(The title is supposed to be a light hearted joke....)

DH and I have one DD. She is 3. We are going on her first holiday in July. I felt like I lost myself a bit after having DD and really took to fashion and I really enjoy styling and putting together outfits, quite eccentric outfits with bold statements pieces.

Like my beloved sandals....

I have a beautiful pair of very eccentric, loud, chunky sandals. I bought them last summer and wore them all summer. As soon as we booked the holiday last month all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days and I day dreamed about different outfits to wear them with

UNTIL yesterday

We were having breakfast yesterday morning and DH says 'Its ds birthday next week, i'll see her at dm house tonight, i'll ask what she wants for her birthday'

He returned home to say she wanted a pair of my beloved sandals to take on holiday.......

DH then gave her his bank card to order them there and then.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

They were going to be the only shoe I was gonna bring and apparently she is saying the same because theyre ££££

Dh and I spend £££ on DS and her husbands bday presents and they spend £££ on ours. DH has no other siblings and I'm an only child.

AIBU to annoyed? I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable. She is 25 years older than me, our sense of style is usually very different so she would style them different to me and we won't be going around in the same outfits head to toe.... but still..... :(

Are you going on holiday with your SIL? If not, does it really matter?

Soontobe60 · 16/01/2020 15:57

You’ll soon learn OP, people with ‘old money’ would only buy Crocs for their holiday round the Caribbean. You’ll be a laughing stock at family gatherings wearing those monstrosities!

PurpleMice · 16/01/2020 15:59

I adore out there fashion &

FoamingAtTheUterus · 16/01/2020 16:00

You paid good money for what looks like a pair of crocs decorated with the contents of a toddlers jewellery box??

Now I'm not saying you're a fool........but I have heard fools are easily parted from their money. 😲

corcaithecat · 16/01/2020 16:02

Only here for the delete message. Grin

Equanimitas · 16/01/2020 16:02

all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days

Really? Have you thought about, y'know, getting a life?

AryaStarkWolf · 16/01/2020 16:03

Are you going on holiday with your SIL?

"I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable"

Sounds like it ^

ChangeInTime · 16/01/2020 16:03

I think you and your SIL would be better spending your money on a trip to Specsavers. You're clearly both in dire need of an eye test.

QueenOfOversharing · 16/01/2020 16:03

Are you going on holiday or running away to the circus?

@YouokHun

tharsheblows · 16/01/2020 16:04

It is weird that she wants them to wear on the same holiday where you'll be in them too – they're so distinctive it'll be noticeable whatever else you're wearing. Will you be out together a fair amount? Then it's even stranger.

It might be that she wanted the sandals and then to gushingly say thanks said she'd wear them the entire holiday (like "I LOVE these, thank you! I'm going to take them on holiday and wear them the ENTIRE time! 💖✨") but actually won't. Maybe.

If it were me, I'd take them and another pair of shoes but I'd do that even if they weren't the same... I have to admit that to me both of you taking only one pair of shoes on holiday is the strangest part 😁(I like the shoes, it's great when people have fun with fashion.)

Jackiebrambles · 16/01/2020 16:09

I guess it's true what they say, money cannot buy taste.

I can't believe two women want to wear those, and in the same family too! Grin

YouokHun · 16/01/2020 16:09

@QueenOfOversharing glad you appreciate my user name (it’s aimed less at the Gucci orthopaedic shoe wearers and more at MLM huns making equally hideous purchases). Wink

golddustwomen · 16/01/2020 16:09

@amusedbush honking 😂😂 I am in tears.
Op they really are honking, give her yours and save yourself the £££

Sadiee88 · 16/01/2020 16:11

This has amused me no end.
You clearly have more money than sense! Just buy another pair lol Wink

ThatLibraryMiss · 16/01/2020 16:11

I try my best to live a minimalist lifestyle says the woman who's asking us to believe she spent £830 on the tackiest sandals I ever did see.

BTW, if you like the look of the Stella McCartney ones I think FitFlops might be right up your street.

NoSauce · 16/01/2020 16:12

They’re hideous. Like a four year old has got hold its mothers Treks and gone to town with craft shit!

Is this a joke then?

Hoppinggreen · 16/01/2020 16:12

I think op has been here before
I’m waiting for —photoshopped— pictures of her wearing them while getting on a private jet

Hoppinggreen · 16/01/2020 16:12

Bugger, strike through fail

northernlittledonkey · 16/01/2020 16:13

Wow, they're hideous. buy hey, if you like them, what do I know. I'd be annoyed that SIL is copying me too.

KatyCarrCan · 16/01/2020 16:13

Your sandals and your thread have brightened my day so thank you OP Grin
Please tell us that your DSIL got them in the other colourway. Although you do realise that if she styles them with the grim brown Gucci tracksuit then she's going to take all the attention away from you in your understated cycling shorts. In fact, depending on her 'styling', no-one will notice you're wearing the same shoes at all . Grin

Elderflower14 · 16/01/2020 16:14

🍪 🙈 🍪

QueenOfOversharing · 16/01/2020 16:19

@YouokHun haha! Well, it serves a multitude of purposes on here. There are a few huns who need checking on 😂😂

TruffleShuffles · 16/01/2020 16:20

I agree @Hoppinggreen green, I think she was last asking for help finding a cheap holiday that cost less than 10k per person.

DrKnickerbocker · 16/01/2020 16:20

I'd be grateful to SIL for buying a pair, you won't be the only tit walking around in the Lelli Kelli/Sketchers/Crocs hybrids.

Be honest, if those monstrosities were made by Primark you wouldn't dream of wearing them.

Desperado.

MegaClutterSlut · 16/01/2020 16:21

There are some arseholes on this thread, ok they may not be to our taste and a lot of money but why rip the piss....

Anyway I'd be pissed off too. They are so distinctive that it will be pretty much impossible not to notice you both wearing them. Deffo get dh to buy you another pair!
