It isn't ok to try and shut anyone up with remarks about their skin colour. It doesn't matter if that skin colour is white, black or green with purple spots.

His fellow actors have been told to "denounce" him. It looks like he can wave goodbye to his career. What lovely tolerant people the ultra woke are.

“*He doesn't want women who are too woke.

Given the experiences that women such as Megan and other women face when they express an opinion that people like him disagree with, I suspect he just would like a woman who keeps her opinions to herself*”

I’d like to learn more about him before I condemn him

It's freedom of expression in the UK anyway, not 'free speech'. It doesn't include hate speech.

Right, like the dangerous pug and his Nazi salute.

LaurieMarlow · 19/01/2020 21:21

Oh everyone is allowed an opinion.

That doesn’t mean their opinion is of much relevance or importance.

The problem with white upper class males is that they’re used to their opinions being granted more weight than other people’s. Even when they have the sum total of sweet fuck all experience or thinking to add to the discussion.

Addressing that historical over weighting is not a ‘crisis of free speech’. And those claiming it is tend to have something to lose in the changing of the status quo.

chomalungma · 19/01/2020 21:27

From Twitter:

"To all the people talking about “white privilege” — fuck you guys. Most white people are working hard and trying to get on with life. They don’t need posh leftists telling them they’re privileged. It makes me so angry"

Tomorrow on spiked — @LozzaFox
talks to Brendan O’Neill...

Ikeasucks · 19/01/2020 21:28

There is a crises of free speech. It’s really ugly - all made worse by social media. Our politicians are terrified to say the wrong thing, our medical professionals, police, teachers, academics are scared to speak up.

LaurieMarlow · 19/01/2020 21:31

our medical professionals, police, teachers, academics are scared to speak up.

What kind of things are they afraid to speak about?

KeepCookingWithGas · 19/01/2020 21:32

Why on earth correct people even to say its "freedom of expression in the UK anyway." I imagine hearing a "ner!" on the end of that.

Presumably this pedantry being a reference to legislation enacted 5 minutes ago.

Yet any poor old fashioned soul who'd like to ask that people use an apostrophe or "whom" where appropriate is asked on Mumsnet to please keep themselves to themselves in Pedants corner!😂

chomalungma · 19/01/2020 21:33

Yes - there really is a free speech struggle
He is appearing on a talk show with Julia Hartley Brewer. Someone else who struggles to have a platform to express her views - when she's not on the BBC, on the radio and in the print media

@JuliaHB1
Delighted that the Woke Brigade’s new #EnemyNumberOne @LozzaFox will be in my @talkRADIO breakfast show studio tomorrow morning. Do tune in for our snowflake-free chat.

malylis · 19/01/2020 21:34

Oh wow right wing spiled and Lozza fox.

Don't make me laugh.

There is no crisis of free speech, the men in the Downing Street and the Whitehouse say what they like with impunity, the majority of the press is right wing and has right wing commentators. LBC has a majority of right wing hosts and so many more examples.

Often when you dig into the examples given for the crisis they don't stand up to scrutiny.

Mostly its a manufactured thing engineered so that people who hold particular values can claim they are a persecuted minority when they are a powerful majority

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 21:35

I am a teacher. What am I afraid of?

ghostyslovesheets · 19/01/2020 21:36

free speech struggle my eye - just look at who controls the media - it is certainly not minorities

TheRealMcKenna · 19/01/2020 21:38

What kind of things are they afraid to speak about?

  • The fact that the vast majority of industrial scale child sexual exploitation cases are carried out by Muslim men.
  • The fact that automatic affirmation of a child’s self identified gender by the medical profession may not be the best approach
  • FGM. How many successful prosecutions have there been so far?
chomalungma · 19/01/2020 21:38

free speech struggle my eye - just look at who controls the media - it is certainly not minorities

And look at what happens to minorities if they dare speak up about this stuff,

People complained about Naga Munchetty - and yes, you do have to see the abuse she gets on Twitter. I wonder what possible reasons there are she gets more abuse than other presenters on BBC Breakfast?

LaurieMarlow · 19/01/2020 21:38

Casting my minds eye quickly over the houses of commons and lords?

Yep. White men still strongly over represented.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/01/2020 21:41

Rising sorry, don't get what you're on about.

Keep because it matters. Imagine what you like!

malylis · 19/01/2020 21:42

The fact that CSE cases are carried out by muslim men is on the front page of at least three national newspapers and every tv channel. Plus millions of websites.

FGM? Yup its a story, an issue and every school has delivered training on the tell tale signs.

Self ID is debated in the press and everywhere else too.

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 21:45

I really think the (usually offered as a counter) argument about gender and sex is forced on people as 'right' by righteously indignant people as much as you say the Woke enforce their views smugly.

I can assure you I spend most of my day grumbling about marking and behaviour.

Flaxmeadow · 19/01/2020 22:08

Oh wow right wing spiled and Lozza fox

I think you meant to say Spiked? And It is not right wing. Have you ever read it or listened to the podcasts? The editor Brendan O'Neil is actually more left leaning, one of the main reasons he often mentions class issues. He still says he is a Marxist on occasion, even now. Many of the contributors and guests are also left leaning

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 19/01/2020 22:17

I've not RTFT, just the first few pages which have given me the gist of the responses to the OP.
I have to say I'm totally horrified that there's anyone that could agree with LF's expression of his views on QT. The fact he openly said he found the discussion of racism "boring" tells me everything I need to know, and informs me of the calibre of man he is.
It's great (for him) that he's in the white privileged position to be bored by concerns of racism. Hey, as long as he's not affected it doesn't matter one jot, does it? Well, good for him.
MM has definitely suffered too much at the hands of the press. No one can deny that. So have other women who married into the royal family. It's been truly disgusting how they've all been treated over the years. In addition to the misogynistic abuse other royal females received MM has also suffered racist abuse. To be in denial of that LF and all those who agree with him must be living with his head firmly in the sand. Head in the sand is a happy state for some people. Just pretend there's not a problem. Perfect.

KeepCookingWithGas · 19/01/2020 22:20

If you were talking about specific legislation the correction or point might be usefully made. Even then it might be unnecessary tbh.

user1494621907 · 19/01/2020 22:22

I thought he was brilliant and a breath of fresh air in the acting profession. Why do we all have to be so compartmentalised in this world? It really is SO immature to expect people to be a certain way because of their profession.Good on him, he was brave and honest, and I loved his opinion.I think we are all bored and pissed off with woke opinions anyway, they will soon go out of fashion, as quickly as they came in, and common sense will be trendy next week, or something else.

malylis · 19/01/2020 22:26

Spiked is not right wing? All the media bias check sites would disagree.

Here's just one: www.google.com/amp/s/mediabiasfactcheck.com/spiked-magazine/%3famp

malylis · 19/01/2020 22:28

Brendan O'Neil is certainly not left wing or a marxist either, most definitely libertarian right.

Spiked is right wing bilge.

user1494621907 · 19/01/2020 22:28

The ultra woke, are the most intolerant people on earth. They literally ghost people who do not agree with them.If they had their way we would all be put in prison for having a different opinion to them.
But the tide is turning, ha ha, it is turning and we are through with your propaganda, brainwashing, hideous arrogance, you dirty woke tribe, you are a tribe, and a hateful one at that.

Cobblersandhogwash · 19/01/2020 22:29
