Do you have any where you live, or any local urban legends?

The closest town to myself there was a man who drove round on a mobility scooter with 4 or 5 real life owls sat with him... He would stop and let people have pics with him and all sorts.

It wasn't done as a one off or charity, he just liked to takes his owls out I guess.

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I heard they lived in this area. Which Italian? I'm interested to know because I can only think of two decent ones round here 😂

Mockers2020Vision · 14/01/2020 18:03

You can usually find Gazza in a coffee bar in town.

He can't go in a pub because within five minutes several people will have bought him drinks, some out of misplaced kindness and others out of a warped sense of humour.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 14/01/2020 18:03

Steve Coogan
Frank the Tramp - Absolute legend, lived with his Mum, walked round with a hat made out of a bin liner so he was also known as Billy Bin Bag!
Norbrey Broadbent (this is massively outing, but if you know, you KNOW!Wink)

jakinaboxx · 14/01/2020 18:06

This fella (apologies for language)

Also, the woman with the car and wheelie bin covered in pics of Shane Ritchie and a bloke who hula hoops everywhere

Thorilicious · 14/01/2020 18:11

We have a man who pulls a trolley and isa full on goth. DS used to be scared of him, until Christmas time, and he was wearing a santa jacket. DS said he looked cool, and the man overhead, and wished us a merry Christmas. We now on say hello as we pass each other.

ratspeaker · 14/01/2020 18:21

We have a local guy builds "sculptures " on the beach.

There is someone making wooden robots and leaving them in random places around the area.

There is a loony dook every new years day where people charge into the sea, meanwhile wild swimmer go out quietly everyday.

Otherwise we have a few actors and authors resident and as for the city as a whole its a madhouse during Edinburgh festival.

Littlecaf · 14/01/2020 18:21

We have three - double denim man - unfortunately has MH issues and walks up the main A road most mornings avoiding the cars doing 60.

The black window cleaner on a bike carrying full ladders on his shoulders. I mention that he’s black because area I live in is very white and everyone says “the window cleaner with the push bike....carries his ladders.. you know, the black guy?” Like there’s another window cleaner with a bicycle and full ladders and they had to point out he is black. Hmm

And a man I call “Linkin Park” cos he looks like he’s a member of the metal rock band Linkin Park.

MikeUniformMike · 14/01/2020 18:25

I sat next to Amy Turtle's son-in-law at a party.

Sagradafamiliar · 14/01/2020 18:26

Quite a few I can think of but all have quite severe mental health issues so I won't mention.
There was a man with a Fb page dedicated to him, would sit topless outside a certain pub all day every day topping up his tan. Think he's moved to Spain...

MuchBetterNow · 14/01/2020 18:30

One of The Proclaimers and Stuart "Woody" Wood from the Bay City Rollers. Worked in a surgery years ago beside JK Rowlings husband, everyone just called him Harry Potter though.

vincentsleftear · 14/01/2020 18:36

Hoppinggreen I know who you mean and agree with you - his lovable eccentric act makes my skin crawl. Also, the guy who did the painting of the cat in the station who is another "eccentric" publicity seeker who has a formal police caution for making death threats and misogynistic abuse to women.

GlamGiraffe · 14/01/2020 18:41

Ellie goulding and paul Simmonon from the clash both live on my street, nigella Lawson lived here too.

LakieLady · 14/01/2020 18:41

@stepitupjuan, I am so jealous of your DS! It's a good job I live hundreds of miles from Liverpool, because if I ever encountered the divine Jurgen in the flesh I am sure I would come over all unnecessary and make a complete prat of myself.

I'm weak at the knees just at the thought of being winked at by him.

Actor Mark Williams lives quite nearby, we sometimes he see him in town with his daughters. He's very nice and his little girls love my dog.

The only other "famous" resident is Arthur "God of Hellfire" Brown. It's rumoured that Boris Becker has bought a house here, but I've never seen him and don't know anyone who has.

We have some local oddballs, too. My favourite is a man who walks through town with a Harris hawk on his arm. We also have a lady who has a wheeled walking frame festooned with plastic flowers, wears a bright blue skateboarding helmet and has a St George's flag worn like a cloak. She swears and shouts at anyone who tries to engage her in conversation.

Spacey306 · 14/01/2020 18:41

@Waxonwaxoff0 you're talking about fast lane 😁 he was a proper local legend. Harmless rogue

ElusiveOrangeTwirl · 14/01/2020 18:44

@vincentsleftear the cat painting guy once talked to me for ages on a train. He said he was the ex of Kate Bush too.

Moonflower12 · 14/01/2020 18:45

@Brimful
I know where you're from!
I was coming on here to say Dancing Ken.

vincentsleftear · 14/01/2020 18:47

Elusive he's full of shit like that - he claims to be a close personal friend of Steven Spielberg and to have worked as Brad Pitt's leg double 😂.
Unfortunately he is also a very dangerous, unpleasant man.

demelza82 · 14/01/2020 18:48

I grew up near Andrew Ridgeley and his partner (at the time) Keren Woodward. Never met them but often saw them around. They very much kept themselves to themselves. However his dad also moved to live nearby and was lovely - met him lots of times and he did loads of charity work

Moonflower12 · 14/01/2020 18:49

@percheron67
And mine!

Brimful · 14/01/2020 18:50

@Moonflower12 it is quite outing, there's only one Dancing Ken! (RIP)

chumbawum · 14/01/2020 18:53

OP is it near Stella in Worcestershire if she still lives that way? Or London?

I'm not far from you OP if it's Worcestershire.

We seem to have lots of newsreaders in our town mostly.

Ashtower · 14/01/2020 18:53

Lennie the tramp was set on fire Sad

horrific

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 14/01/2020 18:54

@pigdogridesagain- both in town centre.

Breakfast at Montys and dinner at Enzo.
I love a creature of habit.

Apparently they used to eat at another for dinner but have swapped allegiances Grin

Moonflower12 · 14/01/2020 18:57

@Stravapalava
We are from the same town.
