(The title is supposed to be a light hearted joke....)

DH and I have one DD. She is 3. We are going on her first holiday in July. I felt like I lost myself a bit after having DD and really took to fashion and I really enjoy styling and putting together outfits, quite eccentric outfits with bold statements pieces.

Like my beloved sandals....

I have a beautiful pair of very eccentric, loud, chunky sandals. I bought them last summer and wore them all summer. As soon as we booked the holiday last month all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days and I day dreamed about different outfits to wear them with

UNTIL yesterday

We were having breakfast yesterday morning and DH says 'Its ds birthday next week, i'll see her at dm house tonight, i'll ask what she wants for her birthday'

He returned home to say she wanted a pair of my beloved sandals to take on holiday.......

DH then gave her his bank card to order them there and then.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

They were going to be the only shoe I was gonna bring and apparently she is saying the same because theyre ££££

Dh and I spend £££ on DS and her husbands bday presents and they spend £££ on ours. DH has no other siblings and I'm an only child.

AIBU to annoyed? I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable. She is 25 years older than me, our sense of style is usually very different so she would style them different to me and we won't be going around in the same outfits head to toe.... but still..... :(

Your trying to hard to appear rich.
People will not be envious, those shoes will mark you out as that woman, with the shoes.
Could you try for something more elegant.
People will then think you really are classy.

Plumpplums · 16/01/2020 16:44

Do the heels light up when you walk OP ?

letmebefrank · 16/01/2020 16:44

I just can't get over the fact that your DH handed over his credit card to his sister so she could buy sandals that cost almost £1000! Madness.

And they're hideous!

More money than brains, truly.

FenellaMaxwell · 16/01/2020 16:45

Grin good one, OP!

DontCallMeShitley · 16/01/2020 16:46

When I saw the thread I thought, I get that, I once had a friend that bought every item of clothing I had regardless of whether it suited her or not. She even asked my hairdresser to do her hair like mine. In the end I bought second hand designer stuff which made it more difficult for her to find a copy.

Then I saw the picture and I thought it has to be a joke thread.

Then I thought maybe it was a mistake and they are child's sandals.

Then I remembered that money can't buy taste.

TatianaLarina · 16/01/2020 16:48

This thread is def 2 teenagers having a laugh.

letmepeeinpeace · 16/01/2020 16:48

Very Edina Monsoon 😂

namechangenewness · 16/01/2020 16:49
  1. I just knew they would be Gucci.
  2. I'm going to go against the grain and say that I know people who wear things of this style and can pull it off, you're young so you probably can too.
  3. Weird that your SIL would want the same shoes as you given the age gap.
  4. DH is a spender on designer goods so cost doesn't surprise me at all.
Jimmers · 16/01/2020 16:49

Thanks MN-ers. I’m snort-laughing at your responses on a very busy bus Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/01/2020 16:50

Those are bloody HORRiblE!

I'm sorry OP, but a four year old might get excited about them, but I can't understand why an adult woman would.

And HOW MUCH!?

€980!!! (I have no idea what that is in Real Money, but it must be a lot!)

I think that you are right - people will notice. But they won't think you are twins. They will think that they are part of the standard uniform in the asylum . . . .

Talk about first world problems . . . . . . .

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 16/01/2020 16:50

"Mum they are hideous"

"They are Gucci Saffy darling, Gucci they can't be hideous!"

TigerOnATrain · 16/01/2020 16:52

@littleolwinedrinker

So your SIL is 47, (or is it 48, as you posted a different age afterwards,) and she is 25 years older than you. So you are 22/23? and you seriously expect us to believe a young woman just 2 years out of her teens would wear these monstrosities, and even MORE unbelievable, that her almost 50 y.o. SIL is desperate to copy her?

How old is your DH by the way, if his sister is a quarter century older than YOU?

You sound about 9, the sandals are the ugliest things I have ever seen, and you're taking the piss out of us if you think we believe this twaddle Grin

Pull the other one. 🤣

@MegaClutterSlut

There are some arseholes on this thread, ok they may not be to our taste and a lot of money but why rip the piss...

ODFOD. It's a public forum. People are entitled to post what they think. Jog on.

NYnachos · 16/01/2020 16:53

OP I'm closer to your SIL's age and I love both pairs you've linked to Blush

TigerOnATrain · 16/01/2020 16:57

To the poster(s) who asked.... €980 (980 euros,) is around £835.00.

QueenOfOversharing · 16/01/2020 16:58

I think she was last asking for help finding a cheap holiday that cost less than 10k per person.

@TruffleShuffles oooooooh it all makes sense now. exits thread

foodandwine89 · 16/01/2020 16:59

Wow. Leave them at home. They are horrific. She's done you a favour there, let her wear them

Reginabambina · 16/01/2020 17:00

@SwishSwishSheesh ahhh. didn’t pick that up, brain autocorrects as I read. Yes, I can imagine wearing just one (especially given how clunky they are) would be rather awkward.

AdelaideK · 16/01/2020 17:00

The comments that are taking the op seriously are making me laugh more than the ridiculous shoes. Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/01/2020 17:01

Thank you Tiger

i knew that it was a little more than I would be prepared to pay for what look like a pair of kid's shoes designed by a leprechaun on crack.

spongejack · 16/01/2020 17:01

Anyway I'd be pissed off too. They are so distinctive that it will be pretty much impossible not to notice you both wearing them. Deffo get dh to buy you another pair!

Hopefully he's got more taste, i reckon he got his sister done to stop his wife wearing hers! Smart move!

DrKnickerbocker · 16/01/2020 17:01

Ooop where've you gone OP?

Finding new things to spend your 'old money' on? Grin

Fatasfooook · 16/01/2020 17:01

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Find something else to waste energy on

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 16/01/2020 17:04

Fuck me.. there's adults wearing shoes that look like that?

There's no allowing for shit taste and too much money to flaunt it.

TigerOnATrain · 16/01/2020 17:05

@SchadenfreudePersonified

Thanks tiger.

You're welcome. Smile

I knew that it was a little more than I would be prepared to pay for what look like a pair of kid's shoes designed by a leprechaun on crack.

PMSL! Grin

Hingeandbracket · 16/01/2020 17:06
