Do you have any where you live, or any local urban legends?

The closest town to myself there was a man who drove round on a mobility scooter with 4 or 5 real life owls sat with him... He would stop and let people have pics with him and all sorts.

It wasn't done as a one off or charity, he just liked to takes his owls out I guess.

I used to teach Ricky Ross from Deacon Blue's daughter years ago.

I also taught one of the current Love Island contestants.

Chickoletta · 15/01/2020 19:56

When I was at university, there was an old man who used to travel around on public transport with a breast pump in a carrier bag. He was quite well known locally.

justlliloleme · 15/01/2020 19:57

I also thought of no-smoking man, mentioned already by stepitupjuan and Bipbipbipbip often used to see him as I drove between Liverpool and Southport. Definite mental health issues, very ranty but I believe he'd lost a relative and blamed smoking for their death so there was some rational behind it.

In my time I’ve bumped in to Zammo from. Grange Hill in Tescos where I work , he was looking for eggs; Dot Cotton Actress June Brown from Eastenders. And Margaret Thstcher’s former press secretary Bernard Ingham. That’s my big three.

Hally2020 · 15/01/2020 19:59

Suggs😍, Jimmy Greaves and Olly Murs😊

PhilSwagielka · 15/01/2020 20:00

Glad to see Speedo Mick in here too. He's nuts, but in a good way and he's raised so much for charity. Everton fans get very protective of him when other fans slag him off.

Jessicafirsttimer · 15/01/2020 20:03

Reading Elvis! He’s been in the town for years. Everyone loves him so much they chipped in to take him to Graceland.

Tartyflette · 15/01/2020 20:04

I worked in Fleet St in the 80s and 90s and there was a Northern Irish chap who would come and loudly preach the bible outside our building at lunchtimes.
He always wore a black suit and bowler hat and looked and sounded like a proper Orange Order Ulsterman.
People used to engage with him a little but he was a bit 'fire and brimstone' and not very popular.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/01/2020 20:04

@ThisIsNotARealAvo ah you're near me. Juggling Jim wasn't a millionaire and didn't drive a Jag contrary to popular belief. He did have a flat in town.

I preferred him to the other regular busker.

Delbelleber · 15/01/2020 20:04

When I was a teen many years ago we had the rolly polly tramp who was a homeless guy known for doing random rolly pollys in the streets

Tas1984 · 15/01/2020 20:05

Paul McCartneys grandchild goes to the school in Hampstead that the kids I nanny for go to. Saw him once. Just a glimpse but that was enough. He’s such a legend.

MrsJoshNavidi · 15/01/2020 20:06

TickingClock33 · 15/01/2020 20:13

There was a well known naked in cyclist in Cambridge, but I only saw him the once. Plus a guy that strapped things to his head - I saw him once with a toilet roll and once with a french stick.

doadeer · 15/01/2020 20:16

Oh did I miss point of thread?🤣

Scorpio75kaz · 15/01/2020 20:18
