brexit done' mantra of the Tories but still Scotland were forced to accept a government they did not vote for.

If a man discounted his wife's views, wishes and hopes for the future the majority on here would be screaming LTB. The union for Scotland has become a dictatorship and as a result people are now waking up to what they once couldn't see.

Boris denying a Nation it's right to self determination is a dictatorship not a partnership of equals and might just be the noose he hangs himself by in the eyes of Scotland.

The latest polls reflect the turning tide.

I love my neighbours.
English , French, Romanian etc

I'm Scottish, live in Scotland, invested in Scotland.

I'm not an idiot or blinded by SNP or any one party.

But

My voice will never be represented at Westminster. I am a teacher, a mother, a patient, a consumer.
Please consider that this country might decide its own fate. It can't be worse than what we already have. It might be a lot better.
Please think about it.
