(The title is supposed to be a light hearted joke....)

DH and I have one DD. She is 3. We are going on her first holiday in July. I felt like I lost myself a bit after having DD and really took to fashion and I really enjoy styling and putting together outfits, quite eccentric outfits with bold statements pieces.

Like my beloved sandals....

I have a beautiful pair of very eccentric, loud, chunky sandals. I bought them last summer and wore them all summer. As soon as we booked the holiday last month all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days and I day dreamed about different outfits to wear them with

UNTIL yesterday

We were having breakfast yesterday morning and DH says 'Its ds birthday next week, i'll see her at dm house tonight, i'll ask what she wants for her birthday'

He returned home to say she wanted a pair of my beloved sandals to take on holiday.......

DH then gave her his bank card to order them there and then.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

They were going to be the only shoe I was gonna bring and apparently she is saying the same because theyre ££££

Dh and I spend £££ on DS and her husbands bday presents and they spend £££ on ours. DH has no other siblings and I'm an only child.

AIBU to annoyed? I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable. She is 25 years older than me, our sense of style is usually very different so she would style them different to me and we won't be going around in the same outfits head to toe.... but still..... :(

I can see why your a bit pissed off OP, you bought the saddles because you wanted something a bit crazy and different? (Which they are), maybe you wanted to stand out from the crowd? And now your SIL will also be standing out and you won’t be the one with the different sandals. I also own a funky pair of sandals, luckily I don’t have any female family members to copy me 🤣

Frouby · 16/01/2020 15:30

Da fooq

starfishmummy · 16/01/2020 15:31

The front view of those Stella ones makes them look like something from the cosyfeet catalogue.

Actually cosyfeet look better....

FlaviaAlbia · 16/01/2020 15:33

Maybe your SIL has hit on a way to prevent you wearing something inflicts daily pain on her eyes when you're on holiday. You probably can't see them if you wear them on your own feet.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2020 15:34

No just no.
I think you are stuck on the name, they look like a child's shoe, age 6.
I would think you were a fashion victim, think ad fab comedy.

Drabarni · 16/01/2020 15:34

It depends really.
You are obviously a fashion leader and should be proud she has to follow you, and you obviously have good taste.

Well, in sandals. Your choice in men however, hmm. There's nothing like the persoansl touch of buying a present and gift wrapping it, he only has one sibling. I hope he treats you well, OP Grin

weemouse · 16/01/2020 15:36

They look perfect for Edina from Absolutely Fabulous.

They are hellish

ThunderboltandLightning · 16/01/2020 15:37

@smemorata it's toddler fashion. Where the parents let their little darlings develop their own sense of style and wear whatever they want. They look scruffy as fuck, but the parents think it is cute and eccentric. Most people grow out of it and realise that neon pink tights with bling sandals looks ridiculous.

Thestrangestthing · 16/01/2020 15:42

If this is the way you are styling yourself, you should have a rethink.
I can't believe 2 people wanted to buy those 😱

puds11 · 16/01/2020 15:43

Fuck me they are grim Grin

I’d deffo notice two women twatting about in those.

They are very Eddy Monsoon!

PaperbackBlighter · 16/01/2020 15:44

Bullshit.

There’s no way two people in the world, let alone the same family, would find those appealing.

devoedtobitsandback · 16/01/2020 15:45

Op, save yourself some money and get these.

NotACleverName · 16/01/2020 15:45

You could stick a Gucci logo on a dog turd and someone would buy it.

FruityWidow · 16/01/2020 15:46

I fuckin love those OP. Tell SIL to get her own style.

YouokHun · 16/01/2020 15:46

QueenOfOversharing - If they are these, your SIL getting them isn't your biggest issue

GrinGrinGrin
Sorry OP but they are hideous. Are you going on holiday or running away to the circus?

EpcotForever · 16/01/2020 15:47

I really would love to see the rest of your wardrobe.
Ooh, do you like statement handbags too?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 16/01/2020 15:48

circa 1993.

SwishSwishSheesh · 16/01/2020 15:48

Why is everyone so mean to the OP? Come on, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing Grin I mean this shoe (lol) would not be my choice either but why gang up on her?

ElBandito · 16/01/2020 15:49

Having seen the link...are you sure she wasn’t joking?

TeaForTara · 16/01/2020 15:50

I'm surprised that, having worn them all last summer, you are even thinking about wearing them again for your holiday. Obviously you need new ones for 2020. Those are so 2019. Fine for slobbing around the house in but no more.

Buggedandconfused · 16/01/2020 15:50

Loving this thread, it’s the funniest today.

TheFastandTheCurious · 16/01/2020 15:51

@SwishSwishSheesh I seriously doubt the OP is genuine!

roiseandjim · 16/01/2020 15:55

This has got to be a joke surely. No one spends a grand on their sister and no one would wear these shoes!? This can't be real 😂

1forAll74 · 16/01/2020 15:55

Oh dear, you usually see all these rich and famous women in glam sandals on their hols, but their bikinis are what people notice more !

Anyhow, your relative must think that you have an excellent eye, for the choice of your footwear, so a compliment really.

WhyWhatAreYouDoing · 16/01/2020 15:56

This can't be genuine. Those are hideous. Nearly a grand! Anyone that actually paid that amount of money for them has more money than sense.
And you say there are now 2 pairs in the family! Can't be serious.
