Do you have any where you live, or any local urban legends?

The closest town to myself there was a man who drove round on a mobility scooter with 4 or 5 real life owls sat with him... He would stop and let people have pics with him and all sorts.

It wasn't done as a one off or charity, he just liked to takes his owls out I guess.

@HeddaGarbled Terry Hutt - absolute legend. He's my friend's dad and is a tireless campaigner as well as a royal fan. Moved from my neck of the woods (East) to yours (West) a few years back.

Up here we have Disco Kenny. He spends his evenings looking for a lovely girl with a bike in the local pubs. Catchphrases of "World's gone mad" and "gotta laugh!"

Real celeb wise - Gillian Taylforth lives nearby and uses the parent bays at Tesco's so she doesn't get her massive Range Rover scratched. Always has issues with the scan and shop as well. We seem to shop at the same time.
Vicki Butler Henderson is also local and we have a few ex-Bill cast here too.

Our real-life, genuine local celebrity used to be Stephen Hawking, who I saw going about his business many times Sad

Nearlydivorced · 15/01/2020 20:30

There was an old man that used to always be running with his shirt off where I’m from he was probably in his 80’s and a Facebook page was made in honour of him 😂❤️

TeetotalKoala · 15/01/2020 20:33

@Backofthebunty @buttcheeksaplenty @DonttouchthatLarry

I know exactly where you are. I immediately recognised the mention of Fred, the tramp on the ring road from DHs hometown so I asked him about the cowboy and Ezra. Apparently he and his mates used to go up town and egg on the cowboy as he'd already found god back then. This would have been close to 25 years ago. He says they were '14 year old dicks'.

TeetotalKoala · 15/01/2020 20:33

Fred had a satellite dish on a stick outside his tent. I always thought that was inspired.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/01/2020 20:52

@doadeer there appears to be 2 threads on 1 going on. Grin

Fowles94 · 15/01/2020 20:52

@Scrump21 there's a man on the Rhyl promenade with owls frequently, I love having a chat and seeing them 😍

Bunnyfuller · 15/01/2020 20:55

@VanGoghsDog

Oh well! You kind of know me now! I’m in your village FB group, and my hairdresser lives there so just wanted to ask! Have you ever seen HL?

I go to the gym there a couple of times a week.

It was very exciting here this morning as the main road through the village was flooded first thing, we watched several cars get stuck and have to push them out.

lolbrador · 15/01/2020 20:57

There's a really tanned and wrinkled old man in my town who is affectionately Known as "the wee raisin"

I love this thread

IAteTheLastOne · 15/01/2020 21:00

We have ‘backwards walking man’ who, inventively, does exactly what it says on the tin. We also used to have ‘Mad Rob’ who thinking back really did need some help!

ButtonBoo · 15/01/2020 21:00

LadyGAgain I live near you!! And you'll also know Josh Hartnett is often in town. Staying at his in-laws.

MumGoneCrazy · 15/01/2020 21:06

We have a local guy who cycles around the motorways and dual carriageways every day without a helmet wearing a high viz vest and a sandwich board sign saying "Global tyranny. How long are we going to tolerate the criminal cabal and their Freemasons?"

Oooooooooooooooooooh · 15/01/2020 21:17

We have a clown with no legs who sits outside the working men’s club shouting.

Chocolate50 · 15/01/2020 21:17

There's someone who walks their llama on a lead in town. Goes in all of the shops with him & pissed the dogs off as they're all waiting outside lol!

Fanniesyeraunt · 15/01/2020 21:18

Lots of z-list celebs where I live - Corrie people, Cheshire housewives and footballers! My mum gets awfully excited when she picks the kids up from school.

Kerry katona used to live across the road and we renamed the house “pap corner” as they were always hanging around outside (It was the height of her fame!) we still call it that though she moved out years ago!

Karenisbaren · 15/01/2020 21:19

used to live round the corner from liam and noel gallagher and lived across the road from someone that used to have happy mondays round all the time.

Southeastlondonmum2 · 15/01/2020 21:20

John Torrode lived in my road until he married Lisa a few years ago and moved in with her. He drove a car even older than mine (mine is 16 years old). Sarah Beeney, often saw here around until they sold up and left London a few months ago. Susannah Reid lives very near me and I can't believe I have never seen her. But if I ever did, I would be terribly embarrassing and stalk her/try to speak to her so probably a good thing (I was always terribly cool and not star struck with John Torrode somehow despite my huge crush on him )

MITCHELL33 · 15/01/2020 21:25

Used to see David Essex walking his dog on the sea front where I live also Bruces son-in-law with long blond hair?

NotYourHun · 15/01/2020 21:26

The black window cleaner on a bike carrying full ladders on his shoulders. I mention that he’s black because area I live in is very white and everyone says “the window cleaner with the push bike....carries his ladders.. you know, the black guy?” Like there’s another window cleaner with a bicycle and full ladders and they had to point out he is black

@Littlecaf are you in the South East?

olbndansmummy · 15/01/2020 21:32

There used to be an old chap round our way who jogged twice a day, rain, shine or snow and he was the spitting image of uncle Albert from only fools and horses. Not seen him for a couple of years though.

acsec · 15/01/2020 21:32

I’ve not seen him for a while, but there’s a man who takes 3 goats for a walk on leads - I live in a busy London suburb. There was a wizard who walked around with a cat on his shoulder, but I think he may have died 😔. We have Bernard who dances to his boom box playing reggae music in the high street 😊

Betty786 · 15/01/2020 21:35

I moved into this area about 10 years ago. Britain’s ‘youngest mother of triplets’ lived around here then, (they’ll be 14 now), Harold Shipman lived in the next town, carry on up a bit and it was where Myra Hindley and Ian Brady lived (I can’t even look towards the houses when I’ve rarely had to drive past) a bit further around was where Dale Cregan killed two young police women, in fact he was originally bailed to the housing estate that I lived on, (but didn’t turn up) Lovely! Although Lowry used to live up the road as well.
