AIBU?

To not feel sorry for colleague ripped off at strip club?

Bibbiditybobbidy · 26/01/2020 23:00

30 year old colleague went to a well known strip club on a stag do, and woke up the next day with £7k missing from bank acct.
He was so drunk it appears he managed to spend all that without knowing. When he complained they sent him evidence of himself ( CCTV) at the bar authorising each transaction, times receipts etc
He parents have had to lend him ££ as he’s at his over draft limit and he’s paying them back.
He’s weeping and wailing about it but I just think he’s been an arse and should learn as lesson AIBU? He’s getting lots of sympathy about the ‘injustice’ of it in the office... but he's exactly the kind of guy to show off in front of his mates playing the big man, while he’s actually a bit of a beta male...I have NO sympathy for him, the little creep!

There is no legal definition of drunkenness. He has been clearly shown to be making his way to the bar, coherently ordering drinks/services and then paying for these with a card which required him to input his pin code.

If he had been face down on the bar with a fistful of fivers mumbling 'giss a drink' then the licencing authorities would be interested.

I can't believe that anyone can spend £7000 on a night out without some dodgy business having occurred.

He wasnt at the Dog & Duck on Quiz Night! He was in a strip club. They are expensive. People with ready cash and iffy morals go to spend and be seen to be spending. He was shown to be at the bar on more than one occasion. If he didnt like the prices he shouldnt have gone back a second time.

I doubt his drink was spiked or he'd have been unable to spend. The things we come up with to excuse men!

Hearhooves why are you now talking about minors?!

I can't believe they're accusing a PP of rape. Now. God, how disgusting.
Pumper Thanks I admire your efforts but this person will just keep twisting and twisting. They can't be reasoned with and will always go in for a personal jab.

Given that a fair few posters here appear to not have a problem with having sex with a drunk partner

Good grief. You are abhorrent. You just make shit up to suit that agenda of yours don't you.

How about instead of any time and effort being thrown at getting evidence of the alleged crime and shutting the place down for what happened to him, that time and effort instead is thrown at going over with a fine tooth comb the employees and finding evidence of trafficking or exploitation? I think the impact on society would be much more positive

Then you've never been to a strip club...or on a night out with strippers Grin

Do one of those AMA things about working in a lap dancing club. It is so far from my experience that I am fascinated. Do you put it on your CV? Serious question.

Sagradafamiliar, aimed at @Hearhoovesthinkzebras.

We get it. You disagree with this poster. However, you’re getting quite nasty and personal and whilst I wouldn’t use the word ‘abhorrent’ to describe what you are doing - I save that for truly awful things - I wish you’d lay off. Not only is it unpleasant to see a vendetta being played out (you admitted upthread that you follow this poster across threads to argue with them and take up past disagreements), your posts aimed at Hooves are derailing what has otherwise been an interesting thread. it’s not in the spirit of civilised debate.

The PP is the derailer. That's the point . Are you HQ? Report any posts you disapprove of.

Slight comprehension issue there.

Being familiar with a poster that stands out in FWR for derailing, what about the men, not my Nigel,NAMALT and recognising that pattern on another thread, is not the same as following them across MN to argue with them.
When women are victims Hooves goes to incredible lengths to explain why they aren't or that they're somehow an anomaly.

A male is a possible victim? Call the police! Call the licensing authority! Despite having no idea if an actual crime has been committed.

It's abhorrent and vile to call a bunch of posters rapists, and say they have no problem sleeping with drunk people. Completely made up. Disgraceful.
And now you're joining in with lies, saying I've admitted to following that derailer around to argue with them. Total LIE. No, I'm sorry fuck that. Don't tell lies about me. You've been chipping in at me since yesterday because you don't like my posts. Speak for yourself where personal agendas are concerned as you can't stop having your little goes at me, hours later after I've even said anything. The irony!

Thank you, Panic. I just always challenge it where I see it. And it's conspicuous when it comes from the same place time and again. I would never admit to 'following posters around to argue and take up past disagreements', because it isn't true.

Your sidekick has called me thick, too:

Slight comprehension issue there.

Grow up. If you can’t argue a point in a civilised fashion, and if you can’t resist chucking teenage insults around whenever anybody disagrees with you, a forum like this isn’t a healthy place for you to be.

No, she didn't, and I have no idea why it is 'teenage' to point it out to you.

Is the idea that only a teenager can remember 4 pages back?

Here is my supposed lie.

I posted this yesterday, to sagradafamiliar:

Are you doing that thing where you take against a poster for disagreeing with you on thread A then pursue them across threads B, C and D to continue castigatIng them?

Reply from Sagradafamiliar:

Wombat, kind of. I'm doing that thing where I point out someone's clear agenda. Report if you like.

Were you ‘kind of’ doing it, as you said? If so, where is the lie? Your posts on this thread are littered with references to posts that Hooves has made on other threads: posts that you don’t like. Your behaviour is visible: it is in black and white.

I was clearly just fobbing you off with my 'kind of' reply as I wasn't going to indulge you. You were gagging for an argument and still are. Very bizarre.

Do I? I don't remember any time when I've said that. You just can't stand the fact that sometimes men are victims too oh and as for this

It's abhorrent and vile to call a bunch of posters rapists, and say they have no problem sleeping with drunk people.

Please show me where I called anyone a rapist. Firstly, I didn't, so more of your lies, secondly, women can't be rapists and thirdly you were giving the impression that it's ok to have sex with a drunk person and so I asked how you could be sure that a drunk person was giving consent - i think that is a valid question and I'm quite sure if the question was is it ok for a man to have sex with a drunk woman then your responses would be very different.

No I wasn't! Quote me. You know that sex without informed consent is either rape or sexual assault and you know it. You're being deliberately obtuse. You've painted a thread full of people as having sinister intentions just because you felt like making shit up.
